Hello web2py users, I've been playing around with components recently and they are helping me modularize my application. I was hoping someone could explain to me why they do what they do.
I've noticed that when a controller function that is referenced by a component returns a dict(), it requires a view, but when the function returns a string, it doesn't. Also, when I return a very long string, there is an error with the request, but this does not happen with a dict attribute containing that same string - why is this ? One more thing - is there a way to dynamically create components via javascript? Is it simply just calling a function in the views/ web2py_ajax.html view ? Thanks in advance, Chris
