I found this issue in chinese wikipedia, while adding a link to a section whose
title contains full-width space (" "). The result encoding of full-width space
should be ".E3.80.80" , but now it is a underline ("_").

btw, why do you replace % by . ? it makes the url confusing.

Similar to the other options in the current CU interface, it would be good to
have an option to list all User Agents for a User or IP that was used in the
past 90 days. This will save some time and help the checkusers to perform
better better.

At times, we end up checking thru many shared IPs a user had used to find a
different UA that can connect the two ids in question. It is possible that at a
weak moment, we may fail to see the connection as we did not see both sharing
that unique UA.

User pages aren't the same as users. Users are always stored with an initial
capital letter. There might be some really old names on the English Wikipedia
that start with a lowercase letter, but everything in the CentralAuth DB should
be fine.

That's correct. I don't know whether usernames with a lowercase initial letter
are stored as such in the CentralAuth db... it might be a legitimate request to
normalize usernames in that case - otherwise not.

AssignedTo: philip@gmail.com
ReportedBy: philip@gmail.com

Created an attachment (id=7571)
 --> (https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/attachment.cgi?id=7571)
a initial patch

I have reprogramed the core algorithm of Language Converter just now. The
conversion core used an algorithm named "forwards maximum match algorithm"
which was implemented in PHP by a function strtr(). The original strtr (in the
C source, it's php_strtr_array) is slow because it simply finds out maxlen and
minlen of all keys, then test the text to be converted from top to bottom, from
long to short without any distinction.

I improved this algorithm. Fisrt I create a "quick table" to store the first
char of a key and all possible length of the key. The quick table can be
cached. Then I can simply check the quick table with the first char of the
remain text, and just need to test all possible length of such first char. As a
result, the performance improved.

Here I submit a initial patch for further testing.

Yes, Wikipedia-DE-BY would be an even better name.
There actually was a Munich Wikipedia mailing list by Wikimedia Deutschland,

$j(function(){
 $j('#searchform').bind('keyup keydown mousedown',
   function (e){ $j(this).attr('target', e.shiftKey?'_blank':'')})

Works perfectly in major browsers, also works with shift-click on suggestion

seems very useful.

Closing as WORKSFORME, unless somebody is willing to add this feature to

He was just teasing -- that's really not the only reason for a list.

I don't see what's wrong with creating this list if they say they're going to
use it... we have lots of similar lists, like Wikimedia-SF, WikimediaPA-l,
Wikimedia_NYC (pretty sure that was there before there was a chapter, but not
sure), Wikimedia-DC. It might be better to name it Wikimedia-DE-BY or
something instead, though, to fit in with the naming scheme.

hi TheDJ,

1. It will be fixed very shortly in the next release of Skype.
2. All versions from 4.1 to 4.2 have it

4. No, I don't think there is a way for you to fix it on your end. Again, my

There is no drop-down box (Firebug shows that div.suggestions has
"right:lots_of px", moving it off the screen). If you use up and down arrows
suggested words appear in the input field.

This is on Wikimedia in Opera 10.60 and FireFox 3.6.6 with Vector skin and
checked "Enable enhanced search suggestions (Vector skin only)" in preferences.

So this option does return old Go/Search buttons but breaks mwsuggest.

[Bug 24402] New: Bigger fonts for FireFox

2010-07-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24402

   Summary: Bigger fonts for FireFox
   Product: MediaWiki
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: Normal
 Component: Vector Skin
AssignedTo: tpars...@wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: m...@gmx.org

...or the two stolen pixels.

With the vector-skin it's hard to setup bigger fonts for text body . Even with
18px one get's only 14px (rounded). And my convinient setting was 17px
resulting in 16px font size on MonoBook. The Table below lists the scaling
result depending on settings.

127%*x-small = MonoBook
0.8*medium = Vector

medium°| x-small | 127%*x-small | 0.8*medium
12px | 9px | 11.43px| 9.6px
13px | 10px | 12.7px| 10.4px
14px | 10px | 12.7px| 11.2px
15px | 10px | 12.7px| 12px
16px | 10px | 12.7px| 12.8px(default setting)
17px | 12.75px | 16.1925px | 13.6px (=14px)
18px | 13.5px | 17.145px| 14.4px (=14px!)

°medium = browser setting

Since target size is 13px it would lead to more comfortable configuration
options when setting scaling factor to 13/16 = 0,8125.

medium | (0.8125*medium)
12px | 9.75px
13px | 10.5625px
14px | 11.375px
15px | 12.1875px
16px | 13px
17px | 13.8125px (=14px)
18px | 14.625px (=15px)

By the way google search uses small for scaling textbody, which gives best
results in upscaling fonts, also it's less predictable what exactliy is
happening.

Should affect opera, chrome and safari as well, but on IE there is no way in
setting font size directly by numbers.

I think that the q tag (http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_q.asp) is a valid tag
to be used by wikis if they want to use proper HTML to display their quotes,
i.e. we also support the similar tag. Since there seems no way of
inserting malicious content better than the other available tags, I think we
should give the wikis the option to use this tag. I recognize it's not
supported in Internet Explorer, but it's the wikis' own decision if they want
to use it or not.

This format (page titles in document root) is flawed for the exact reason that
it causes bugs like these. Don't use it, use something like Wikipedia's URL

I found out that the suggestions are not working due to the rewrite rules.

I think that we should update the guide for this:
