https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1871 --- Comment #3 from SJ 2009-04-18 22:46:13 UTC --- like bug 1870 and bug 7566, this is a bug related to history-spelunking, something to which MediaWiki and like tools are uniquely suited and which is not being actively addressed. This is the natural extension of having universal access to revision history. Something for more than just the toolserver; if this can be effectively merged into core, perhaps in a way that throttles the total number of such request smade an hour via a local setting, it would provide for some excellent improvements to special:random and site statistics. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 167] Use a dedicated interface for adding interwiki/category links, not wikitext
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=167 --- Comment #22 from SJ 2009-04-18 22:38:08 UTC --- Amir's new bug #15607 is useful and relevant. I'm pushing for that to be fixed so that there is a basis for discussing the schema change implied in this bug. I don't agree with Aryeh's renaming, but there should indeed be two separate bugs. == under the group of 'multiwiki use of mediawiki' == 1) provide a way to identify a keyword for an article, and a url where one can go to find the set of interwiki links associated with it. I imagine this as a schema change that adds a (keyword_id) to each article, a (keyword_id, keyword) table, and globally set (interwiki_url) which is a regexp indicating where to insert a keyword to get the interwiki list for that article. 1a) make this work with other languages of the same project on the same servers 1b) make it work as well with wikipedia articles about the same topic (in a selected # of languages) This could involve a script that lets you autopopulate a local interwiki with a selected # of languages of wp articles, and an optional fallback to a wikipedia interwiki url if none other is available. Related interface changes would include a small header above the interlang list indicating the jump from local interlang links to ''wikipedia'' links. == under the group of 'wikimedia interfaces' == 2) provide a separate interface for modifying interlang links for a topic - perhaps using the interlanguage extension and simply holding all of that on another wiki (as with Commons). This interface should allow one to indicate special cases, such as topics with multiple definitions in one language but single definitions in another, and other cases where interlang links are not reciprocal. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 15607] Implement the Interlanguage extension in Wikipedia
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15607 SJ changed: What|Removed |Added CC||spidermanneq...@yahoo.com --- Comment #34 from SJ 2009-04-18 21:54:17 UTC --- I agree with most of the recent posters : this is a most useful improvement. I hope it gets tested and implemented soon, at least on the small wikis. 1. the overhead of handling bot requests on small wikis, for nothing but interwiki link fixing, is sufficiently large that there is separate global-bot policy addressing it and making their bot flagging more automatic. of course those bots can still misfire, and you want to be able to see what bot edits are being made to actual content and userpages rather than to interwiki lists at the end of content -- having a separate wiki where all these edits can be made together and can have a more limited impact would be handy. 2. We will surely update how this process works over time. It has been broken for many years; we can at least begin to fix it in this way, which many would welcome. 3. It makes sense to me to have a single community / area where everyone doing interwiki link maintenance cna see one another's changes, have their own RC, and discuss interwiki policy across wikis. This will stop flooding small wikis and also create a mroe sustainabile community among the hundreds of people running related bots today -- which you can discover by visiting the village pump of any poor small wiki which is overrun with english-language 'requests' for bot flags, also flooding the bot-flagging process on meta. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 18508] New: FORCENOTOC : more granular toc control for transclusion
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18508 Summary: FORCENOTOC : more granular toc control for transclusion Product: MediaWiki Version: unspecified Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: Normal Component: Page rendering AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: spidermanneq...@yahoo.com Currently, the first __TOC__ to appear in a page overrules any __NOTOC__ as well as the implicit table of contents rendering above the first section. When transcluding a number of pages, which may themselves contain such directives, it becomes useful for the parent page to be able to force layout details of the resulting text + transclusions. For this purpose, a __FORCENOTOC__ directive would be useful, which would lock the page into a NOTOC mode even if __TOC__ directives appeared later in the page. A __TOC__ placed at the top of the page could still lock the page into TOC mode, if desired. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. Similar requests would include navigating specialpages that are only kept around for a fixed period of time, such as newpages, and even snapshots of logs that include later-deleted pages or accounts (some of these limited to admins). These are most useful interfaces especially for generating various statistics : the # of pages generated and deleted a day, for instance; or the average lifetime of a newly created page. And the body of users who wants and could improve on these ideas are different from readers and editors; so all in all this could be run as an extension on a stats-server or toolserver. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470 --- Comment #7 from SJ 2009-04-18 21:13:46 UTC --- Watching #cvn-unifications today I noticed what looks like an sr: bot making its way (without editing) through every known wiki. http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:CentralAuth/Шешељевац I wanted a cross-wiki version of this watchlist feature. (I'm sure crosswiki watchlists for pages would also be handy) One way to do this is to have 'watchlist this user' turn into graylisting them for rc and edit monitoring tools. But I would also certainly like the wiki-page version of same; I may just be interested in seeing how this bot works, and how its algorithms are updated, something much easier to see when viewing all edits by date across many sparsely-edited wikis. As an aside, it would be nice to have more than one level of 'enhancement' in describing bug severity, since I have filed a number of enhancements which are just nice-to-haves, and this is something I want with much more practical interest. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. The code is roughly as follows (slightly reformatted for readability): So there are at least 4 separate stylesheets being applied to all media types including those that are not screen/print/handheld. Looking at the site in presentation mode, I actually think the formatting is not terribly bad, the only thing missing is the left hand sidebar, and the "Edit, Discuss, History, Watch" tabs (all of those links are listed linearly at the base of the page). My point is that, *some* styles are at least being fed to *all* media types, so doing simply media="screen, projection" on shared.css and main.css would not necessarily leave aural, tty, etc. completely "style-less" so to speak. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 18483] Images on shared repositories can't be protected by cascading protection
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18483 --- Comment #19 from aka Royalbroil 2009-04-18 13:52:17 UTC --- The Tomorrow template includes only the current version of Did You Know, it gets manually updated every 6 hours or so. The tomorrow solution sounds like it works for Picture of the Day and Today's Featured Article. Tomorrow explains why only Did You Know and In the News images have been vandalized. I don't have any suggestions for In the News, but I do have one for Did You Know. There are 6 staging queues where hooks and images get placed by administrators before they appear on the main page. They could be placed under a template with cascading protection, similar to Tommorrow. There's still the problem of In the News. What fixed the problem? The image hadn't been protected at 2 hours, I cleared my browser cache and the page's cache before clicking edit on the image and it wasn't protected - the error message that p858snake mentioned wasn't there until after your posts. I didn't trust the "view source" tab. Did you clear the main page cache, Andrew? If so, I wonder, could a task be set up on a server to clear the main page cache every minute? Would that result in a performance hit, or would a single minor task like that result in a negligible performance degradation? Even a documented 40 minutes of having an unprotected image on the main page of the English Wikipedia is too scary for me. Sorry to be a pain. https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17535 --- Comment #7 from andreasmeie...@gmx.de 2009-04-18 09:02:48 UTC --- The same problem at http://download.wikipedia.org/ptwiki/20090418/ http://download.wikipedia.org/ptwiki/20090417/ http://download.wikipedia.org/ptwiki/20090416/ http://download.wikipedia.org/ptwiki/20090415/ It seems there is a problem with "Creating split stub dumps..." at big editions. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l
[Bug 18499] New: Allow displaying of enhanced RC by URL parameter
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18499 Summary: Allow displaying of enhanced RC by URL parameter Product: MediaWiki Version: unspecified Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: Normal Component: RecentChanges AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: dann...@email.cz It would be handy if there was some kind of parameter, say "&enhanced=1" in URL to allow users to see enhanced RC. Also some checkbox in options box would be handy for easier switch, but that's not crucial. Allowing of the feature via URL is the most important. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 18498] New: Localized namespaces for mt.wp (2)
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18498 Summary: Localized namespaces for mt.wp (2) Product: MediaWiki Version: unspecified Platform: All URL: http://mt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedija:Pjazza/Arkivju_2 008-8#Ismijiet_tan-Namespace OS/Version: All Status: NEW Keywords: shell Severity: enhancement Priority: Normal Component: Internationalization AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: djchris_porte...@hotmail.com CC: siebr...@wikipedia.be After the latest successful namespace transition on the Maltese Wikipedia (bug #16373), it would be even better if the other two remaining namespaces will be added. These are: * Portal (remains the same) * Portal talk ---> Diskussjoni_portal * Project ---> Proġett * Project talk ---> Diskussjoni_proġett These proposals are done since portal pages on mt.wp are being added to the article count, and we want to reduce this problem. Can the transition be made without any loss of pages, since there are already pages written under the Portal: "namespace"? Apart from this, can the "Wikipedia_talk" namespace be modified since the transition was done to "Wikipedija diskussjoni" which is in incorrect format. The correct one has to "Diskussjoni Wikipedija". Thanks again. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 17631] Good UI for OpenID login interface
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17631 Sergey Chernyshev changed: What|Removed |Added Status|ASSIGNED|RESOLVED Resolution||FIXED --- Comment #1 from Sergey Chernyshev 2009-04-18 07:03:55 UTC --- OK, I rewrote the code getting rid of open-id selector code and doing most of the work on back-end. More importantly, I added a switch to turn the icons on/off and it's off by default so people don't have trouble with branding issues. http://svn.wikimedia.org/viewvc/mediawiki/tags/extensions/OpenID/REL_0_8_4_1/ -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l
