It has been determined that the Simple Wikibooks project will be closed. The
content can be exported to English Wikibooks. Mike.lifeguard says that JeLuF
knows the name of the script necessary. It would be good to create a Simple:
namespace beforehand and import the mainspace content to that namespace in
order to avoid conflicts and permit the content to continue as a subproject of
English Wikibooks. This will automate what Special:Import can already do by
hand.

[Bug 22108] New: Restricting OpenID using $wgOpenIDConsumerAllow can be bypassed

2010-01-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22108

   Summary: Restricting OpenID using $wgOpenIDConsumerAllow can be
bypassed
   Product: MediaWiki extensions
   Version: any
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: critical
  Priority: Normal
 Component: OpenID
AssignedTo: sergey.chernys...@gmail.com
ReportedBy: craig@gmail.com

Picture this situation:

LocalSettings.php:

# Deny all OpenIDs except the ones we allow:
$wgOpenIDConsumerDenyByDefault = true;
$wgOpenIDConsumerAllow = array("@^(http://)?mydomain.com@");

Someone enters in http://mydomain.com/ - validation passes - all is good.

Then, then take the URL that their browser is redirected to (I used Firefox's
Live HTTP Headers plugin to see this), copy the OpenID parameters off it, and
then suffix them onto a server which they have an account on (say,
https://login.launchpad.net/+openid).

Voila, I am logged into this supposedly-restricted wiki with an OpenID that
fails the consumer allow test.

Two things come to mind here:

  - Aren't OpenID requests meant to be signed, so they can't be tampered with
in this way?
  - You should validate after the OpenID is returned, not (just) before.

For example, I have solved this by adding to SpecialOpenIDFinish.body.php

 case Auth_OpenID_SUCCESS:
// This means the authentication succeeded.
$openid = $response->getDisplayIdentifier();
// Check we have been given an identifier we
accept.
if (!$this->canLogin($openid_url)) {

$wgOut->showErrorPage('openidpermission', 'openidpermissiontext');
return;
}

However, I don't think this will stop a OP that is prepared to issue an ID in
any name - only signing will fix that.

2010-01-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon

--- Comment #1 from Craig Box   2010-01-15 16:53:23 UTC ---
Andrew Arnott from DotNetOpenAuth has explained the situation to me here.

In summary, the RP library should stop the "ID issued in any name" case, by
signature verification, so the only thing we need to do is check that the
assertion is acceptable with the code above.

However, we shouldn't be checking the display identifier, which can be set to
whatever you want - we should be checking the identity_url. See
http://openidenabled.com/files/php-openid/docs/2.1.3/OpenID/Auth_OpenID_ConsumerResponse.html.

Patch forthcoming...

[Bug 22111] New: Defining a template within a page

2010-01-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22111

   Summary: Defining a template within a page
   Product: MediaWiki
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: Normal
 Component: Templates
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: jpmcgr...@jpmcgrath.net

I would like a way to define a template (or something equivalent), for use on a
single page, within that page. There are times when it makes sense to define a
template that will only be used on one page, for example a "row template" for a
single use table. Creating a separate template has a few disadvantages:

* When trying to examine the WikiMarkup, you have to open multiple pages to see
what is going on.

* Testing the template requires saving the template every time you make a
change. You cannot just use the preview feature to see how things will be
formatted.

* The history of the main page and the template are separate, so retrieving old
versions can result in mismatches.

I would like instead to do something like this:

#defineTemplate row
|-
| style="font-weight: bold; text-align: left" | {{{name}}}
| style="text-align: right" | {{{age}}}
| style="background-color: #DDD; text-align: right" | {{{salary}}}
#endTemplate

{|
{{row | name="Sally" | age="25" | salary="$50,000" }}
{{row | name="Dick" | age="30" | salary="$75,000" }}
{{row | name="Jane" | age="35" | salary="$100,000" }}
|}

IE6 doesn't support it.

IE7 and 8 draws the scrollbars INSIDE the contentbox (as the only browser, but
per the HTML specification). So unless we know of a way to either make the
contentbox for IE large enough to fit the scrollbar and have the content
readable, this is indeed a tough one.

[Bug 13172] EXIF handling ignores tags with Count >= 1 (such as GPS coordinates)

Created an attachment (id=6960)
 --> (https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/attachment.cgi?id=6960)
Patch to Exif.php to fix this for GPS coordinates only

Since doing this the proper way (as in Brent's patch) and solving it for all
array-valued tags apparently is not possible (if metadata format is changed,
that may always break older installations since the formatter doesn't check the
version), let's at least fix this for the GPS coordinates.

This patch solves this bug for the GPS coordinates only without any change to
the metadata format and leaving Exif::version() at 1. It simply re-encodes a
GPS coordinate given as "degrees-minutes-seconds.fraction" as a single value
"degrees.fraction". Other fields that should be arrays are not corrected.

Also fixes formatting for GPSAltitudeRef and GPSDestDistanceRef as Ilmari did
in r49677.

This fixes the problem with the GPS coordinates for all new uploads. For
already uploaded (and also deleted?) images, Ilmari's suggestion seems a good
one.

The query

SELECT * FROM /*$wgDBprefix*/image
WHERE img_metadata LIKE '%GPSLatitudeRef%'
AND img_metadata NOT LIKE '%GPSLatitude%'

should find all entries in the image table that do have a problem with GPS
coordinates. For these files the metadata would need to be re-computed,
possibly by a batch job.

--- Comment #6 from Bawolff   2010-01-15 23:24:48 UTC ---
Well the obvious solution is to give a style rule in IEFixes
pre { padding-bottom: 2em}

(Currently padding is 1em, which is pretty big, and probably almost enough to
hold the scroll bar. Perhaps it should be in pixels/absolute units, as i don't
think scroll bars vary with font size).

This is a wiki me and my friend just started. She has access to the files and

=(

The naviagtion bar is still there, but no matter what you click on it says:
Database error
A database query syntax error has occurred. This may indicate a bug in the
software. The last attempted database query was:

from within function "MediaWikiBagOStuff::_doinsert/single-row". MySQL returned
error "11: database disk image is malformed".

Is it a bug??

[Bug 22114] New: Remove non-enhanced Recent changes, only keep the JavaScript enhanced version

2010-01-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon

JavaScript enhanced version

Status: NEW

ReportedBy: 326...@gmail.com

Currently there is a preference where one can choose to see enhanced recent
changes (RC), which requires JavaScript.
My proposal is to remove that preference, in favor of always using the
JavaScript enhanced version.

The reason is that even if you *don't* have JavaScript enabled the enhanced
version is more useful, and it doesn't seem broken at all. Also, a majority of
the users do have JavaScript enabled.

It may be that some people find the non-enhanced RC more useful, and maybe I'm
a little quick in asking to remove the option. In any case I think the default
should be enhanced RC.

Conrad Irwin  changed:

 Resolution||WONTFIX

--- Comment #1 from Conrad Irwin   2010-01-16 02:22:34

Both removing features and changing preferences are surefire way to annoy the
vocal minority; if there was data to suggest that a large majority of users do
indeed prefer and work better with this option then maybe changing the default
could be considered. It would be interesting to see the results of a usability
study (or failing that a poll on a big Wikipedia).

I think removing the setting entirely would cause pointless anxiety, there is
at least one patrolling script that (admittedly hackily) requires the user to
have the enhanced recent changes disabled; (and anyway, I prefer being able to
see all the edit summaries and a user's actions in the right order :D).

I've closed this as WONTFIX for now, but if there is data to suggest that it
really does improve the experience of most people, it would be prudent to
reopen it.

[Bug 22106] Transfer of Simple Wikibooks mainspace content to English Wikibooks

Actually, there is no real need for a new namespace. There is only one name
clash with Simple English Wikibooks content in the Transwiki namespace: a
redirect to a book that is nearly identical to the one at Simple. The two are
so similar that we'll either merge the two or delete the lesser one.

See ongoing discussion at [[b:Wikibooks talk:Simple English merger]].
