texvc is rebuild whenever we run 'scap', the last rebuild according to a random
apache file timestamp is:

 2011-03-01 02:44 /usr/local/bin/texvc

Which is after this bug opening, so I am assuming this issue FIXED :)

Notes:
1) I verified our production code and it does include the above bug fixes as
well as other ones.
2) A live test for \mathtt is available at

--- Comment #5 from Erwin Dokter  2011-03-06 13:07:23 UTC ---
Actually, I found out it's not a float bug; it's the default behaviour for list
markers. They are placed outside the flow (list-style-position: outside;).
Setting list-style-position to inside will put the markers inside the flow, but
that clashes with the design of having them outside. So it's basically a design
issue.

[Bug 27890] Create a way to throw Warnings and Errors with proper tracing

The reason this is more than a simple request to create those methods is two
things:
* For one, javascript doesnt' have anything like __FUNCTION__, __METHOD__,
__LINE__ etc. in a function arguments.callee.name can be useful in some cases,
but then again, we don't need the name of the function we're in (which would
either be the deprecated function itself or the log wrapper)
* Aside from the current function, the point is to trace where the current
funtion was called *from*

[Bug 27891] New: Cache setting on Wikipedia Chinese

Some user report that the cache have problem on zhwp.

They submit the edit. However, when the page load, it still show the old
version of the page. In the past, only IP will have this problem. But now, all
user have this problem. They need to use ?action=purge to fix it. If this does
not fix, some user may think the edit cannot be submit.

Is this a recent changes on the setting of Wikimedia Wikis or it is related to
the 1.17 upgrade? Also, see local discussion at

[Bug 27890] New: Create a way to throw Warnings and Errors with proper tracing

2011-03-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27890

   Summary: Create a way to throw Warnings and Errors with proper
tracing
   Product: MediaWiki
   Version: 1.18-svn
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: Normal
 Component: Resource Loader
AssignedTo: krinklem...@gmail.com
ReportedBy: krinklem...@gmail.com
CC: roan.katt...@gmail.com, tpars...@wikimedia.org

If a native javascript method fails (eg. calling a member as a function on a
non-object) there's an error thrown:

  TypeError: Result of expression 'f.test' [undefined] is not a function.
[test.js:2]

But when a custom error is thrown (ie. "MediaWiki DeprecatedWarning: Function
mw.legacy.sajax_init_object is deprecated" ) it will report no file/line number
to the console or in some cases the filename and line number where the throw
originates from, not where the function was called.

So the goal of this bug is to end up with something like:

-- short wrappers to avoid doing any throws directly in the code (would use or
do something like jQuery.error )
* mw.log (what it is now, simple dummy in production and console.log or
mw.console in debug for logging messages)
* mw.log.error and mw.log.warning for throwing stuff
* mw.log.deprecated calls mw.log.warning with some magic stuff to know what was
called and where it comes from

-- example of where it is defined
mw.legacy.sajax_init_object : function() {
 mw.log.deprecated();

 /* stuff */

}

-- example of where it would be triggered
function myGadget(){
  var path = '...';
  var xhttp = mw.legacy.sajax_init_object()
  /* etc. stuff */
  var foobar = getStuff();
  mw.util.addPortletLink( foobar );
}

-- example of console output
{X} MWDeprecatedWarning: Use of sajax_init_object is deprecated [mygadget.js:3]
{X} MWSyntaxError: addPortletLink requires at least 3 arguments, 2 given
[mygadget:49]

autopatrol does apply to both edits and page creations, but in the simplewiki
case RCPatrol is disabled, and only New Page patrol is enabled, so autopatrol
right only applies to new pages.

So just to clarify, you want a new user group that can be assigned and removed
by admins, and people in that usergroup should have patrol (mark other people's
new pages as ok) and autopatrol (your own new pages are automatically ok)
rights. Or did you mean you wanted two new usergroups, an autopatrol user
group, and a seperate patrol user group?

Yep, exactly what Gordonrox said above. There's no need for patrolling changes.
Only new creations (seen on Special:NewPages) are to be patrolled. The right
should be that people are autopatrolled (so their creations aren't yellow on
that page) and that they can actively help help patrolling those new pages.
Sorry if it wasn't clear enough said above.

patch to not update wl_timestamp on minor edits, if $wgEnotifMinorEdits =
false.

Hmm, looks like we could maybe just not update wl_timestamp on minor edits if
the wiki is globally configured not to send emails on minor edits. This would
probably cut back on the job queue usage significantly on such wikis.

Here's a patch that does that. I need to figure out how exactly wl_timestamp is
actually used before i'd feel confident committing though.

Also this wouldn't fix it for wikis that enable sending on minor edits, but
where the user disabled in prefs.

I committed that in r83374. Marking this fixed as that should fix the issue (at
least on my test wiki it does, using
[[:File:Puerto_Rico_ecosystems_map-fr.svg]])
