For whatever reason, the back button on the browser doesn't work, and you've lost all your work. This can be approached as a workflow problem. As a user is not permitted to commit edits, he never should have been allowed to imagine he were. One solution is to presented the user the log-in page the second he clicked "edit". Then this problem would have been avoided. But that's not the best solution. If this were applied as a general rule to all wiki pages, it would make it impossible to see something neat on a wiki page and then "edit" it in order to understand the code, even if it's impossible to commit. So the ideal workflow would be to be presented with an edit page if logged in, or a static view of the wiki code if not. Or perhaps if not logged-in to be presented with a wiki page that only has the "preview" button, not the "submit" button. In any case, the idea is that an unauthorized user not be allowed to try to submit to a site when it's clear he can't. This seems like an easy feature to add (as a first step see if the user is authorized to commit edits before drawing the submit button), and would add another layer to prevent loss of data. P.S. The definition of the Render function has changed since 1.9.0+
To make it compatible with 1.16 (but no more 1.9.0+), I have modified
UserImages.php in my environment but a cleaner solution should take into
account the version of MediaWiki to provide the right definition of
efUserImagesRender().

The language parser we have does have the ability to do this substitution, so

However, developers have repeatedly stated that StringFunctions is not going to happen (bug 6455), which leaves only the option of enabling some actual programming language. I suspect there is a network or system issue on your end since you see the exact same problem with every browser. UploadWizard does not use Flash, so that's not it. Solution (?) check dates for sanity before prefilling. This needs to be handled in the file/media/parser code in a defined way before we can implement this in the API. Consider a field that lets a user set a value based on category Wiki Page:
{{{field|Homepage|autocomplete on category=Wiki Page}}}
Today, this field specification will allow the user to save a value that does
not exist. I propose that the field be defined so that the final value is
limited to existing values. For example,
{{{field|Homepage|autocomplete on category=Wiki Page|mustexist}}}
The user could still type in a non-existing page, since it's a combobox.
Existence is verified after the user hits "Save page". If the value does not
exist within the specified set (category=Wiki Page above), an error message
displays and the form stays open. This behavior would match that of a
mandatory string field that is empty on "Save page".

It just so happens that mw.iFrameTransport.js line 94 uses a temporary variable
called json without declaring it, which results in it leaking into the global
scope. This is bad style, but allowed me to get the server's response:

After reviewing the evidence presented, the chairs concluded that longdesc has few good uses and is poorly implemented in practice, so it should not be made conforming again: http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html/2010Aug/att-0112/issue-30-decision.html We intend to output valid HTML5 moving forward, so we should not support this unless there's a good reason. In reality, given the state of UA support for longdesc, there is no good reason, so I'm marking WONTFIX. If you have specific examples of assistive technology that would benefit significantly from longdesc use in some cases, please present that evidence and reopen the bug. Note that I'm *not* asking for hypotheticals here, I'm asking for a situation in which a significant number of disabled users will *demonstrably* (not just conceivably) benefit from longdesc use. Perhaps this could be used by the Drafts extension however ?
