Telephone
Dan, Ken can't help it if his feet fall asleep and he likes to talk about. We're still trying to find out what causes that. Cheryl Langille (Of the Buffalo Langilles) Sent from Cheryl's iPhone ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
Telephone
The thing about being on a party line with Ken Anderson is you never get to use the phone. He's as bad as the Mendlebright sisters. I've complained to Sarah, but it hasn't done any good. It's been so bad lately I've been forced to just write letters and buy stamps from that machine down at the post office. Sometimes I wonder why I pay $1.25 a month to the phone company. Dan (Now, if you don't believe ol' Ken is a bit talkative, just check the length of the post he comes back with for this. You'll see.) ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
telephone operators
You can get a glimpse of the life of a 24/7 phone operator in her home by watching the film "Raggedy Man" starring Sissy Spacek from several years ago. Her character served in a small town during WWII when they were desperately needed everywhere. Telephone conversations
I love it when one of the regulars talks on the phone. The writer's always came up with realistic things to say, but I think that Don Knotts was master at acting the conversations. Knowing he wasn't really speaking to anyone, yet the conversations always sounded totally believable. Probably why they wrote so many for him into the show. Andy did a good job, but there were a couple w Sarah that sound a little rushed. "Hi Skippy!... Barney Fife... (pause)... Barney Fife." Just great! ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
Telephone or Tape Recorder
I have an observation of sorts to make here. You know in the funny episode where Barney is singing into that magic mike that makes his voice sound like the Voice of God? Well, listen closely in the epilogue to the dialogue. Barney and Andy are talking and Barney is saying how he couldn't believe how different his voice sounded. Andy is still trying to keep up the pretense that it was actually Barney's own voice singing, and said something to the effect like, "Have you ever heard yourself speak on a telephone?" Barney answers, "Yeah." "Well, you can hardly believe it's your own voice," Andy assures him. Now, my little observation is this: in those days no one could use a phone to hear himself speak. So do you think Andy SHOULD have said tape recorder? Personally, I have always considered this a minor mistake that just wasn't caught, and Andy was supposed to have said tape recorder. But maybe the script actually read "telephone" and no one noticed the inaccuracy of this statement--highly unlikely at the time, it seems to me since telephones were not at all the equipment we have today. But I don't know. And therein lies the question.
