Finnish is not started yet but I intend to start working on it soon. I expect

[libreoffice-website] Portable and SDK download links broken for some locales

2013-08-03 Thread Harri Pitkänen
Hi!

The download links for PortableApps and SDK seem to be broken on the new
download page for among others Finnish and Danish subsites. You can see
the broken links on

  http://fi.libreoffice.org/lataa/
  http://da.libreoffice.org/hent-libreoffice/

The broken links (404 error) depend on OS choice, here I get by default:

http://fi.libreoffice.org/dl/portable/4.1.0/9/LibreOfficePortable_4.1.0_MultilingualAll.paf.exe

http://fi.libreoffice.org/dl/SDK/4.1.0/2148/LibreOffice_4.1.0_Linux_x86_deb_sdk.tar.gz

http://da.libreoffice.org/dl/portable/4.1.0/9/LibreOfficePortable_4.1.0_MultilingualAll.paf.exe

http://da.libreoffice.org/dl/SDK/4.1.0/2148/LibreOffice_4.1.0_Linux_x86_deb_sdk.tar.gz

This same problem is visible on many other localized subsites (for example
sv and el) but not all: at least de and nl are OK (apparently because they
have a localized donations page).

Re: [libreoffice-website] Download-Page rework - please test provide translations

2013-07-06 Thread Harri Pitkänen
Hi!

This new download page really is easier to use, thanks! Just one question:

On Wednesday 03 July 2013, Christian Lohmaier wrote:

What if a localized subsite does not have a donations page (at least for the
Finnish subsite adding one would be legally problematic)? Would it be possible
to make this redirection configurable so that we could redirect to the generic
get involved page (which we do have) or should we just disable the
redirection for such subsites completely?

[libreoffice-website] Trying to reach the maintainer of an extension in the extension repository

2012-06-17 Thread Harri Pitkänen
I tried to contact the maintainer Johan (username jetten) of the
extension Finnish spell checker and hyphenator (Voikko) using the
contact form on extensions.libreoffice.org. This ended up with an internal
error (code 1339968312.220.495498269323).

Could someone please help me reach the maintainer? I'm the upstream author
of this particular extension and would like to have a new version uploaded
there. Additionally some information about the extension is outdated or
even incorrect, including the extension license. I could help him by
providing new texts or even taking over the maintenance if he is busy with
other things.

[libreoffice-website] Slowness of SilverStripe admin interface

2012-05-30 Thread Harri Pitkänen
Hi!

I've had trouble editing Finnish website today. Silverstripe has been very
slow to respond and responses for many requests for css, js and png files have
not completed at all. Perhaps this is to be expected and related to the
release earlier today. Luckily user visible website seems responsive.

Out of interest I used Firebug to take a look at the things that are loaded
when I logged in to SilverStripe and was surprised to see that there were lots
and lots of image files loaded from
https://fi.libreoffice.org/assets/_resampled/. None of those were actually
displayed in the admin interface and there were things like StripThumbnail-
pesquisa-libo-portal.png that should never be needed on the Finnish site. I
know assets are sort of shared between subsites but perhaps there is a way to
prevent these from being loaded on login?

Another thing I noticed was that admin/concurrentEditingPing was called faster
that server was able to handle and the requests were being queued in the
browser. It seems unnecessary to do a ping when the previous still has not
completed, maybe this is a bug in the concurrent edit module?

[libreoffice-website] Legal issues wrt. donations (was: Banner for website)

2011-02-13 Thread Harri Pitkänen
Hi!

On Saturday 12 February 2011, Florian Effenberger wrote:
for the Foundation fundraising, I plan to have a banner (or maybe
rotating banners) at top of each site, i.e. all native language sites
 and all others like LibreOffice-Box.

While I support this initiative I'm a bit worried if putting such banner on
the Finnish website might cause legal problems for me and other editors of the
Finnish website. Collecting money by appealing to the public for donations
requires a permit under Finnish law. Here is some info in English:

http://www.poliisi.fi/poliisi/home.nsf/pages/562C8788A7A74631C2256C29003042D8?opendocument

Unfortunately the translation is a bit incomplete but hopefully
understandable. TDF of course does not operate under Finnish law and the
servers are in (mostly?) in Germany. But since all of us who maintain the
Finnish website are Finnish residents and the site is mostly targeted for
Finns I am fairly confident that the law does apply to us. Violating this law
could mean up to two years in prison for those responsible of collecting money
against the law.

For this reason the Finnish website does not have a donations page and we
don't even mention the possibility of giving donations. I could try to get us
the required permit. I know some Finnish free software projects have got one
but I'm afraid in this case it won't be easy and it definitely will take some
time.

(however anyone with publisher right should have been able to do the same

In this case the only button on the workflow tab was Comment, there were no

And there were no ordinary bottom controls on the page at all.

By the way, I just noticed this behavior is browser dependent. In Firefox 4.0

According to this related Mozilla bug

at least Opera has the same feature too.

[libreoffice-website] Localized title attributes for navigation

2011-01-20 Thread Harri Pitkänen
Hi!

It is apparently possible to have at least some of the title attributes within
the menu structure localized. Here are some Finnish translations for things I
found from the current menu:

Within the menu:
Go to the X page - Siirry sivulle X
Logo in the top left corner:
Go to LibreOffice Home Page - Siirry LibreOfficen kotisivulle

If there is a way to have these in Finnish under fi.libreoffice.org, we would
be very grateful.

Thanks,

[libreoffice-website] Left margin for numbered lists

2011-01-16 Thread Harri Pitkänen
Hi!

It appears that list items within numbered (ol) lists are shifted a bit too
much left. You can see the problem here:

  http://fi.libreoffice.org/lataa/asennusohjeet/macintosh/

I'd expect the numbers to be aligned at the same level as the paragraph text.
The problem does not occur with ul lists where the CSS adds some padding for
li elements to handle this. Experimenting with Firebug leads me to think that
something like this might work as a fix for this problem:

.typography ol li {
margin-left: 21px;
}

[libreoffice-website] Redirects from national domains

2011-01-11 Thread Harri Pitkänen
Hi!

Right now http://libreoffice.fi redirects to http://www.libreoffice.org. I was
wondering if it made sense to configure the server to redirect those requests
to http://fi.libreoffice.org instead?

Of course there is the general problem that top level domains are based on
country, not language. So this would not work for all domains. But I think
that it would be reasonable for Finnish since .fi websites are usually in
Finnish by default, some with links to Swedish and English translations.
