[Bug 8445] Multiple search terms are not enforced properly for Chinese

CJK quoter

How about this patch. Seems to work and maybe not break anything else.
All I'm trying to do is type those quote marks that Brion mentioned
for the user behind the scenes, instead of asking them up front to
type them in, via some embarrassing message. Otherwise what is the
logic of distributing a broken search without the least warning to the
user?

But as Wikipedia uses a better search, repairing this worse search
will be a uphill battle, as without being forced to eat your own
medicine, you won't have any impetus to improve it.

So mediawiki should distribute the good stuff it uses itself instead.

Anyway, note that I only patched zh-hans. This will not help the other
CJK languages that already have their own
languages/classes/Language*.php. Fortunately zh-tw doesn't, so it will
get this fix.

As far as patch quality, well, as it seems nobody cares much about
this old search function, just chuck it in, better than nothing.

All I know is it works for me here on MySQL Linux etc.

OK, sorry. I suppose I was making reminders for myself.

OK, I've traced Pager.php's $s = " wouldn't hurt.

Anyway, maybe there are still some places where Mediawiki is cheating
text browsers out of border="1", by assuming everybody uses
stylesheets. All I can do is a very non-scientific

It would be better to redesign things so the sentences could be

Testing in IE7 the scrubber seems to move along in r51616 Perhaps it was a java
VM issue? does the issue persist after closing the browser and starting it up
again?

Does the issue occur with a particular clip or just in general?

@Conrad:

> This is the current favicon, as shown in opera (which has dark tabs for
everyone) it is horribly unprofessional.

The point is that I do not use coloured tabs (the darker they are the more it
takes to get used to); and *all* other users that have tested the icon (e.g. at
[[de:wikt:Wiktionary:Teestube/Archiv/2008/12#Anderes_Favicon.3F]] seem to not
use coloured tabs too, they all seem to use standard skins (Opera is a
exception with its skin decission). There were no reports yet, I just
discovered this now. The second icon was meant to have reduced size.

> I would recommend reverting back to the original logo which contains the W, a
common element to all Wiktionary logos.

See comment #23, that one would have been perfectly OK (except that it's a tile
too ;-).

> Though why I bother commenting I do not know, I have been completely ignored
> so

That's not true, see comment #20.

"automatically sighted" shown for IP if IP reverted content while sighter was
rolling back:
Example: [[als:Metallica]]

*
http://als.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Metallica&action=history&uselang=en
(shows "automatically sighted" for blocked IP 217.227.127.49)
*
http://als.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&type=review&hide_review_log=1&page=Metallica&uselang=en
(sighted by User:Holder (doing a rollback))

The IP reverted its own nonsense while/before User:Holder reverted the same
content with the rollback function. The result is a wrong declaration of
"automatically sighted" instead of "sighted by Holder".

Well, it seems more folks dislike that change than like it.

I do not want to be involved in the politics and discussion of reaching a
consensus on this issue. So the best way out is to REVERT.

The old W favicon is back. I am not touching this thing again until there has
been documented community consensus for this change. At that point, this
ticket can be reopened (eww) or someone can make a new ticket that will not
have all the consensus discussion on it.

Thats all folks!

When you use IE7, fill in the search box in the above link and then press

the article-namespace. However, if you click on the button "search" the

Updating component, issue with Cite, not core documentation.

Cite uses {{CURRENTTIME}} and friends in its default (and customized on enwiki)
versions. The time of last revision is _NOT_ the current time, which Cite tries
to hide by making the current time the time of last revision (and in turn,
making your last-accessed time--which should be now--into the old time).

Trying to use {{CURRENTTIME}} for both "date of last revision" and "when did
you access this page" is confusing. This should be fixed to use two different
things...maybe a $1 for the old time, and let {{CURRENTTIME}} do its job for
"when did you access this page?"

Putting this in because it's long been a pipe dream of mine...

It would be nice if we eventually got around to cleaning up the maintenance
scripts. Some of them don't even work anymore, some are obsolete and should be
clearly marked as such.

It would be nice to migrate them all to a unified format (maybe an abstract
Maintenance class that various scripts can implement.

The cite page is not parsing the date/time stamp correctly. An example follows

Page name: March 26

Publisher: Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia.
Date of last revision: 27 May 2009 03:38 UTC

The date of last revision and the date retrieved are identical. They should be
two discrete times. I retrieved the page on June 8, 2009.

[Bug 16315] Change favicon for Wiktionaries

Detail of favicon on a black background

This is the current favicon, as shown in opera (which has dark tabs for
everyone) it is horribly unprofessional.

I would recommend reverting back to the original logo which contains the W, a
common element to all Wiktionary logos.

Though why I bother commenting I do not know, I have been completely ignored so
far on this bug.

SMWOrderedListPage::getHTML(); returns an "\n" which
causes layout problems in customized skins different than monobook (e.g.
ontoskin2 or smwforum). This break tag should have an id attribute, so this
specific "clear: both;" can be overwritten by .css files.

Example:
"Pages using the web service" is moved below the menu. Removing this break-tag
or changing it's style to "clear: none;" with firebug solves it.

I'll get to this... Still a lot of make*() deprecated stuff to be worked out.

Line 149 of which file?

Also to the reporter: please use English locale when reporting bugs that have
nothing to do with i18n. My Han Chinese is sluggish.

This is a follow-up to r51559, there is a dot at the end of line 149 that needs
to be replaced with a comma. Do we need a patch :)?
Change severity to normal and add Siebrand to the bug.

--- Comment #7 from James King 2009-06-08 09:48:24 UTC ---
Bump.

Just wanted to see if anyone was still looking into this. It's been over a
month, and the today's featured article feature still says it's May 5
(apparently only for logged off users, like myself).

Like I said before, that is not only on the page shown in the screenshot, but
also for the RSS feed (http://jeays.net/wikipedia/featured.xml). Try logging
off from wikipedia and accessing the RSS feed (though I don't know if being
logged onto wikipedia would have any effect on the rss feed...).

Yeah, that's probably what I meant; the cl_timestamp thing must've been a
mistake.

Not sure what the cl_timestamp key has to do with anything. Wikimedia appears
to be missing patch-categorylinksindex.sql, from bug 10280. That is, it has an
index called cl_sortkey already, but it is (cl_to,cl_sortkey) instead of
(cl_to,cl_sortkey,cl_from).
