Re: [Wesnoth-dev] Soul shooter - Aptrgangr : please revert it

2007-07-29 Thread Benoit Timbert
As Ivanovic said the issue has been resolved.
The issue was was new name was much worse that the former name, thus without any
better solution that kind of change should be have been reverted. Hopefully a
new solution came fast :)

The 'Aptrgangr' was especially bad because such a name suggested it was a melee
unit.
Also (and i did not know this), according to a norwegian translator 'Aptrgangr'
is actually a plural form (of 'Aptrgang').
'Draug' worked fine because it was given to a melee unit.

According to the only google reference I could find (so this really
*is* obscure), http://www.vikinganswerlady.com/ghosts.shtml, Aptrgangr
is a synonym for Draugr, so would be bad using both for different
units anyway.

I had looked through the log for 7/23 (or was it 24) and saw that
one; I was about to mention it as a candidate, too.

I think we have a winner.

I made a script just before to automatically create wiki syntax from
about.cfg. So with this, it would be easy to, say, once a week update
the Credits page from the about.cfg in SVN. The only place to update
credits would then be about.cfg in SVN (and the wiki page could be
made read-only, or changes to the previous week manually backported to
 about.cfg).

Okay, I did modify the page to act as Protected. This means only sysops can
edit it. Here is the list of accounts
which will be able to edit it:
   1. Allefant
   2. Ayin
   3. Dave
   4. Isaac
   5. Ivanovic
   6. Jorda
   7. Ott
   8. Scott
   9. WikiSysop
  10. Xan
  11. Zookeeper

It would be nice if *noone* handedited it. It should only be updated via the
update script Elias/allefant writes.
Please make all your edits to the credits ingame, the list on the website will
be generated out of the about.cfg list.

[Wesnoth-dev] Naming proposal -- the Three Sisters

2007-07-29 Thread Eric S. Raymond
According to the map meant to be shown at the end of Liberty, Relnan
and the survivors from two villages sail off to the three unnamed
islands off the Great Continent's west coast north of Alduin. The
only directions he leaves Baldras are to keep going west when Baldras
reaches the coast, which is not just silly but geographically wrong --
Baldras would have to sail southwest.

The easiest way for Relnan to leave usable directions would be to name
the islands. They do not currently have a name. I propose that we
dub them The Three Sisters.

To add these to the main map, I'll need a source for the font that was
used for the legends on it. Sirp, jetryl, what was that?

Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there
be one, he must more approve the homage of reason, than that of
blindfolded fear Do not be frightened from this inquiry from any
fear of its consequences. If it ends in the belief that there is no
God, you will find incitements to virtue in the comfort and
pleasantness you feel in its exercise...
