Really wished this feature existed. A good way around its usage is explained at
comment #23 and comment #24.

Any clue on what is the current status?

Still waiting on Bug 9890. My (probably superficial) understanding is that
Peter made some excellent progress during GSOC, but the interwiki transclussion
code is still not quite ready to be flipped on at commons.

No, the request is (AFAICT) to compare the data contained within two infoboxes'
fields, as opposed to comparing the raw wikitext (where parameters might be in
a different order or have other inconsistencies).

I'm 99% sure that this can be achieved with Semantic MediaWiki, in which case
this is either a WORKSFORME or a dupe of bug 8390.

[Bug 26533] New: Collection extension shoud expand templates of a colection page before loading the collection

2011-01-01 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26533

 Summary: Collection extension shoud expand templates of a

ves/2010/May#The_extension_is_not_parsing_templates
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
 Severity: normal
 Priority: Normal
Component: Collection
AssignedTo: supp...@pediapress.com
ReportedBy: mybugs.m...@gmail.com

As mentioned on
Help:Books/Feedback/Archives/2010/May#The_extension_is_not_parsing_templates,
the extension is not expanding templates before loading a collection.

Currently, in the function loadCollection[1] we have a loop for parsing each
line of the collection, but it uses the value of $article->getContent() in the
following loop

foreach ( preg_split( '/[\r\n]+/', $article->getContent() ) as $line ) {

Instead of that, it should be used the preprocessed text, such as that which
appears on Special:ExpandTemplates. The code of this ExpandTemplates
extension uses

$output = $wgParser->preprocess( $input, $title, $options );

to get the expanded content in the special page. I believe the same function
can be used for Collection extension.

You have to unset a message key, when the key is in the $compare_messages
(because it is in the default Message*.php or the cache from previous updates),
but not in $base_messages (because the key was removed from svn). With an unset
of the message key the fallback of MediaWiki should work.

CC||krinklem...@gmail.com

--- Comment #38 from Krinkle 2011-01-01 19:55:00 UTC ---
So I understand that central langlinks and central templates will no longer be
seperate systems but both use the same.

I think that's great since this way more can be transcluded in the bottom of
the article.
For example:
* fa (Featured article)
* commonscat (Category on Commons with images about this subject)
* wiktionary (Page on Wiktionary with grammar, definitions, translations
about this subject)

Ofcourse these templates may not exist on all projects, but that's exactly
where the other usecase of this system comes in, they can exist in the central
place as well.

A few important questions imho though
* Is this going to be on Commons ?
* Although both will use the same system, if not on Commons. Will central
templates and langlinks be stored on the same wiki ?
* Will it fallback to Commons, like with images ? (ie fa will transclude
local Template:Fa and otherwise Commons' copy of fa, and using
will always use Commons's version). Or should there be
no such fallback (why not?) and must there be a iw-prefix ?
* Should we disallow transclusion from other projects and only from one ? if
not, why ?
* Should we disallow transclusion from non-Template namespaces ? If not, why ?

Just for the record, other examples of great localized templates on Commons:
* Information
* Licenses
* more..

You can place the following on any WMF wiki page (be in Wikipedia, Meta or
Commons)

mw:Test

and it will work, today.

However it wont work via the URL address or in chains like
meta:w:de:mw:Test (which is quite useless since there is only 1 "mw", no
need for chaining).

There's a bug already under id bug 22407 which requests to make "mw" a local iw
prefix, so that's it's chainable and usable in the url (like
meta:w:de:mw:Test).

Would also be nice so that mw:foo works from bugzilla...

As an aside, the local interwikis in the default install (which might be
different from wikimedia) are kind of weird:

+--+--+
| iw_prefix| iw_local |
+--+--+
| hewikisource |1 |
| mediazilla |1 |
| wikibooks|1 |
| wikinews |1 |
| wikipedia|1 |
| wikiquote|1 |
| wikisource |1 |
| wikispecies |1 |
| wikiversity |1 |
| wikt |1 |
| wiktionary |1 |
+--+--+

but things like mw, mediawikiwiki, commons, and metawiki are included in the
default install, but not set as local interwikis.

I think this should be available as config option for the $wgForeignFileRepos
array. We should still allow people to create the local page by handcrafting a
url, but no need to have the edit link link to the local page.

[Bug 25437] Increase release notes range

--- Comment #7 from Aryeh Gregor 2011-01-02
00:03:01 UTC ---
When pasting these things in the future, use \G instead of ; as statement
terminator, so that the result is more legible. E.g.,

DESCRIBE SELECT cr_message,cr_author,cr_id,ct_tag AS rnotes FROM
`mw_code_rev` LEFT JOIN `mw_code_tags` ON ((ct_repo_id = cr_repo_id AND
ct_rev_id = cr_id AND ct_tag = "release-notes")) WHERE cr_repo_id = '3' AND
(cr_status NOT IN('reverted','deferred','fixme')) AND (cr_message != ) AND
(cr_id BETWEEN 77000 AND 78000 AND (cr_path LIKE '/trunk/phase3/%' OR cr_path
= '/trunk/phase3')) ORDER BY cr_id DESC \G

The ";" format tends to break horribly when you paste long rows into Bugzilla,
which inserts line breaks.

InnoDB tables should always have an explicit primary key. Otherwise (if there
are no unique indexes) it will make a secret invisible primary key anyway,
which you can't observe or control. Best to add an autoincrement primary key
if there are no possible unique keys as-is.

[Bug 26369] Cropped PDFs thumbnail broken

2011-01-01 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26369

--- Comment #3 from Smallman 2011-01-02 00:50:03
UTC ---
PDF cropping is the only "lossless" way. Converting to SVG isn't reliable and
exporting as image loses the vector data.

[Bug 26537] New: ED constantly refreshes on the download page in Opera

2011-01-01 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26537

 Summary: ED constantly refreshes on the download page in Opera
 Product: MediaWiki extensions
 Version: any
 Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
 Severity: enhancement
 Priority: Normal
Component: ExtensionDistributor
AssignedTo: tstarl...@wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: p858sn...@gmail.com
CC: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org

>From the documentation talk page:
The Problem: The auto-start download in the ExtensionDistributor makes the
Opera web-browser reload the page after 5 seconds, instead of auto-starting the
download.
Version: Opera v10.10 stable-built:1893 Windows7 --FarwayK 14:09, 24 January
2010 (UTC) BTW I've never experienced this problem anywhere before.

This problem still exists and this ExtensionDistributor is still the only place
where this happens.
It makes downloading extensions manually almost impossible with Opera. The
refresh sends you to http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Special:ExtensionDistributor
thereby losing the chosen extension and version data.
The only way to stop this is hitting the stop button immediately when the page
starts refreshing, before the current page turns blank.
Current Version: Opera v11.00 stable-build:1156 --FarwayK 19:05, 30 December
2010 (UTC)

[Bug 26538] New: Login limit

2011-01-01 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26538

 Summary: Login limit
 Product: MediaWiki
 Version: wikimedia-deployment
 Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
 Severity: enhancement
 Priority: Normal
Component: API
AssignedTo: roan.katt...@gmail.com
ReportedBy: m8r-udf...@mailinator.com
CC: bryan.tongm...@gmail.com, s...@reedyboy.net,
vasi...@gmail.com, soxre...@gmail.com

For the API Login, it would be nice if there was a modifiable session time
limit.

For example, a parameter lgsessionlimit=300

would mean that the sessionid would be valid for only 700 minutes (seconds
would be silly).

This would be primarily a security enhancement and make session hijacking more
difficult if a bot op forgot (or couldn't) logout.

[Bug 26498] allow LinksUpdate with API

2011-01-01 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26498

--- Comment #12 from Reedy 2011-01-02 03:34:37 UTC ---
In EditPage

if ( $wgUser->pingLimiter() ) {
wfProfileOut( __METHOD__ . '-checks' );
wfProfileOut( __METHOD__ );
return self::AS_RATE_LIMITED;
}

Is it just doing the pingLimiter check whilst doing the linkupdate? Will the
link update actually affect any of the counters that are doing this, or is
adding it not going to be of much use...?

[Bug 26539] New: lqt.pg.sql doesn't match current db schema.

2011-01-01 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26539

 Summary: lqt.pg.sql doesn't match current db schema.
 Product: MediaWiki extensions
 Version: any
 Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
 Keywords: patch, postgresql
 Severity: major
 Priority: Normal
Component: LiquidThreads
AssignedTo: agarr...@wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: balr...@gmail.com
CC: bhar...@wikimedia.org

Created attachment 7952
 --> https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/attachment.cgi?id=7952
This makes it work for me (based on lqt.sql changes) and adds a lqt-drop.sql
script for easy dropping of all the created tables and sequences.

The SQL script for creating the tables for pgsql seems outdated causing sql
errors when loading a discussion page because of a missing column, bad column
constraints and incorrect sequence names.

[Bug 26527] image replaced by link in stable version of article

2011-01-01 Thread bugzilla-daemon

--- Comment #3 from Aaron Schulz 2011-01-02 05:43:06 UTC

The stable version uses the file version used at time of review. AFAIK, that
version was a local file on dewiki that was deleted (and a copy was re-uploaded
on Commons). This is why it's blue linked.
