For quite some time now, it takes days for the core statistics to be updated.
The hourly statistics are updated more often, but definitely not every hour.

Hello!

Is there is any specific blocker for that view?

Once done, would that be reasonable to have it activated on WMF wikis, or would
it be a no-miser-mode view only?

Thanks!

There's now a lot of activity on the Lëtzebuergesch Wikibooks, so that one
should also not be closed.
On Khmer Wikibooks there's also a bit of activity...
Perhaps we should close this bug: apparently, after some time inactive projects
become active again.

[Bug 20383] New: PHP 5.3.0 throws hooks into an error

2009-08-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20383

   Summary: PHP 5.3.0 throws hooks into an error

  Platform: All
   URL: http://www.yeshiva.org.il/wiki

I wasn't sure, at first this looks like an extension bug, but I think at the
core it's really a general MW bug.

My host upgraded PHP from 5.2.5 to 5.3.0 and hooks went crazy. They're giving
me this error message:
"Detected bug in an extension! Hook __HOOK FUNCTION NAME__ failed to return a
value; should return true to continue hook processing or false to abort."

This happens to many hook extensions, but not all. I can't figure his out, I
think it has to do with PHP 5.3.0 compatibility (functions returning NULL
instead of false?).

Because it happened to a bunch of hook at once I believe it's a problem with
how MW handles the hooks.

returning values from their hooks, like they should. Which extensions are

I have some user scripts depending on jQuery.

They usually works well, but now, after I switched to a new OS (I'm not sure
whether there're any connections), they cannot work well on action=edit pages
(and only edit). After leaving beta, nothing goes wrong.

In nutshell, the wrong behavior is, jQuery cannot always select correct
elements in DOM tree.

I suppose the problem is that your scripts don't work with vector skin (you
know, elements have been moved...).

You should at least specify which scripts are those that are failing, and if
there's any error in the Icewasel console.

Yes, not all IDs and classes in Monobook appear in Vector as well. This means
that your script is skin-specific, and you can't really expect a
Monobook-specific script to magically work on Vector.

I've thought for a while that we should ditch rewrites in favor of a 404

probably allow significantly easier cross-web server setup, if there are no
hitches.

So, when changing the browser's Accept-Language HTTP header from
"en-us,en;q=0.8,zh-cn;q=0.5,zh;q=0.3" to "en-us,en;q=0.5", that is remove all

After opt-out/in, the variant preference will be changed to "zh", whatever you

Try this:

1. Register a new user.
2. Go to Chinese Wikipedia (we put jQuery in site javascript) and edit your
user javascripts to this:

$(function() {
alert($('#p-tb ul').text());
});

3. Switch between beta and non-beta, edit and view, and you will see the
problem.
4. (Optional) You can try this in beta / edit screen: javascript:alert($('#p-tb
ul').text());

We've already solved this by creating a mapping between those id changes as
soon as the vector skin is published on Chinese Wikipedia.

In addition, loading the official jQuery (from Google) will cause the
UsabilityInitiative fail to load.

There's nothing to do with the mapping.

Loading the official jQuery (from Google) causes UsabilityInitiative's failure
because UsabilityInitiative adds $.fn.wikiEditor to jQuery and loading without
checking overwrites it.

It's not a bug. If you're including jQuery in site JS without checking that
it's not already there, *you're* at fault and shouldn't be surprised if it
causes things to break.

[Bug 20386] New: Radix/Decimal character configuration

2009-08-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20386

   Summary: Radix/Decimal character configuration
   Product: MediaWiki extensions
   Version: any
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: Normal
 Component: ParserFunctions
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: hart...@videolan.org

Currently parserfunctions only support . as the decimal separator. This is
highly annoying to some languages which use the , as the decimal separator.
There should be a way to configure this under MediaWiki:Radix-character or
something, so that locale's can use their own radix character.

In my opinion this isn't a good idea, and it would not be possible to keep
backwards compatibility. If you want users to be able to input localised
numbers, convert them first ({{FORMATNUM:##|R}} can do something, but be aware
it is not indented for that use).

[Bug 20389] New: Weird happenings

   Summary: Weird happenings

  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: Normal
 Component: Revision deletion
AssignedTo: jschulz_4...@msn.com
ReportedBy: ft2.w...@gmail.com

Something very strange just happened.

I oversighted (RevDel options: suppress text + admin suppression) 3 revisions
of enwiki [[Talk:Naledi Pandor]].

I then went to recheck one of them, clicked the bold "del/undel" and it
couldn't find the revision to show me - unexpected happening #1.

I refreshed the page (closed tab, reopened page, reclicked "History"), and the
3 revisions had vanished. No placeholder, no revisions with the text link
greyed out - nothing. Unexpected happening #2

However they do appear in the deleted pages list - unexpected happening #3.

On the assumption I'm not going nuts and there hasn't just been a code change,
can someone figure out what's going on?

In fact we have made the calculation using {{formatnum}}, but this is not the
best solution, as for many users it's not intuitive to inter the area with a
point instead of a comma and the population without punctuation. The result is
OK, but all users must know this trick, and it's not very useful for most
wikis.

[Bug 20397] New: Failure of sending parameters to semantic queries from another wiki via $wgEnableScaryTranscluding

2009-08-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20397

   Summary: Failure of sending parameters to semantic queries from
another wiki via $wgEnableScaryTranscluding
   Product: MediaWiki extensions
   Version: any
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: Normal
 Component: Semantic MediaWiki
AssignedTo: mar...@semantic-mediawiki.org
ReportedBy: off...@eurodomenii.com

It is not possible to send parameters to semantic inline queries inside
templates from another wiki via $wgEnableScaryTranscluding.

Example:
wiki1 and wiki2, wiki1 to wiki2 iw_prefix='interwiki2'

Wiki1 wiki1_page

{{raw:interwiki2:wiki2_tpl|direct parameter|city|berlin}}

Wiki2 template wiki2_tpl

Simple parameter {{{1}}} works, but...
{{#ask: [[{{{2}}}::{{{3}}}]]
|format=table
}}
not working...

Recommended settings:

LocalSettings.php
#Transwiki transclusion
$wgEnableScaryTranscluding = true;
$wgTranscludeCacheExpiry=0; # for testing purposes

Recommendations from
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual_talk:$wgEnableScaryTranscluding, 4th
Update -
$forceRawInterwiki variable in Parser.php set to true.
Setup interwiki with ugly url
INSERT INTO interwiki SET iw_prefix='interwiki2',
iw_url='http://www.wiki2.com/v/index.php?title=$1', iw_local=1, iw_trans=1 ;

Solving this issue would lead SMW to another level: semantic queries across
wikis.

Platforms used: MW 1.14.1, SMW 1.4.2

[Bug 19392] Favicon, apple-touch-icon links matching the defaults should not be sent

This does not appear to be the case here. Try http://stats.wikifur.com/ for an
example. Works for me in both Chrome and Firefox, latest versions.

If you have a negative cache hit for favicon.ico for a site, that will cause
the favicon not to show up if you subsequently put a favicon.ico file there but
do not clear the cache, and do not explicitly indicate the presence of one in
your HTML.

[Bug 20398] New: ParserFunction to count number of occurrences

2009-08-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20398

   Summary: ParserFunction to count number of occurrences
   Product: MediaWiki extensions
   Version: any
  Platform: All
   URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requests_for_page
_protection
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: Normal
 Component: ParserFunctions
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: king.of.hearts.w...@gmail.com

Currently, the AbuseFilter can count the number of times a string appears in a
haystack (via count) and the number of times a regex appears in a haystack (via
rcount). I think that it would be useful to have a ParserFunction that could do
the same. In particular, on the referenced RFPP page, we could find the
difference between the number of occurrences of "{{la|" and the number
"{{RFPP|" in order to report an admin backlog when appropriate.

Already exists in ParserFunctions as {{#count}} with $wgPFEnableStringFunctions

Getting that enabled on WMF is bug 6455.

[Bug 20275] LIKE is completely broken for SQLite

2009-08-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20275

--- Comment #7 from Aryeh Gregor   2009-08-26
01:36:41 UTC ---
Okay, it seems like escapeLike() does strencode() as well. So you've got
like() doing no escaping at all.  I think this is potentially quite surprising;
I'd prefer to see it doing addQuotes() on the input. Generally speaking, APIs
that escape more than expected are better than those that escape less than
expected -- the former leads to double-escaping, the latter leads to SQL
injection (or XSS, etc.). escapeLike() clearly can't be used in that case, of
course, some new and confusingly similar method would have to be made that only
does the replacement of _ and % and \ and nothing else.

When reviewing your patch, I got seriously confused about escaping. I had to
rewrite the whole thing twice as I figured out what your method did and what
escapeLike() did and how LIKE works (I didn't realize was necessary for a
single slash in LIKE). As far as I understand it, the correct way to do things
currently is 'LIKE ' . $db->escapeLike( $foo ) . '%', while with your patch the
correct way would be $db->like( $db->escapeLike( $foo ) . '%' ), and I'd like
to see $db->like( $db->someNewName( $foo ) . '%' ).  If I'm wrong, then most of
my review comments here are nonsense. :D

-   $likeprefix = str_replace( '_', '\\_', $prefix);
...
-  AND pl_title LIKE '$likeprefix:%'";
+  AND pl_title " . $wgDatabase->like( $wgDatabase->escapeLike(
$name  ) . ':%' );
...
-   $likeprefix = str_replace( '_', '\\_', $prefix);
...
-  AND {$page}_title LIKE '$likeprefix:%'";
+  AND {$page}_title " . $this->db->like(
$this->db->escapeLike( $name ) . ':%' );

Don't these add double-escaping of some kind? (Or was $likeprefix not already
escaped, and this would previously have been SQL injection if it weren't from a
maintenance script?)

-   array( 'el_index LIKE ' .
$dbr->addQuotes( $like ) ), __METHOD__ );
+   array( 'el_index ' . $dbr->like( $like
) ), __METHOD__ ); // LinkFilter::makeLike already escapes everything
...
-   array( 'el_index LIKE ' . $dbr->addQuotes(
$like ) ), __METHOD__ );
+   array( 'el_index ' . $dbr->like( $like ) ),
__METHOD__ );  // LinkFilter::makeLike already escapes everything

So these were double-escaping before?

+   $this->mQueryConds = array( 'LOWER(img_name) '
$dbr->like( '%' . strtolower( $nt->getDBkey() ) . '%' );

Syntax error? A dot is missing.

-   $m = $dbr->strencode( strtolower(
$nt->getDBkey() ) );
-   $m = str_replace( "%", "\\%", $m );
-   $m = str_replace( "_", "\\_", $m );
-   $this->mQueryConds = array( "LOWER(img_name)
LIKE '%{$m}%'" );
+   $this->mQueryConds = array( 'LOWER(img_name) '
$dbr->like( '%' . strtolower( $nt->getDBkey() ) . '%' );
...
-   $encSearch = $dbr->addQuotes( $stripped );
+   $like = $dbr->like( $stripped );
$encSQL = '';   if ( isset ($this->mNs) &&
!$wgMiserMode )@@ -144,7 +144,7 @@   $externallinks
$use_index   WHERE
page_id=el_from...
-   AND $clause LIKE $encSearch
+   AND $clause $like
...
-   $encRange = $dbr->addQuotes( "$range%" );
$encAddr = $dbr->addQuotes( $iaddr );
$conds[] = "(ipb_address = $encIp) OR
-   (ipb_range_start LIKE $encRange AND
+   (ipb_range_start " . $dbr->like(
"$range%" ) . " AND
...
-   $this->addWhere('el_index LIKE ' . $db->addQuotes(
$likeQuery ));
+   $this->addWhere('el_index ' . $db->like( $likeQuery ));
}
else if(!is_null($protocol))
-   $this->addWhere('el_index LIKE ' . $db->addQuotes(
"$protocol%" ));
+   $this->addWhere('el_index ' . $db->like( "$protocol%"
));

These all remove addQuotes()/strencode(). Are you adding SQL injection here?
Even if theoretically you don't think the variables should contain characters
that need to be escaped, it's better to call addQuotes()/strencode() to be on
the safe side, and the closer to the point of use, the better.

+   $db = $this->mDb;
...
-   $this->mConds[] = $this->mDb->bitAnd('log_deleted',
LogPage::DELETED_ACTION) . ' = 0';
+   $this->mConds[] = $db->bitAnd('log_deleted',
LogPage::DELETED_ACTION) . ' = 0';
} else if( !$wgUser->isAllowed( 'suppressrevision' ) )

In theory this should work fine, at least for favicon. Originally favicon
didn't have a link tag at all, it was hardcoded to /favicon.ico. So all
browsers should support retrieving it from that location if there's no link
tag.

Sometimes people may click the [mark as patrolled] link accidentally, they may
patrol the page they don't want to. But most of the actions in MediaWiki can be
undone, except this. So could we build up a undo method for "markpatrolled"
action?

Apple specifies (above) that the sitewide icon be put in the root folder; the
 is only intended as a page-specific override.

Protected documents don't have edit links in subsections, which is
understandable since they are not editable, BUT I think there should be "view
source" links in subsections instead.

I came across this problem translating the page
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ant : I copy each subsection to the target
document before translation, and currently I have to click the general "view
source" link and find the subsection inside this huge document. It would be of
great help to have "view source" links next to each subsection.
