Tuesday also was a whirlwind for me. My phone rang off the hook with people asking for interviews or telling me about Andy's passing. I and another member of our Knoxville, Tennessee, "Mayberry" chapter were interviewed on a live local television show at 4:00. You can see our interview at http://www.wbir.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=225452. We were then interviewed for the 11:00 local news on another station. Earlier in the afternoon the local newspaper called requesting a statement which they put in today's edition of the Knoxville News-Sentinel. In fact, the newspaper included a picture of one of our members with the article. You can see it online at http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2012/jul/04/so-long-andy-local-fans-recall-griffith-as-hero/.
Our chapter celebrated today by participating in the July 4 parade in Farragut, Tennessee. We had 3 squad cars and a truck with Rafe Hollister's still with about 20 people. People stood and clapped as we went by. Many expressed sadness hearing about Andy's passing away yesterday. It was a great way to commemorate Andy and our beloved show. We miss you, Andy.
