Brilliant - deleting FTP.last worked, it happily uploaded reports.hmtl once it

Thanks for the help - what a great forum...

[weewx-user] question about external sensors and resync data from a lost connection

2019-06-07 Thread 'Christian Peters' via weewx-user
Hi all,

I have a question concerning some insights of weewx.
The setup: Vanatge Pro and a linux box inside the house running weewx, runs
smooth since years.

Now I built in the garden additional a little homemade station with a rain
bucket and two temp sensors (2m and 5cm above ground) and a gamma radiation
sensor.
They are connected to an Arduino, which is connected via a serial
connection to a BananaPi with WLAN.
On the BananPi I run a python script which reads the values from the
Arduino and store them into a InfluxDB and prallel send the values via MQTT
to the Linux box to a
second instance of weewx ("sensweewx" I named it) and there in an extra
database which I can access from the main instance of weewx and get nice
graphs even of the external sensors on the html page.
The BananaPi outside and the Linux machine inside are connected via WLAN as
many people recommend not to wire the BananaPi from the garden (about 3m)
via Ethernet to the Linux box in the house
because of the potential difference.

All runs fine, but it gets interesting if there is some rain and bad
weather to oberservate.
But if heavy rain starts the WLAN connetion will be interrupted sometimes.
This even happens from time to time without any cause, I can't figure out
why.
Sadly if the connection was lost I lost my data of the extrenal sensors at
the disconnection period
.
This seems no problem with the Vantage!? There seems to be in the buid in
logger some kind of storage which holds the data and if I reconnect to
weewx it grabs the data from the Vantage/logger
and I have no gaps in the diagrams and database!? That's cool.

So what could you recommend for my setup to get the data stored at the
BananaPi into the weewx database of my external senors even If I lost
connection?
MQTT seems not the best choice. Are there some ways or drivers in weewx
which looks for the last data it has in the databse for the external
sensors and grab them from the BananaPi?
Can I maybe use the InfluxDB to achive such a behavior of auto getting
missed data and resync to the live data!?

Sorrya little bit confusedhope it's clear what I want to solve!?

Thanks for any suggstions and ideas!

Regards,

Christian

[weewx-user] Re: Expand Smartphone Template

2019-06-07 Thread Andrew Milner
Smartphone (with the upper case S) goes with the Seasons skin

smartphone (with lower case s) goes with the older Standard skin

I have not used Seasons so do not have any idea how it works - but I
believe everything can be set in weewx.conf with no need for seperate
skin.conf files whilst the older Standard does make use of skin.conf

So perhaps, if you are using Seasons, you should be changing weewx.conf
rather than /smartphone/skin.conf

[weewx-user] Failure of wunderfixer

2019-06-07 Thread Gareth Hunt
Greetings,

[Still a newbie user.]

I live in rural USA where a landline DSL will probably be available some
time after Hell freezes over. So I have to rely on a satellite link. Not
surprisingly, this fails when there are adverse atmospheric conditions.
There were thunderstorms for several hours on June 7. So wunderfixer to
the rescue! However, it failed. Here is the code snippet with my added
print statement in class Wunderstation.

_url =
"http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.asp?ID=%s&"\
"month=%d&day=%d&year=%d&format=1" % (self.station,
dayRequested_tt[1], dayRequested_tt[2], dayRequested_tt[0])
print _url # My addition

try :
# Hit the weather underground site:
_wudata = urllib2.urlopen(_url)
except urllib2.URLError as e :
print >>sys.stderr, "Unable to open Weather Underground station
" + self.station, " or ", e

This gave:

bin$ ./my.wunderfixer
Using configuration file /home/weewx/weewx.conf.
Using database binding 'wx_binding', which is bound to database
'archive_sqlite'
http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.asp?ID=KVASCOTT14&month=6&day=7&year=2019&format=1
Unable to open Weather Underground station KVASCOTT14 or HTTP Error 403:
Forbidden
Could not get Weather Underground data. Exiting.

However, when I copied and pasted the printed http address into my browser,
everything was fine. I could see all of the reported records with the
expected data gaps. I did not get HTTP Error 403 (i.e., e).

So I have some (hopefully trivial) permission error with my access to
Wunderground. Can somebody suggest what it is and how I get it fixed?

Thanks,
Gareth.

Try this:

Go to "/home/weewx/util/apache/conf.d"

Rename "conf.d" to "weewx.conf"

Modify the file since you are using apache 2.4.25.

Place a copy in the "/etc/apache2/conf-available" and
"/etc/apache2/conf-enabled" folders

restart apache server

restart weewx and wait 5 minutes then try loading the web page.

Re: [weewx-user] Re: Belchertown skin 1.0 released!

2019-06-07 Thread Colin Larsen
Adnan, look for a line in your skin.conf/weewx.conf (depending on where you
have things specified) like this one. Add observations in the order that
you like to see them

station_observations = barometer, dewpoint, outHumidity, cloudbase,
rainWithRainRate, UV, radiation

 Belchertown skin 1.0 is released!

This update contains a lot of updates and changes including *an entire
rewrite of the Highcharts system* which allows you to make almost any
graph you want for almost any time span you want. You can see some examples
of the charts you can make on the BelchertownWeather.com website
 graphs page .

You can add/remove/change/reorder any chart, change colors, add
observation plots, categorize for all time. Almost anything you want to do
is available! The skin comes with the standard 4 charts ready to go, but
 there's extensive Belchertown Charts Documentation

which can help you get started.

In addition to the Charts there's now a dark mode (which has an
auto-switching mode based on sunset/sunrise), more flexibility for
translations, user customized station observation table which is updated in
real time if the MQTT Websockets are enabled, and a lot more. Check the
release notes for all the details!

You can download the latest release here
 ,
and read all of the details on the changes here:
 https://github.com/poblabs/weewx-belchertown/releases

*Note: You cannot upgrade from Belchertown 0.9 and older*. You must
uninstall everything and reinstall new. This is due to the Chart system
being fully rewritten and the potential for conflicts. Please read
this upgrade guide if you are upgrading from an older version of
 Belchertown skin

 .

Thanks to all the beta testers and translators over the last couple of
months help me iron out all the kinks and shape the skin in a way that can
 be translated a little easier!

Attached are some examples of the charts that can be made. If you find
any issues, you can reply here or open an issue on the Belchertown
 skin GitHub page .
