[Bug 27131] Add checkbox to Special:PrefixIndex to hide the given prefix in the list items

An interesting usecase would be the ability to trigger it when transcluding
(but I'm not sure how to go about doing that, since
the normal way of passing parameters via subpages is already in use)

Giving a specific permission to a group that also has the 'protect' right
automatically gives them the ability to protect the page to that level, with no
way of changing that. However, with 'editprotected', having the 'protect' right
doesn't help unless you specifically have the right for one or more levels.
What I was trying to do was give (in this example) 'mygroup' rights to edit all
pages except 'mylevel', but only be able to 'protect' pages to
'someotherlevel'.

 ||creator's list

--- Comment #2 from Bawolff 2011-02-05 02:36:16 UTC ---
First off, yay! people are testing things from my branch!

Just to clarify, is this from the debug output, or are you seeing this as an
error message. In the case of invalid XMP metadata, it is supposed to dump a
whole bunch of stuff to the debug output, but show no error message to the
user, and generally behave as if there was no metadata for the file. The
ordinary user should not be able to see that message.

On to the actual issue. It rejects the file, because the xmp data actually is
invalid. According to the standard (
http://www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/xmp/pdfs/XMPSpecificationPart1.pdf
), the list of creators must be an ordered list (with primary/most important
author first).

However, this isn't the first file I've heard of that incorrectly uses an
unordered list for creators. Presumably there's a broken xmp encoder somewhere.
It might be a good idea to be lax on the ordered vs unordered distinction
instead of just rejecting the metadata.

Hi!

Per request made on Portuguese Wikibooks (see URL [1]), please increase
temporarily the value of $wgAccountCreationThrottle during 2 weeks, from
February 14 to February 25.

This will be needed in order to continue the work on book b:pt:LogĂstica,
which started last year[2]. The students will create the accounts during the
first classes, under supervision of it's teacher, which will be coordinating
that collaborative project during this semester.

There was a similar request on Bug 21510, where you can find the lines of code
previously used to implement something like this.

PS: Platonides, could you please check the code below to see if I've adapted it
correctly?

if ( $wgDBname == 'ptwikibooks' ) {
# Account creation throttle disabled for "LogĂstica 2011" project from

So I went through the "Select a custom Creative Commons license" selector to

Also it forgot which extensions I selected to have enabled so I had to

I believe this is meant to be for the inline references in comments and the
follow-ups lists, where current there is no check for status and no special
formatting.

Should be pretty straightforward to do: pull the record when making the link,
and add a css class. This should be abstracted and used consistently for the
inline r and for the generation of paging links and follow-ups.

[It would be SUPER cool if we could find a way to tie this in for bugzilla as
well, but that'd be a separate bug. Would need a way to query the wiki cleanly
from the BZ side, maybe over API.]

User::sendConfirmationMail() fills this out; it's currently disabling timezone
adjustment on the output.

Should double-check if $wgUser is always correct here (what about when an
existing logged-in user creates someone else's account?) -- if it's safe, then
can just pass true to let the user/default settings be used. Otherwise, need to
pull the setting from the user and pass it in direct as fourth parameter to
timeanddate() etc.

Let's go with "fixed" once "darkcyan" is removed. The description text can go
in a CSS comment next to the hex code for clarification.

The warnings can safely be ignored.

[Bug 27169] New: All namespaces should be handled by InlineEditor

2011-02-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27169

Summary: All namespaces should be handled by InlineEditor
 Product: MediaWiki extensions
 Version: any
 Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
 Severity: normal
 Priority: Normal
Component: InlineEditor
AssignedTo: jp.po...@gmail.com
ReportedBy: jp.po...@gmail.com

Right now it's possible to configure a set of namespaces for which to use the
traditional editor. It would be better to use InlineEditor, but to not match
anything, except for the surrounding div that selects all the text, which is
identical to the traditional editor in functionality.

One thing that has to be tested, is whether or not adding a surrounding div and
parsing it works in all cases. It could be that for this an exception has to be
made, to not include this div in the wikitext that is parsed, but to add it
afterwards. However, every hack like that is one too many, so it'd be better if
this wouldn't be necessary.

I'm guessing you've miss-read me. Note that "literatury" word is linked to but
in a different way and is changed differently:
* "literatury" is changed to "literatury" - and this is a
behavior that I expected
* in contrast "filmu" is changed to "film u"
* I'm guessing "filmu" would be changed to "filmu" now

Note that "filmu" is syntactically (per rendering) and semantically
the same as "filmu".

There should be options whether or not to use the editor, similar to the
options used by the Usability Initiative. That means that you can choose to
enable it globally or only for users, and whether or not it's enabled by
default for users. Users will have to navigate to their preferences to
(de)select this option.

Also, see bug 26918, where a clean interface for different editors is proposed.

Priyanka, could you make the CSS

height: 12px;

I tried it that way for my user.css in Konqueror since that is the height of
the search icon.

Why is bit in the CSS anyway? It isn't in the regular vector.css.

No, that's about being able to select an editing interface in the global or
user settings. What I'd like, is to be able to use the WikiEditor toolbar in
other places. So this is purely about the toolbar, not about the editing
interface.

For example, the toolbar could be used in my InlineEditor extension, or in
LiquidThreads, or in any other place where wikitext can be used.

Somehow, edit conflicts should be handled correctly in InlineEditor. I'm
thinking about doing diff3 with preference for "Theirs", then showing a popup
that this has happened, and allows the user to verify the page.

The changes can be highlighted by doing a diff.

The edit toolbar from the traditional edit page should be available when
editing using InlineEditor. Before this can be done, the editing toolbar should
be decoupled from the edit page, so a function should exist to apply it to an
arbitrary textarea, see bug 27164

Oops, hit return by accident.

The toolbar should be decoupled from the edit page to allow applying it to an
arbitrary textarea. This is required for extensions like InlineEditor.

The NOINDEX,NOFOLLOW bug should, maybe, be filed as a separate bug: The META

behaviour) or if you are logged in (= obviously a bug in FlaggedRevs). But
Googlebot doesn't seem to work under an account.

In InlineEditor, if there's a reference (Some text.) present in a
paragraph, then when previewing that paragraph, the reference list
() should be greyed out with a "Refresh" button (instead of
re-rendering the entire page). The problem is
that both the and tags can be inside a template, so
this has to be identified by the Cite extension. The Cite extension should
implement a hook in InlineEditor after parsing, to tell whether or not a
reference was present. Then it can also tell which class should be greyed out.

This can only be done when this functionality has been implemented in
InlineEditor, see bug 27162.

seeking to near the end of the file and grabbing it. It works, ok... but it is
gross.

However! Please clue me in if there are parallel bzip2 projects further along

Almost always you want Status::isGood() not Status::isOk(). Each use of those
functions needs to be checked in FileRepo, because I have found cases where I
believe isGood() is more appropriate than isOk(). In addition in some cases the
member variable $ok is accessed directly. This should be fixed to use one of

As of r62018, easy time line supports specifying alternate fonts in
LocalSettings.php. Changing to a shell request.

The relevant setting is something like:
$wgTimelineSettings->fontFile = "fontFile.ttf"

probably would also want to update:
$wgTimelineSettings->epochTimestamp = '20081209214953';
to something more recent (Currently specified as above in CommonSettins.php)

fontFile.ttf must be in the path specified by $GDFONTPATH environment variable.
(Which i believe for wikimedia is /usr/local/apache/common/fonts .)

As for which fontFile, presumably we already have at least one malayalam font
installed for the svg renders(?), but probably not in the right directory
needed for easyTimeline.

See also bug 20825

It might also be interesting idea to change the default font for all wikis to
be DejaVu Sans, since that supports significantly more characters than FreeSans
(the current default) afaik, however that might break pre-existing timelines on
enwikipedia if they depend on letters to be specific sizes. Should be done with
care in any case.

If we can replace the low-level perl script and Ploticus backend with code that

EasyTimeline hasn't gotten a lot of maintenance in the last few years, in part
perhaps because the perl script and the ploticus dependency make it harder for
MW devs to tweak.

Bringing the graphics generation "inside" also could enable fancier future
things, such as in-browser visual editing of timelines if it can be translated
into something manipulable on the web such as SVG.

The most proper place to add support for DNG would be the PagedTiffHandler, if
it is similar to TIFF.

If you press the "use on the web" button on commons now you get:

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Folgers.ogv?withJS=MediaWiki:MwEmbed.js&embedplayer=yes";
width="240" height="180" frameborder="0" >

This works in blogs like so:
http://wikimediavideotest.blogspot.com/

The format is explained in bug 25269 .. direct reference to the prototype urls
have been removed, and an updated extension will handle the 'embedplayer=yes'
parameter.

Depends on bug 26741; presumably the fix of that bug will be mimicking the
page/revision tables for image, resulting in a file_rev_id which would fix this
bug as well.

This generally indicates that the databases haven't been properly maintained
and there's a mismatch in data types between various tables.

Most likely an ops issue for prototype server?

Is this about dbzip2 or something else? There are several other projects that
do pretty much what dbzip2 did, and there should be some that are better
maintained and better-performing these days...

/me votes WONTFIX. That would also stop cache invalidation for pages in
general, which will cause people to get confused when they edit
LocalSettings.php and none of the settings changes seem to get applied.

This also doesn't have anything to do with your original bug, since the update
script doesn't touch LocalSettings.php.

Please note: Google startet a new algorithm some days ago, which should prevent
high ranking for link farms. The disappearance affects only articles which
exist in the english wikipedia with the same title. So "Angela Merkel" is not
found using german google, but the article of the english wikipedia is shown.
Words, which only exist in german (like "Ausweispflicht") are correctly found
by google. So I think, it's an error at google.

We've had reports that large numbers of pages have disappeared from
Google's index of the German Wikipedia. It's easy to verify that
popular pages like Angela Merkel have disappeared.

recipients may have a look

Please make the configs from prototype publicly available, similarly to the
