Re: [weewx-user] Sunshine Database

2022-06-29 Thread 'Peter Fletcher' via weewx-user
Have you had any odd weewx errors or crashes related to the sunshine
calculations? I ask because I hadn't, but I decided to try to 'backfill' my
database with sunshine times, based on the 5-minute radiation values, and I
ran into a bizarre bug. I used the code shown below (on a copy of my live
weewx database). As you will see, the threshold calculation code is
essentially identical to yours, except that it has been converted to a
regular function (no 'self' parameter) and my station's latitude and
longitude are hard coded in it. When the code is run under Python 3.9.2 on
my Pi, it initially runs without problems, but crashes after 8,000+ records
have been processed with a ValueError on the MaxThreshold vs threshold
comparison, reporting that it can't compare a complex with a float! If I
intercept and log the errors, it turns out that, for a few specific values
of dateTime, the function returns a complex number! Even more bizarrely, it
only seems to do that in the context of the running code. If I manually run
through all the operations from the function code at the Python command
line, using the value of dateTime that produces the first crash, all the
intermediate results and the final result are sane floats.
There appears to be a second issue, possibly related to my reading and
writing the database at relatively high frequency, which stalls the process
after about 18,000 records have been processed, but removing the database
writes allows it to run to completion without abolishing the consistent,
albeit infrequent, ValueErrors.

[weewx-user] Adding more RESTful services for supplying data

2022-06-29 Thread Kruse Ludington
I am utilizing all of these for publishing data from my weather station:

weewx.restx.StdStationRegistry
weewx.restx.StdWunderground
weewx.restx.StdPWSweather
weewx.restx.StdCWOP
weewx.restx.StdWOW
weewx.restx.StdAWEKAS

Therefore I am already in MADIS and all the other sites that feed off of
it, and also though the API's available within my AmbientWeather WS-2902C
console. This may cause some redundancy with data going to the same place
from more than one source from me (Ambientweather connection and weewx),
but in each case my station name is unique and each update sent has a
unique ID and also the measurements are the same if they are from the same
time so it should be no issue. Note, that when one of the services is down
as they all are occassionally, the data will still be sent, so that means
data from my station has an even lower downtime. In any event, I believe we
should still feed data to a growing number of places. The above 6 have been
in weewx for a LOOONG time... I am sure there must be newer ones that
should be added, no?

So, are there any other sites we can publish to, that anyone can think of
that can be added into the system within weewx utilizing these RESTful
services? Is there a centralized repository of weather provider web sites,
maybe from some meteorological (sp?) society?

Deleting the content of the /var/www/html/weewx directory (not the

2022-06-29 Thread gjr80
OK. Remember that different WeeWX output is produced/updated at different
intervals. All html files should be updated each report cycle. Plot files
are updated depending on the aggregate interval being used in the plot. For
day plots it is every report cycle, for week plots it is every one hour,
month plots every three hours and year plots every 24 hours. The current
month and year NOAA format reports are updated each report cycle but
earlier reports are never touched.

To get everything back to a common baseline I suggest you delete all of the
WeeWX generated content in the /var/www/html/weewx directory on your WeeWX
machine and restart WeeWX. WeeWX will then regenerate everything during the
next report cycle. You should then be able to see exactly what is generated
and current and what is not.

Gary

The loop fetching data from the station is running without problems, but
the /var/www/html/weewx files updated with very much delay (about 25 min).
The index.html in that directory said 29.06.2022 09:37:56 a few minutes
ago, the png had the time stamp of 29.06.2022 08:07:57 (from the first run
of the service today) at the same time, and now since a few minutes they
are updated as well as of 29.06.2022 10:07:56. Monthly and Yearly summaries
do not work ("nothing specified") although the pngs in the web server root
seem to be updated.

So WeeWX is running without error, loop packets and archive records are
being populated and the Seasons skin reports/images are being produced. So
what are you seeing now that is not right?
