[Wien] Problem after installation

2008-01-31 Thread Peter Blaha
The problem with permissions is most likely not your working directory or
nn.def, but
this one (the $WIENROOT dir)
/usr/share/wienroot/Wien/nn: Permission denied.

ls -als /usr/share/wienroot/Wien/nn must show "x" permissions.

files -> show all files -> /usr/share/wienroot/Wien/nn/nn.def

The file nn.def should NOT even exist in /usr/share/wienroot/Wien/nn

To make it clear:
You should have a WIENROOT directory (echo $WIENROOT) and this contains
executables and scripts. They must have "x-permission", otherwise you can't
execute this program. Modifications ("w"-permissions) is NOT enough.

Your "case" should run an a "case" directory. This should NOT be a subdirectory
of $WIENROOT, but somewhere else (your home-dir), and in particular a directory
"nn" directly in $WIENROOT will not work.

[Wien] Problem after installation

2008-01-30 Thread Julia Messel
Dear Ricardo,
Thank you for your answer.
We also did execute the program as root.
But i think that this is not the problem.
We can read and write the file with any editor and we can edit it with Wien2K.
We set the permissions to 777 (recursive) for the whole directorytree and all
its files, so any account on this computer shoud be able to read/write/execute
the files. Furthermore we changed owner and group to our working-account.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Julia

[Wien] Problem after installation

2008-01-30 Thread Julia Messel
Dear Wine2k-Users,

We just installed Wine2k on Ubuntu 7.10 on a commercial PC.
If we try to initialize the calculation with
[x nn] -> nn-bondlength factor 2 [Execute]
we get the following error-msg:

Commandline: x nn
Program input is: "2 "

Invalid null command.
/usr/share/wienroot/Wien/nn: Permission denied.
0.0u 0.0s 0:00.00 0.0% 0+0k 0+0io 0pf+0w
error: command   /usr/share/wienroot/Wien/nn nn.def   failed

we set the permissions to 777 for the whole directory.
We are able to modify the nn.def-file from the Wien2k-program

Files -> show all files -> /usr/share/wienroot/Wien/nn/nn.def

so i think the permissions for file and directory are OK.

Can anybody help us?

Best regards
Julia Messel

Dear Julia
First of all you should change the permission to the scripts, in this
case "nn". Did you execute this scripts as a super user (root)?

Ricardo
