Rafe Hollister Sings

2007-02-08 Thread keepsake68
Hey again, Mayberrians!

I was watching Rafe Hollister Sings. I am not sure if that was his real voice
or not, but the singing sounds great. On the song "That Lonesome Road" (I guess
that of the song..lol,) Rafe sounds a little bit like Elvis Presley. As you
know, Elvis could really sing some great gospel songs.

Take care,
Valerie

I wanted to see if I could get some folks on here to do me a favor and look
and listen to the discussion between Rafe and Andy in the courthouse when
the "ink is smudged" on a name of a person who was brought in for
moonshining last April and lives up on Willow Creek Road. Then Rafe chimes
in and says " _ that was me". Sounds like one thing to me, but I am
wanting to get some other peoples opinions also. It's been preying on my
mind all night since I heard it.

A few years back I also wondered what Rafe's reply to Andy was when Andy was
attempting to find the person who should have been given those 'government
clothes'. Because I have some hearing loss, I asked my wife to listen. She
confirmed that Rafe said, '_ell that's me!' I intentionally left the 1st letter
off of the first word Rafe says because this is a family bulletin board. 😉

Rafe Hollister Sings

As a child I was led to believe that four letter word was as bad as the
other four letter words. Maybe what is shocking to some it that some think
Rafe cursed while using I the word. I don't know.

When I was a kid, and now I understand, it was just that some adults in my
environment didnÂ’t like the sound of children cursing and using even the
more mild forms of four letter words. I even got reprehended for saying "Oh
crap". What about saying Oh Nuts! ?

Interestingly enough, it was the same adults in my environment who cursed
too often and unnecessarily. Even then I thought that.

I think what we are questioning is akin to Andy reprimanding Opie for saying
"snoot full", when referring to Otis being drunk.

My other thought is that there was a lot of things in Mayberry that I am
surprised that do not bring up the same "moral" issues. They would have even
more validly than someone saying ach e double L. Like the song Salty Dog
for instance. Ever researched that song? Maybe I should start taking notes
like Barney would, and get back to you all with an "official report".

If things may seem risqué or questionable on a moral basis, I think it was
done to prove a point and in good taste, meaning and with "modesty". It
disheartens me a bit to see moulages being made in Mayberry, or things in
general, being taken out of context.

And yes my education was worth every penny. ;-)
