How did Ben Weaver lower his prices than good ole Burts prices ? All he had was a homemade stand. No overhead like Weavers Dept Store ? I know momentary suspension of disbelief' just enjoy the show,. But then I remember Ben Weaver ( on the Christmas episode ) asked Andy something ( at the doorway ), that may give you a clue about Ben making money in another way. Just looking at Will Wright's (our Ben Weaver) biography. 1962's "The Merchant of Mayberry" was one of Will's final roles in that he passed away that same year. Since we have gotten off on this Ben Weaver to-do, I want to chime in and remind everyone that Jason Johnson also played Ben Weaver twice.First in episode #172 (Aunt Bee Takes A Job), then in #187 (Goober's Replacement). Orville Hendricks - Mount Pilot Butter and Egg Man.I was the only one to ever play Orville Hendricks. In regard to our two Ben Weavers. Will Wright played Ben in episodes #11, #28, #54, while Tol Avery was Ben in episode #116. That would make Will Ben #1 and Tol Ben #2. Will Wright (Ben Weaver) Showed up in the episode of I Love Lucy that I watched on Me TV. I was watching the Christmas episode when Ben Weaver was pulling on Sams ( last name cant remember) arm coming through the door. Ben was wanting Andy to arrest Sam for making moonshine. Andy was wanting to let Sam go during the Christmas Holiday but was going to arrest him fairly only AFTER the holiday. Then Ben made an interesting statement. He told Andy Id like to see how forgiving you'd be if you had store that sold spirits and 1/2 the county was cutting into your sales by making their own. a'gen ( against ) the law. We know that the town of Mayberry doesnt allow the sell of alcohol but it certainly sounds like Ben let one slip. Can anyone tell me why TAGS used so many men to play Ben Weaver? On two of the episodes, Christmas Story and The Merchant of Mayberry he was played by Will Wright. But a few others was different. Also, did anyone else see Opie reach his arm into the lemonade pitcher? I'm sure a lot of watchful eyes caught that. I just did though. Keep on Watchin and have a Mayberry Kinda Day!
