Hi,

by coincidence I had a look again, and it seems our contact forms are
suffering from a heavy spam abuse, somehow circumventing the ReCaptcha
form. The .ro subsite alone had ~500 comment pages created.

Of course, this happens during vacation... :/

I just blocked access to the contact form as an emergency fix, hope this
works for the moment.

The namespace collision is unfortunate.. :P

"Templates" is the plural form, so it does make sense to use it when
talking about a category, just as if we had a category of "Cars" or
"Houses".

Increased specificity with "ODF Templates" and "(Media)Wiki Templates"
seems like a reasonable compromise here.

To take one example, there are 20+ 'BugzAssHlp' templates. Putting
those into a sub-category would be a healthy cleanup :-)

It's a good point - I agree with that. But even on wiki for MediaWiki,
category for templates is called "Templates"
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Category:Templates and they are using
"Template:" namespace for them.

Cheers.

1. We are just sharing the same software with Wikipedia, which is called

2. We should keep the "Template" for use on wiki-templates as this is the
standard on all MediaWikis, and to keep the entry level at height for new

[libreoffice-website] website slow

2013-12-28 Thread Florian Effenberger

Hi,

I saw the website is quite slow today. I'm still on vacation until
January 3, but I had a quick look.

Disabled KeepAlives in Apache (no idea why it was enabled, because I
usually disable it on heavy-loaded servers). I also changed the # of
parallel connections, let's see if it helps.

Note I am not much online these days, so in case of problems, please
poke website@ and cc the hostmaster@ alias.

Re: [libreoffice-website] Wiki - cleanup in templates.

2013-12-28 Thread Wojciech Zasadni
A popular solution in various wikis is to create different categories
(subcategories) for templates (grouping them by for eq. role), but use
still one, default namespace "Template:". For ODF-Templates whe should
create category named "ODF-Templates". To avoid confusion, I suggest
calling the main category for templates as "Wikipedia Templates".

So, I think we should:
1. Move all templates from "Template" and "Templates" category, to new
"Wikipedia Templates" category.
2. Consider whether the current templates can be grouped in some way - if
so, create an appropriate subcategory.
3. Leave the default namespace "Template" (in category, we are grouping
Templates. Using namespace we are pointing to one Template).

What do you think about this solution?

[libreoffice-website] Article categories in wiki.

2013-12-28 Thread Wojciech Zasadni
Hi,
During the cleaning process I noticed that sometimes to append page to
category we use [[Category:Development]] and sometimes
[[Category:Development|{{SUBPAGENAME}}]]. Naturally, this has an impact on
how pages are sorted in the category. For first method, all pages gonna be
under letter (for eq. Development/Test) D, and for second method articles
will be sorted according to the second member of name (in this case - T).
Which method should I use?
Cheers!

For me, it makes sense the other way round. Let us keep "template" here for
the wiki templates also as a category.
So we can refer to "templates" when talking about ODF-Templates for LO/OOo.

I can not see any advantage in creating another category for the menus,
because the usage will still be "template" although the category might be
"menutemplate". Or am I wrong here?

Some more opinions please from the audience.

[libreoffice-website] Wiki - cleanup in templates.

2013-12-28 Thread Wojciech Zasadni
Hello,
I noticed that there are two categories for template - Template and
Templates. Does it have a purpose? If not, I suggest moving all templates
from "Template" category, to "Templates". We also should think about
subcategories for Templates to improve readability/manual searchability.
Recently I created two categories - Meta Templates (base blocks for
creating more specialized templates) and Maintenance Templates (deletion,
outdated, WIP etc. etc.).
I think that the creation of an additional category for the menu and
bugzilla templates is a good idea.
Any thoughts?
Cheers!
