[Bug 20590] New: Special:AllMessages not showing the latest version available
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20590 Summary: Special:AllMessages not showing the latest version available Product: MediaWiki Version: unspecified Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: Normal Component: Special pages AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: huji.h...@gmail.com I couldn't find a better place to put this bug, so move it if needed. Go to Persian Wikipedia, on this page: http://fa.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Version?uselang=en You see that it is using r55629. Now check this page: http://svn.wikimedia.org/viewvc/mediawiki/trunk/extensions/AbuseFilter/AbuseFilter.i18n.php?revision=55611view=markup It is the AbuseFilter internationalization file; it's version is 55611, so Persian Wikipedia should be using this file (it is the latest version of AbuseFilter.i18n.php before r55629). Find the part starting with $messages['fa'] = array( without quotes. You see, there ARE some Persian translations. So Persian Wikipedia should be able to show some Persian messages for AbuseFilter. Now go to this page: http://fa.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:AllMessages Find the message abusefilter (sixth from the top). You can see that there is a custom translation in use. But here is the bug: the default value is shown as Abuse filter configuration. However, we expected the default value to be in Persian (coming from AbuseFilter.i18n.php as mentioned above). In brief: Special:AllMessages seems not be able to show the correct default value. This happens selectively; messages pertaining AbuseFilter extension suffer from this, but messages for Antispoof extension show the correct (Persian) default value (for example, find antispoof-unassigned on http://fa.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:AllMessages and see that the default and the custom value are both in Persian). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 20591] New: Different move messages for $wgFixDoubleRedirects enables/disabled
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20591 Summary: Different move messages for $wgFixDoubleRedirects enables/disabled Product: MediaWiki Version: 1.16-svn Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: Normal Component: User interface AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: gti...@gmail.com The default text for the message 'movepagetext' says You can update redirects that point to the original title automatically. This is not true on a default MediaWiki installation, as it requires $wgFixDoubleRedirects to be enabled. On the other hand, writing You might or might not be able to automatically update redirects, depending on site configuration is not very helpful. There should be different messages depending on whether automatic redirect fixing is enabled - the best would be if 'movepagetext' would include another message as a parameter, and which message to include would depend on $wgFixDoubleRedirects. 'movepage-moved' should probably also be split in a similar way; while it doesn't include anything about double redirects by default, it seems that larger wikis found it the best place to include such warnings (see Movepage-moved and m:Movepage-moved). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. This would save a lot of repetitive tasks such as retagging talk pages, and also a lot of information relevant to teh article and its history is contained on the talk page. [Bug 20595] New: Rate limiter blocks never expires when not using memcached
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20595 Summary: Rate limiter blocks never expires when not using memcached Product: MediaWiki Version: 1.16-svn Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: major Priority: Normal Component: Blocking AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: b...@juliano.info Setting, for example: $wgRateLimits['edit']['ip'] = array( 10, 600 ); Anonymous users are blocked after 10 hits, but the block never expires, even hours and hours later. This only happens when using any memory cache other than memcached (for example: eAccelerator, Turck MMCache, etc.). Memcached presents the correct expected behavior. The problem seems to be in the implementation of incr() in BagOStuff class. The increment operation is implemented as: if( ( $n = $this-get( $key ) ) !== false ) { $n += $value; $this-set( $key, $n ); // exptime? } Note that when the new value is set, no expire time is passed, and this makes the new replaced key to last forever in the cache. Whoever implemented it already noticed this case and left that comment in the code (it should have also noted that it is a bug). Also, related: In User::pingLimiter(), the limiter is implemented as: if( $count ) { /* ...code to check the limit... */ } else { wfDebug( __METHOD__.: adding record for $key $summary\n ); $wgMemc-add( $key, 1, intval( $period ) ); } $wgMemc-incr( $key ); The key is added with the correct expire time, but right after that it is incremented using incr(), which kills the expire time. In fact, in this code, if $count==0, the user starts with 2 hits instead of one (another bug). Probably the incr() call should be inside the 'if' clause. What would be the correct fix for this bug? I think of two possibilities: 1. Modify BagOStuff to store an aggregate like `array( $value, $exptime )` in order to be able to have access to the original exptime and properly reset it when incrementing/decrementing the value; 2. Or deprecate incr() and decr(), consider that they can't be reliably implemented out of memcached and reformat User::pingLimiter() in order to do its own expiry control, independent of the cache TTL? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. Now we've got 3 Mediawiki components and 3 Wikimedia components and I'm trying to figure out the workflow in between them. Are we expecting users to submit under the new products and we (ie: devs, bugzilla regulars, etc) will recategorize them into their appropriate areas (ie: Mediawiki - enhancement)? I think it's a needless step in the process and creates more work for us with marginal benefit to the end-user. Two things I think can fix this: A) Change the Enter a new bug text to say Enter a new bug or feature request B) Change the landing page from there to be more intuitive, maybe providing pre-filled links like Mediawiki Feature Request or Mediawiki Bug with the appropriate severity already set. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

[Bug 20608] New: has improper value for fails for text properties
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20608 Summary: has improper value for fails for text properties Product: MediaWiki extensions Version: any Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: major Priority: Normal Component: Semantic MediaWiki AssignedTo: mar...@semantic-mediawiki.org ReportedBy: jmccl...@hypergrove.com The nowikihas improper value for/nowiki property doesnt work well for properties that are typed as Text. Because it fails, the value is not recorded for the property. type:Text should differ from type:String primarily (only?) by allowing CRLFs embedded within values of that type. Currently, there appears no difference between values allowed for the two properties. Furthermore, HTML markup should be allowed for at least type:Text property values if not ualso/u for type:String values. Again, because it is deemed an improper value, no value can be retrieved for the property. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

[Bug 20611] New: (hide/unhide) link is missing from deleted revisions of a page
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20611 Summary: (hide/unhide) link is missing from deleted revisions of a page Product: MediaWiki Version: unspecified Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: Normal Component: Revision deletion AssignedTo: jschulz_4...@msn.com ReportedBy: ft2.w...@gmail.com A page with multiple revisions is deleted. The deleted revisions are listed at Special:Undelete/PAGENAME and all have a (show/hide) link next to them. Clicking on a DIFF link shows a show/hide link for the revisions in the diff. But when a revision link is clicked to view a deleted revision (rather than a deleted diff link) the page presented lacks a show/hide link both in markup view and when the preview button is clicked. This is more conspicuous for the first deleted revision on a page, because that one doesn't have a diff link, only a page revision link. REQUESTED FIX: deleted page revisions to have a show/hide link added, both in markup view and preview. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l
