After some test I must be a bit more precise: Submitting the form on enter key is a Firefox/Internet Explorer specific behavior, Opera and Konqueror do nothing when the radio buttons have the focus and you press enter. Adding an explicit event handler for keydown (or keypress or keyup) for the radio buttons should solve this. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

[Bug 3665] Auto-detect interface language for anonymous users
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3665 dohnp...@gmail.com changed: What|Removed |Added Priority|Low |Normal --- Comment #22 from dohnp...@gmail.com 2011-05-21 09:18:26 UTC --- The switcher exists and its uselang is permanent at Commons, it is nice. Nonetheless I do not understand why couldn't Commons detect the browser default language and set the interface according to that for non-registered users as well, if the switcher hasn't been used. What's the problem? * Many users don't have set in their preferences in the browser – as far as I know, the default value is English there, so they will receive the Commons interface in English, the same way as now. * For users having it set, the interface would be in the preferred language. For nobody it would be worse, just better for one part of the users. [Bug 29065] New: Make Release status colours for MediaWiki extension info box disctint
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29065 Web browser: --- Bug #: 29065 Summary: Make Release status colours for MediaWiki extension info box disctint Product: MediaWiki Version: 1.19-svn Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: Unprioritized Component: General/Unknown AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: m...@tgries.de Classification: Unclassified Please can someone revert this change (*) https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/mediawiki/w/index.php?title=MediaWiki%3ACommon.cssaction=historysubmitdiff=404688oldid=404671 I suggested this change (done by Catrope) [A] https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/mediawiki/w/index.php?title=MediaWiki:Common.cssoldid=404641 which - in my view - got a good result. The colour selection of [B] https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/mediawiki/w/index.php?title=MediaWiki:Common.cssoldid=404688 is convincing and appropriate, as it made colours for status - experimental and - beta very similar. The rationale for the suggested change was: 1. I made the text Release status becoming a link to the comment section, so that everyone quickly can get further information what the release status means. This resulted in the text becoming a blue link, which was difficult to read on the (at those time) blue release status colour. In dicsussion with Catrope I dvelolped a new scheme, similar to traffic light: * https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/mediawiki/wiki/MediaWiki:Common.css * http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension_status : - experimental (red) I choose for: orangered - beta (yellow) I choose for i) fuchsia, or ii) gold, or iii) yellow - stable (green) I choose for limegreen - unstable (default = grey) - unknown (default = grey) The choice of i) fuchsia was not convincing, this is why Catrope turned to ii) gold. I suggest you propose a new scheme, if gold is not convincing you as colour. The current brownish orange is not very distinct from orangered, but gold was. This is why I suggest to revert (*), or please propose a better scheme and please check the consequence in respect to the other release status colour. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 29069] New: Default option for pressing Enter in search box on Wikimedia Commons
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29069 Web browser: --- Bug #: 29069 Summary: Default option for pressing Enter in search box on Wikimedia Commons Product: Wikimedia Version: unspecified Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: Unprioritized Component: Site requests AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: king.of.hearts.w...@gmail.com Classification: Unclassified See bug 17471. Basically, per consensus at http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Village_pump/Archive/2009/02#Default_our_search_box_to_.22Search.22_instead_of_.22Go.22 the system was modified so that hitting return on the keyboard uses the Search function rather than Go. This makes a lot of sense for an image database where you rarely know the particular name of something you're searching for. However, it is annoying when you do know the specific title of the image you want. For instance, if you type File:Wikipedia-logo.svg in the search bar, it takes you to http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3ASearchsearch=File%3AWikipedia-logo.svgfulltext=Search rather than http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Wikipedia-logo.svg. Clearly, in this instance your intention is to get to the file directly. If possible, I would like, when hitting Enter in a search box, for queries without a namespace to default to the Search option as it is now, and queries with a namespace to be reverted back to using the Go option. This was brought up in the subsection Comments of the linked discussion and received general support, but was brushed off to the side as less important than the main issue being discussed and never raised again until now. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. The script in the front-end to ajax-watch things was already rewritten for 1.17 to use the API instead. So the front-end should be trivial (adding a post/get parameter for the token). I've seen your changes now. One remark: I've also seen there is now base64 export added? I understand this is for the sake of backwards compatibility, but it's not very optimal. Maybe leave it as an option? I don't understand. The base64 is backwards compatible if you parse with an XML parser. Perhaps, but changing this may lead to unexpected breakage, which I don't feel inclined to search for. What for example? Or is it completely :) unexpected so you have no idea about it? I have absolutely no idea what would break, but I know MediaWiki well enough that something will break. I'll try to rebase the patch against the new trunk with your WIP. That's fine. Having beta and experimental closely matching colours isn't that bad, most people from other discussions we have had in the irc channel tend to guard them as close together if not the same but to the point having clashing colours like that isn't as bad as having colours as what one person described to me as eye gouging. [Bug 29074] New: DB table prefix problem when specifying DB in wfGetDB
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29074 Web browser: --- Bug #: 29074 Summary: DB table prefix problem when specifying DB in wfGetDB Product: MediaWiki Version: 1.19-svn Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: Unprioritized Component: Database AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: jeroen_ded...@yahoo.com Classification: Unclassified I just had a go at installing Central Notice on my local wiki and discovered it fails pretty hard when you are using DB table prefixes. I've done some debugging an one particular issue seems to be in wfGetDB. I'm getting this error: The last attempted database query was: SELECT tmp_name FROM `cn_templates` WHERE tmp_name = '2011EditorSurvey' LIMIT 1 from within function DatabaseBase::selectRow. Database returned error 1146: Table 'mw_trunk.cn_templates' doesn't exist (localhost). Which is coming from this code: $dbr = wfGetDB( DB_SLAVE, array(), $wgCentralDBname ); $row = $dbr-selectRow( 'cn_templates', 'tmp_name', array( 'tmp_name' = $eTemplateName ) ); The wrong thing in the query is that it's selecting from mw_trunk.cn_templates, while I have the prefix mw_, so it should be mw_trunk.mw_cn_templates. Apparently the $wgDBprefix does not get added when specifying the db in wfGetDB. Commenting out this argument in the above code results in a correct query (and no error). No sure what the idea here is, and I'm not familiar with the DB code, so I'm reporting this instead of trying to fix it myself :) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. I think it would make sense to require this for watching as well. On the other hand, with markpatrolled we ended up with a token that is not compatible between index.php and api.php (presumably becuase index.php should not be POST for common actions and thus got an extra salt layer). Gadgets that attempted to use the API to mark stuff as patrolled first have to make an API request to get the token, the one already on the page was not compatible. If we could it would be great if the tokens would be the same to avoid doing the same as we did with markpatrolled. However this may have been done on purpose. I guess once bug 29067 is fixed, we don't have to worry about that anymore since gadgets could just get their tokens from there. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

[Bug 29075] New: Allow MultiUpload to handle one description for file
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29075 Web browser: --- Bug #: 29075 Summary: Allow MultiUpload to handle one description for file Product: MediaWiki extensions Version: any Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: Unprioritized Component: MultiUpload AssignedTo: tdero...@gmail.com ReportedBy: martinezn...@gmail.com Classification: Unclassified MultiUpload was able to handle one description for each file, but on r76108 travis rewrote it so it uses a unique description field for all files. This is a problem on our wiki since we usually categorize our images depending on what characters appear on them and it now defeats the purpose of using MultiUpload. A nice feature would be to return the old way it worked, and also add the option to use a single description field. With a bit of javascript one can show the description fields of each file and hide the general description field, and vice-versa. I'm currently using a hack for this, generating description fields using JavaScript and dumping them to the general description field inside a {{subst:#switch:{{PAGENAME}}| File1 = ... | File2 = ... }} statement, but it's too tricky and probably other people would benefit from this extension. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

The description of the rights parameter at gadget documentation is this: Makes the gadget visible in preferences only to users who have these privileges. It is implicit that this is about users who have ALL these privileges but the bug is a request to be able to indicate that a user is allowed to see the gadget if he has AT LEAST ONE OF these privileges and comment #4 doesn't seems to be a solution for this. Why not? This could be done for logged-in users, I guess, but it definitely can't be done for anonymous users due to Squid caching. The browser language headers can't be detected client-side, only server-side. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. E.g.: tool developers may want some gadgets to be displayed/hidden depending on a logical combination of user rights, such as (rollback AND delete) OR (patrol AND markbotedits) Besides, in addition to the idea of newbie gadgets mentioned at https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13742#c15 some gadgets which are specifically focused on experienced editors should not clutter the interface seen by newbie users. So, in this case an admin could want to hide a gadget unless the user is (NOT autoconfirmed) an so on. The extension could provide a field where developers could enter a boolean expression involving the rights needed in order to specify the visibility of the gadget. The current implementation only allow a specific subset of this, namely: (right1 AND right2 AND ... AND rightN). [Bug 189] Add a music wikimodule
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=189 --- Comment #115 from mybugs.m...@gmail.com 2011-05-21 18:52:16 UTC --- (In reply to comment #114) When I asked Tim about this a while back he said that before it would be installed on WMF servers that he wanted components addressed, and he added his requirements above (c103 c105). They have yet to be attended to. We are looking forward to one day being able to have the extension running at English Wikisource for all those works with music and words. Not just for music based works, but also for things like Groves' Dictionary of Music and Musicians that is calling out for that gift. Is it necessary to add a {{Security alert}}[1] to the extension's page (such as that on [[mw:Extension:AbcMusic]]), warning the user about the security problems/vulnerabilities pointed out by Tim on comment 103 and comment 105? [Bug 29006] Replace tboveride userright with tboverride-account for the 'Account creators' group on enwiki
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29006 Simon Walker stwalkers...@googlemail.com changed: What|Removed |Added CC||stwalkers...@googlemail.com --- Comment #7 from Simon Walker stwalkers...@googlemail.com 2011-05-21 19:09:02 UTC --- JoeGazz84: wrong, wrong, and wrong. tboverride not required for creating user accounts which are blacklisted. Actually, EITHER tboverride OR tboverride-account are required. Hence, it is not essential to some requests, and neither would it break any system. The only thing it would actually change would be the ability of account creators to edit specific blacklisted pages. It wouldn't stop account creators from creating accounts with blacklisted names. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug.
