A search for "Fedora cloud images" brings up the several wiki pages and some junk. It would be nice if the each page were nicely tailored for people looking for that particular download. For cloud images, "Fedora Cloud Images" should lead in the html title tag, for example. Also, I would like to see greater prominence for the cloud image for F20. I'm going to propose a number of aspects to FESCO, and among them, I'd like the cloud images to be next to the main desktop spin in visibility on the main download page. -- Ticket URL: <https://fedorahosted.org/fedora-websites/ticket/210#comment:2> fedora-websites <https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Websites> Fedora Website Team's Trac instance -- websites mailing list websites@lists.fedoraproject.org https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/websites

#210: Should we re-organize download pages? --+--- Reporter: robyduck | Owner: webmaster Type: enhancement | Status: new Priority: major| Milestone: Component: get.fp.o | Keywords: Blocked By: | Blocking: --+--- Our actual download pages are still remanends from older methods of shipping Fedora. We had 6 or 7 CDs, spins and some netinstall CDs, but now the arches and formats are much more and we are creating confusion. This leads to misunderstandings and we are also not able to promote all the arches the right way. Actually we have 4 download pages on fp.o: * get-fedora * get-fedora-options * get-fedora-all * get-prerelease and we have also http://spins.fedoraproject.org My thought would be to: * Drop the get-fedora-all page completely * Avoid any kind of duplicates, i.e. some spins (the major ones) are available on 2 or 3 pages. All spins should reside on spins.fp.o! * Use the get-fedora page to promote all the shipping methods The clearest method to do so IMHO would be to drop also the right random banners we have on the sidebar (Desktop, 2nd-arches, Cloud, Spins) and to put them into the get-fedora page.\\ They should link to the tabs in get-fedora-options or to our spins page and give users a clear idea of what is available.\\ Same for get-pre-release: it would be easy to promote on the get-fedora page, and we could also advertise it better on our main page. On the mainpage we'll keep the beta-banner for some other few days before switching to the countdown banner. This should make the Beta release more visible on our main fpo page. In the meanwhile the external counter is already working for the third part pages. I think we should remake all the download pages, or at least "syncronize" them better. Now we have also the ARM Beta release which actually is not available on our pages, and the Cloud Images now are also included in the prerelease page.\\ So, images are becoming more and more and we risk to create confusion between end users by adding links and new ISOs everywhere, IMHO. I would be more happy if we keep only the most used Beta releases on our get- prerelease page, adding an Alpha/Beta section for 2nd arches and cloud in get-fedora-options (which should appear only when we are on pre-release state); just an idea but what about deepen this topic a little bit more? -- Ticket URL: <https://fedorahosted.org/fedora-websites/ticket/205#comment:1> fedora-websites <https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Websites> Fedora Website Team's Trac instance -- websites mailing list websites@lists.fedoraproject.org https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/websites

This is not the case any more as we moved POs pulling outside of the build. The only other reason that I have is about wrong RSS file, that we fail to parse correctly. There could be an infinite loop at some point. We already corrected something similar 2 years ago, but there could be a similar issue. Last freeze was few days ago, and it got stuck for several hours until I killed it. I have noticed the Fedora Planet Android app being crashing as well (no feed, blank results) on the same time. It got resolved alone on both at the approximated same time. Therefore, we can probably improve the Fedora Planet RSS feed. This means importing the schedule directly to fp.o sites instead of having it "only" on the wiki, right? If yes, we should consider linking the fpo/schedule page also in the main fpo page, as requested in ticket #162. If I remember right we have a link to the wiki scheduling page during Alpha and Beta stage, although it's not very visible actually. If we want to have such a page, which imports the schedule as XML, we could use this page also for: * Autohide the Alpha button at "Release date + 10 days" (for example) #141 * Manage the release counter better by grabbing the date automatically #142 -- Ticket URL: <https://fedorahosted.org/fedora-websites/ticket/197#comment:1> fedora-websites <https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Websites> Fedora Website Team's Trac instance -- websites mailing list websites@lists.fedoraproject.org https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/websites

I don't know the right procedure but I think you need a valid account to download it. Yes, you need a valid account. This won't download anything, but will take you to the wizard to start the instance in Amazon's EC2 cloud service. (Note that clicking doesn't actually start anything, so it won't cost you anything to try.) Ubuntu's button results in this: [[Image(ubuntu-launch.png, 600px)]] Whereas ours just sticks you here: [[Image(fedora-launch.png, 600px)]] > Could you please tell us which link you mean exactly? The same ones that Ubuntu is using. A URL like https://console.aws.amazon.com/ec2/home?region=us-east-1#launchAmi=ami- 6145cc08 appears to work. > The 'launch' is on the top of the column and at mouseover you will see a description title, much better than having 20 buttons with 'launch' written on it, IMHO. I agree that a repeated grid of options isn't ideal. Maybe a drop-down to select the region and architecture, instead of the current table? -- Ticket URL: <https://fedorahosted.org/fedora-websites/ticket/132#comment:7> fedora-websites <https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Websites> Fedora Website Team's Trac instance -- websites mailing list websites@lists.fedoraproject.org https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/websites

Takes you to the amazon web services start page but doesn't take you to the instance launch. Also, once it's working, I wonder if the cloud button could be enhanced with something to indicate that it's a button? Maybe just the text "launch"? -- Ticket URL: <https://fedorahosted.org/fedora-websites/ticket/132#comment:5> fedora-websites <https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Websites> Fedora Website Team's Trac instance -- websites mailing list websites@lists.fedoraproject.org https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/websites
