[libreoffice-website] AskBot update
Hello, I have good news for everyone. ;-) As Alex is still extremely swamped with work on his own business (and terribly sorry for not having more time for TDF at the moment, he told me), we have decided to handle the AskBot issues via the AskBot authors directly, on a paid project basis. They will setup a fresh AskBot instance, add localization features, improve the theming, and ideally also implement some of the desired features. Olivier got in touch with them and asked for a quotation, on which I will ask for budget authorization from the infra budget soon. This will then also help us to add more localizations and languages to AskBot. Alex and I have set up a KVM-based virtual machine yesterday, that contains our base configuration, so the AskBot folks can work in a clean environment, documenting their work for our infra docs. I'll keep you posted, but I am happy that finally something is moving here. :-) Thanks a lot to Olivier for kicking this off, and thanks a lot to Alex for helping me with the KVM yesterday evening! There are some key pieces that would be really helpful (e.g. some kind of status like 'NEEDINFO') that we could definitely discuss with them. The Fedora folks also use Askbot, IIRC, so perhaps we could pool some funds if there's a big feature we both want. Hi Olivier, The Brazilian team (pt-BR) has all strings for askbot ready to spin.. Thanks for the great work :) When are we going to turn Askbot into production? Unfortunately I was busier than expected during the last few weeks (Should have guessed that as Christmas was approaching fast ;) ). I will try to merge upstream changes and set up askbot on the production server before the end of the holidays (that means end of first week 2012).
