This is a really big transparency issue, as no information is shown and there is no link to the move log (see (2) in the original bug description). That was probably an illusion. The figure on Special:Statistics is a rough estimate of the real figure, it depends mainly on the db slave you're hitting. en.wikipedia currently uses about 7 slave servers, so you can very well get 7 totally different values, when you reload Special:Statistics a few times. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. I certainly like to argue that we definitely shouldn't support numeric formats such as 31.12.2008 12.31.2008 or worse 31.12.67 The only place people use 12.31.2008 is in the US and on enwiki we use both US and European formats. Using these ambiguous date should be strongly discourages and certainly not supported by the sorting script. Supporting 31.12.67 should be punishable by summary execution!! Same problems as before and y2k bug anyone! Not to mention the y2050 bug. For an encyclopedia which tries to have articles written with historical perspective 31.12.67 or 12.31.67 should be a definite no no. Sometimes less is more. We should just focus on 4 formats commonly used on enwiki: 1 January 2009 January 1, 2009 (with and without the comma) 1 Jan 2009 (also 01-Jan-2009) 2009-01-01 and leave the rest out to wither and die. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 17339] New: User group changes not effective when using UserLoadFromSession hook
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17339 Summary: User group changes not effective when using UserLoadFromSession hook Product: MediaWiki Version: 1.13.0 Platform: Sun URL: http://(internal) OS/Version: Solaris Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: Normal Component: Installation AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: puheli...@googlemail.com MediaWiki 1.13.0 PHP 5.2.6 (apache2handler) MySQL 5.0.67-log Warning - you are about to enter the world of X Files! I have implemented the UserLoadFromSession hook (UserAuthTGST.php code attached) to authenticate the user via our SSO. It was quite a battle (see bug 17077) but I thought I'd finally sorted it. Apparently not - strap yourself in! I have two IDs - SS (created in the standard way) and Sam.Sexton (created using the hook). When, as SS, I gave Sam.Sexton sysop and bureaucrat access, the latter could see the restricted pages in Special Pages. However, when I granted someone group membership via the User rights management page, instead of clearing the group list etc., the page refreshed showing the boxes I'd ticked as empty. I did some research and updated the hook so that it called User-loadFromId() rather than loadFromDatabase(), as the former manages the cache. That was successful, but it made no effective difference. I have turned on SQL debugging and can see where the successful and failing paths diverge. Before I show you those, the problem disappeared for Sam.Sexton after I commented out the hook definition in LocalSettings, logged in as SS and then reversed that process - it all works fine for Sam.Sexton now but the problem persists with users to whom I have granted admin rights. Here is the indication of the successful call to loadFromId() from my own logging file: 2009-02-03 13:48:23 Page: /d3wiki/index.php/Special:UserRights 2009-02-03 13:48:23 TGSTWiki cookie found 2009-02-03 13:48:23 Entering UserAuthTGST::loadFromDatabaseTGST ... 2009-02-03 13:48:23 Cookie exploded: 8001532, kxxx.b...@mydomain.com, Kxxx, Bxxx 2009-02-03 13:48:23 DB entry found for employee id 8001532 with user id 133 and name Kxxx.Bxxx 2009-02-03 13:48:23 loadFromId succeeded for user ID 133 and name Kxxx.Bxxx From Special:Listusers: Kxxx.Bxxx ?(bureaucrat, nsD3PRIVRW, nsD3PRIV_TalkRW, sysop) Here are extracts from the debug log for (firstly) a failed attempt by KB to give GB nsD3PRIVRW membership. [Bug 835] syntax to transclude a page without the containing page inheriting categories , interlanguage links
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=835 --- Comment #61 from cenarium.sy...@gmail.com 2009-02-03 15:42:00 UTC --- It cannot handle pages with dynamically transcluded templates and would be difficult to use for sandboxes and draft pages, which is almost all the use for this on enwiki (we have thousands, see for example [[Wikipedia:Database reports/Polluted categories]]). There is only nocat ... /nocat that can handle this, and decat ... /decat for demonstration/new user pages such as sandboxes, articles for creation... I think the names are different enough, nocat for No Category, and decat for decategorize. __DECATEGORY__ and __NOCATEGORY__ are not especially needed if we have the tags. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. Changing a page content using the api-edit-module only works with the local cookie. Sending only the three centralauth-Cookies on an edit request returns a badtoken-error. Because the local cookie names and values change on each wiki it would be nice to not relogin on every wiki. This is gonna be non-trivial to reproduce for me, so can you make sure that you used the same cookies for the token request and the edit request? The token depends on your cookie, so you can't get a token with a deWiki cookie and use it with a centralauth cookie (that's more or less the point of tokens). Please try using one set of tokens (only the deWiki ones or only the centralauth ones) for both the token retrieval and the edit request, and see if the issue persists. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

[Bug 17342] Log entries deleted with RevisionDelete feature still appear when searching with [[Special:Log]].
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17342 --- Comment #5 from Splarka h...@goldrush.com 2009-02-04 00:45:33 UTC --- That way you can easily find out what a deleted log entry contained, with the use of some brute force. Giving this a try, there is (as of this writing) one oversight-level hidden revision on test.wikipedia. With some guessing, I was able to narrow this down to a log entry, in the deletion log, by DerHexer: http://test.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3ALogtype=deleteuser=DerHexerpage=year=month=-1 Now, finding the target of this deletion log entry is a bit of work but... There are less than 10,000 deleted articles in the main namespace (and a few thousand in all the rest combined), and approx 20,000 undeleted pages in all namespaces. As it is a deletion entry, it applies to either a deleted article, a deleted revision, an undeletion, or a visibility change on a revision or log entry. If it is a log entry, you could brute force which type of log via Special:Log/delete?page=Special:Log/block Special:Log/delete Special:Log/makebot etc. If it is a deleted page you could brute force by checking the Special:Log?page= of all deleted pages (using deletedrevs via the API to find the titles, which requires a sysop flag, but as this is an oversight-level hidden entry, it should be hidden from sysops). This is shown automatically on action=edit, for example: http://test.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Category:APPERaction=editredlink=1 so someone may find it accidentally. If it is a deleted revision of a non-deleted page, you could find it via action=history of all undeleted pages. Note that none of these methods seem to expose the comment content of a hidden log entry, but the user and target page/log title can be found. As for the alternate case, of trying to expose a hidden revision, it doesn't seem you can expose the content or comment of the revision either, just find the user and target page in the same method as above. Note that deleted log entries are _not_ shown in the API, nor do any of the list=logevents parameters match deleted information. The UI and API should probably match behavior. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug.
