I set BOOST_ROOT to /usr/local in ~/.bashrc
/usr/local/include/boost/config.hpp is present
All the libboost_*.so are in /usr/local/lib
But still I'm getting the same error.

Hi Alec,

In FC8, the default device is apparently "pulse", a virtual PulseAudio
device. I suspect that all devices will be moving to dmix, plughw or
pulse within a pretty short time, so we're not likely to have a problem
for long.

Cheers,
Dave.

2007-09-26 Thread Alec leamas
In my case there is problems when the sound playing
(alsa_sndfile.cpp) and the regular audio tries to open the
same device simultaneously. It works if the device used id a
virtual one (e g mixer) but not if it's a physical card. In my
case, the "default" device is a physical card, hence these
problems.

Sooner or later we will have to unify the the things playing
sounds and handling the audio the use the same open file.

Dead right.

I have just done a run through and fixed the outstanding issues with
WengoPhone, Wengophone, and Wengo. One small change worth noting is that
there's still one Wengo left: the Copyright notice in the about dialog.

I will do that in the future when updating translations. po2ts strips
that header. So, I'm wondering if msgmerge might over-write some
translations from svn?

Cheers,
Dave.

Yes, these strings will be fuzzy, which is totally normal.

Sure you can do a search/replace in the PO/POT files but I noticed that
the file still uses strings with 'Wengo' or 'Wengophone'.

The easliest (?) thing to do is to run a global search & replace on the
old .po files, convert them to .ts files, make lupdate, convert the
resulting .ts files to .po files, and upload those. But I'm not
confident in a blind search & replace for this.
I used Kbabel successfully in this kind of situations, without
complains. But i'm sure some translators would disagree.

without dumping the Last Translator header from the .po file - I'd
really like to keep credit where credit is due in the translations.

You can use the translate-toolkit and the GNU gettext tools for that.
Create the new TS template, run ts2po, and then msgmerge old

[Wengophone-devel] JItter buffer and Alsa buffer

2007-09-26 Thread Alec leamas
Looking for wisdom, I found this in the twinkle alsa driver:

// The number of periods determines the ALSA application
buffer size.
// This size must be larger than the jitter buffer.
// TODO: use some more sophisticated algorithm here: read
back the period
// size and calculate the number of periods needed
(only in the
//   short latency case)?
if (buffersize <= 64) {
periods *= 8;
} else if (buffersize <= 256) {
periods *= 4;
}

Anybody out there who understands what this means? I think Dan
Sandberg mentioned a jitter buffer somewhere, but I lost his
address.

The Firefox extension, in its current state, is available in svn in
https://dev.openwengo.org/svn/openwengo/wengophone-firefox/trunk/openwengo/

It's free software, so do with it as you will. It hasn't been actively
maintained for several months, so it's not up to date either for the
softphone or for Firefox (won't work with Firefox 2). also, as far as I
known, there is no IM in there.

OpenWengo Mobile also has no IM, and in addition it isn't free software,
the source code isn't available.

Cheers,
Dave.

Try setting BOOST_ROOT to /usr/local.

Make sure that /usr/local/include/boost/config.hpp exists.

Make sure that libboost_*.so are in /usr/local/lib.

Check CMakeCache.txt for info on what is found & not found.

Hopefully doing these will help you get past the problem.

People who translate now may have to come back to translate 2 or 3

Does it mean we reached string freeze? I am a bit confused because in your

"""
The next release will thus be a pre-release - it will be feature frozen and
string frozen to allow translators time to update the translations for the

Do you mean it doesn't work with PortAudio on Fedora right now? Because if it

[Wengophone-devel] Translations are open for the 2.2 series!

2007-09-26 Thread Dave Neary
Hi all,

The translation template has been loaded into Launchpad for the 2.2
release series, and translations are now open!
https://translations.launchpad.net/wengophone/2.2/+pots/qtwengophone

There are still a few remaining languages in the process of being
imported, but you can already fire ahead and start making some of those
translations (mostly they're changes from Wengo to %PROVIDER% and things
like that) - I don't think there are very many new strings in there.

Unfortunately, in spite of spending some time on the issue, I didn't
figure out a way to automate the process starting from the old .ts
files, thus reducing the work for you guys - if anyone has suggestions,
I'm all ears.

Also, I would really love to hear from someone who has an idea of how I
can go through a .po to .ts to .po cycle with the translate-toolkit
without dumping the Last Translator header from the .po file - I'd
really like to keep credit where credit is due in the translations.

Cheers,
Dave.
