[Bug 33678] New: Support latest versions of eAccelerator

2012-01-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon

   Web browser: ---
 Bug #: 33678
   Summary: Support latest versions of eAccelerator
   Product: MediaWiki
   Version: 1.18.0
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: Unprioritized
 Component: General/Unknown
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: subfa...@gmail.com
Classification: Unclassified

On http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Cache#PHP_caching it reads:
Note: Any version of eAccelerator will work for PHP caching but if you also
want to use it for Object caching as well, you need version 0.9.5 (later
versions are not compatible).

Can't that be fixed? It's ok when MediaWiki doesn't support years old PHP
versions but not when it forces users to use old versions of software like
eAccelerator.

If a host works perfect he offers latest software versions. But because of
MediaWiki I can't use caching now. Inacceptable

I have the same problem with eAccelerator 0.9.6.1 (which I am forced to use)

Removed eAccelerator shared memory caching entirely

What does that mean? eAccelerator is not supported anymore?

Oh, per comment 17 I thought this was about Semantic Forms in general,
regardless whether one is using query forms through the special page or regular
editing forms. In my case, with MW 1.18 and the latest versions of SMW/SF/etc.
instslled, the bug renders at least one of my editing forms useless.

I see that SIO is misbehaving as well, so that seems to require a closer look.

(In reply to comment #3)
 I agree with your expectation. IIRC there was even a webfonts.all test where
 a
 sample page loaded webfonts for all supported languages with lang tags and
 that
 test passed.

 http://translatewiki.net/wiki/WebFonts_assessment/autotesting2 -- If am right,
 passes for me too on same browser - with a comment, On the article page, all
 fonts render, but on the edit or,my,saz fails and displays squares inside edit
 box. (My guess is i have fonts for others, and they are displaying for local).
 Branch it to new bug if you could reproduce the same.

This is always reproducible but there is no fix. We can apply only one webfont
to a text area. If the text area got 5 words in 5 languages, we cannot apply 5
fonts to text area. For these kind of purpose a rich text interface is needed ,
Something like a visual editor, But textbox cannot handle this.

 PS: For testing this bug I renamed all my oriya ttf files and cleared my font
 cache using fc-cache

nope, renaming wont work. You need to move the fonts out of your system font
directory and user font directory. fc-cache is not for clearing cache, but to
recreate the cache. And font file names are irrelevant to fontconfig. It reads
the fonts and understand the ttf name, glyphs availability etc.

I am closing this, may be you can open a specific bug about UI. But I dont
think we need to list all the font loaded to a page in the webfonts menu.

--- Comment #1 from Santhosh Thottingal santhosh.thottin...@gmail.com
2012-01-12 13:08:57 UTC ---
(In reply to comment #0)
 Scenario 1: Set Enable input method as true on preferences on
 mediawiki/commons
 while using English interface. Even though the preference is set to true,one
 doesnt get IMEs visible.

This is because English does not have any input methods in Narayam.

 Scenario 2: Open Oriya WebFonts Help page (URL), while WebFonts loads on the
 page, Narayam doesnt load even Enable input method is set to true if am having
 en as interface language. Should Narayam also detect page's lang attribute and
 load the related IME's?

For the help page, to edit it, you need to use the edit link, that takes you to
an edit page where edit area disabled and link to Translate extension. There is
no need of Input tool in or in these pages.
While using Translate page, you need the tool, but since interface language and
content language is English , you are not getting it. I think this is an
accepted workflow. If we are going to detect lang tags in a page, and load IMEs
for them, it is going to be a big list. Not all of them will be even editable
elements.

We do detect lang attribute of text areas and load input tools in Multi lingual
wiki like WMF Incubator. You won't see input tool in a page, but you will see
the tool in edit page, if the content we are editing is tagged with a lang
attribute we support. Have a try.

With the current UI, I don't think this is a bug. But may be an input to the
design spec of Universal language selector.

And if you think this is something we need to mention in the user documentation
of Translate extension or Narayam webfonts, please help at
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Extension:Narayam or
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Extension:Translate
Thanks

Hi all,

I came here from OpenHatch.org, and is in search of opportunities to contribute
to FOSS. I chose MediaWiki because I know PHP, JavaScript, HTML and CSS. I have
no experience at all in contributing to FOSS yet, but would like to get
started. I would really appreciate if someone here can help me in getting
started by pointing me to a easy bug. Really looking forward to your reply.

Thanks,
Rahul

Please consider giving this input to the Universal Language
selector(https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Universal_Language_Selector). URL
params are definitely not the way to address usability issues.

There is a chance that this usability request get resolved when Universal
Language selector available even in English wiki.

I am closing this bug since this request is not going to be addressed in the
current design.

[Bug 31986] Fix gender in user namespaces for Portuguese wikis

2012-01-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=31986

--- Comment #5 from Waldir wal...@email.com 2012-01-12 13:39:33 UTC ---
Upon revisiting the issue, I don't think the patch to fix this should include
duplicating namespace names from MessagesPt_br.php into MessagesPt.php, or
vice-versa, as the patch does[1].

I believe this bug actually describes two issues, that should be separate:

1) the neutral user namespace in Portuguese should (arguably) be changed to
Utilizador(a)

2) the messages from a fallback message should work as aliases for the main
language, even if they are defined (the same way the canonical English forms
work).

Probably this bug should be restricted to issue 1), with the second issue
spawned into a different bug.

__
[1] in any case, should that approach be used, the Usuário(a) and Usuário(a)
Discussão forms are missing in MessagesPt.php's $namespaceAliases.

[Bug 24462] Trouble removing pages with special characters from watchlist

[[wikipedia:en:User:Madman]] mad...@shadowedcorner.com changed:

 CC||mad...@shadowedcorner.com

--- Comment #1 from [[wikipedia:en:User:Madman]] mad...@shadowedcorner.com
2012-01-12 14:23:00 UTC ---
I am experiencing the same problem on en.wiki. I was unable to remove redlinks
HAGGER? (thanks, JarlaxleArtemis) and Rome (?!) from my watchlist; I tried
editing the raw watchlist and noted that HAGGER? was listed twice. Removing
the three entries from the raw watchlist did nothing. I finally thought to
check http://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?action=querylist=watchlistraw and they
appeared as follows:

wr ns=0 title=HАGGER? /
wr ns=0 title=HАGGER?  /
wr ns=0 title=Rome   /
wr ns=1 title=Talk:HАGGER? /
wr ns=1 title=Talk:HАGGER?  /
wr ns=1 title=Talk:Rome   /

I can't think of any way I can remove these pages through the API, though I
certainly may be forgetting something (perhaps protecting then unprotecting
them with the relevant watchlist parameter). The presence of these pages is
quite obnoxious, and unfortunately there's no clear watchlist option anymore
that would force them out. Is there some sort of a workaround a developer can
suggest by which I can delete these pages from my watchlist until the bug is
fixed?

I'll probably look at the MediaWiki code sometime this week (I haven't seen it
in some time) and see if I can help out and contribute a patch. :)

[Bug 33682] New: Script adding a redundant row

 Bug #: 33682
   Summary: Script adding a redundant row

  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: Unprioritized
 Component: ProofreadPage
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: pi...@hot.ee
Classification: Unclassified

Seems that ProofreadPage now includes a script that replaces section
begin=Name and section end=Name tags around section text with ## Name ## in
front of section text while editing. When saving or using a preview it is
replaced back in a way that section end tag followed by another section will be
in a separate row.

E.g. Text of 1st section.section end=Section1
section begin=Section2Text of 2nd section. becomes into
Text of 1st section.
section end=Section1
section begin=Section2Text of 2nd section.

I believe the script should keep the section end tag right after the section
text as otherwise an empty row shows up after the section on a page where the
section is transcluded.

So thanks for the patch, I applied it in r108724.

There are several issues with it though, some of which I fixed, but I don't
have the time to take care of the others, so the format is disabled by default
for now, as it does not work on MW 1.17 and later.

The most notable issue is inline JS that breaks when using the resource loader.

Only specific fixes get merged into maintianance branches (Now a days we tag
things to merge on CR with things like 1.18, i don't know if we did that back
then), I suppose nobody thought to merge this fix into the 1.16 branch back in
the day.

It is important that really Primary Keys are used and not just any index.
Otherwise you might get into trouble trying to edit table data. Programmes like
MySQL Workbench do not allow you to edit table data, if the table does not have
a Primary Key.

I spoke to domas yesterday and as far as missing PKs cause problems he proposed
to convert keys to Primary Keys to fix this issue.

The reason for that may be that the text of [[:nl:MediaWiki:Ipb already
blocked]] is interpreted as wikitext, but the raw a tag is not allowed in
wikitext. In any case, I think this is a problem in nl.wikipedia's content for
the Ipb already blocked message, not in MediaWiki itself. Compare en.wp's
version of the message ([[:en:MediaWiki:Ipb already blocked]]), which uses
normal MediaWiki-style links with [.

[Bug 33686] New: SQLite support broken

 Bug #: 33686

 Component: General/Unknown
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org

Beginning with 1.18.0, there is a file called includes/WikiPages.php in which
class WikiPage's public function getContributors() assembles a SQL query using
the FIRST() function. That function is not known by SQLite! Programs using this
will fail on MediaWiki installations based on SQLite. E.g. DumpHTML fails due
to this.

[Bug 32731] WikiEditor dropdowns should behave normally, closing when they lose focus or when ESC is pressed

2012-01-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=32731

--- Comment #1 from Dan Barrett mediaw...@blazemonger.com 2012-01-12 16:40:23
UTC ---
The problem lines are in jquery.wikiEditor.toolbar.js:

$select.append( $( 'a/' )
.addClass( 'label' )
.text( label )
.data( 'options', $options )
.attr( 'href', '#' )
.mousedown( function( e ) {
// No dragging!
e.preventDefault();
return false;
} )
.click( function( e ) {
$(this).data( 'options' ).animate( { 'opacity': 'toggle' },
'fast' );
e.preventDefault();
return false;
} )
  );

A JavaScript developer friend recommends adding a second click handler
immediately after the first, but on the document object, that closes the
dropdown. He submitted this code, which doesn't quite work (the events are
bubbling up when they shouldn't) but maybe will be helpful to you:

.click(function(e) {
var $menu = $(this).data('options');
$menu.animate({'opacity': 'toggle'}, 'fast');
// Assign a click handler to the document to close
var documentOnClick = function(e) {
if (!$(e.target).parents().is($menu)) {
$menu.animate({'opacity': 'toggle'}, 'fast');
}
// Self-destruct: remove this handler
$(document).unbind('click', documentOnClick);
};

$(document).bind('click', documentOnClick);

e.preventDefault();
return false;
})

Hope this helps.

Are you using Postgres? Mysql? Sqlite?

For other devs maybe looking at this: Looks like a change in ParserOptions
causes this to load from the RequestContext user (which doesn't exist in the
installer!). Although it's a similar bug, it's *not* the same as bug 28172 per
the stack trace.

[Bug 15441] Some tables lack unique or primary keys, may allow confusing duplicate data

2012-01-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15441

--- Comment #5 from Reedy s...@reedyboy.net 2012-01-12 17:47:23 UTC ---
(In reply to comment #4)
 It is important that really Primary Keys are used and not just any index.
 Otherwise you might get into trouble trying to edit table data. Programmes
 like
 MySQL Workbench do not allow you to edit table data, if the table does not
 have
 a Primary Key.

 I spoke to domas yesterday and as far as missing PKs cause problems he
 proposed
 to convert keys to Primary Keys to fix this issue.

Cool, thanks for checking. Did he advise if there was a nice way to convert
between them? Other than dropping the index, and recreating it as a PK?

Obviously fixing the ones with no PK or unique key is more easily done

The server's php has postgres, mysql and sqlite capabilities. I tried disabling
postgres module from PHP and got the same error. The database that I will use
is mysql but the error appears just entering the URL for installattion, it
didn't even show up the first step. I have read the bug 28172 and it's similar
but not the same (seems to be some steps ahead).

So I asked an oversighter who knows about this bug to justify why it should be
a higher priority, speaking from their experience:

As it stands, when an oversighter suppresses something, we have to go hunting
to find out if a log exists, then find it, then suppress it separately. It
doubles both the time required, and the likelihood that private information
will be missed accidentally

I believe this is a strong argument for fixing this bug more quickly. Hope you
agree. - THO

OK, I think Badon's report and mine basically come down to the following:

Since SF 2.3.2 (MW 1.18?) semantic forms - whether editing forms or query forms
- refuse to load when they contain section headers.

Badon, could you - by way of testing - eliminate all section headers and see if
the form loads for you. If so, I would suggest renaming this bug report to
something like Section headers prevent semantic form from loading (or else,
start a new one and link back to the current report).

[Bug 33688] New: Wide pages do not scroll horizontally in RTL languages

2012-01-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33688

   Web browser: ---
 Bug #: 33688
   Summary: Wide pages do not scroll horizontally in RTL languages
   Product: Wikimedia Mobile
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: All
   URL: http://ar.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AF%D9%8
2%D9%87%D9%84%D9%8A%D8%A9
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: Unprioritized
 Component: android
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: br...@wikimedia.org
CC: herman.w...@nitobi.com, tf...@wikimedia.org
Classification: Unclassified

Broken out from bug 32123:

 Seeing the scrolling problem in Android app with Arabic pages, possibly all
 RTL
 languages. Here is an example:

 http://ar.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AF%D9%82%D9%87%D9%84%D9%8A%D8%A9

 Also Android browser on nexus One 2.3.6.

 Last section on that page when opened has a better example of the problem.

Easy steps to open this page in the app:
* set to English
* go to page Dakahlia Governorate
* menu / Read in... / select Arabic

This looks like it may be a browser bug/limitation in the Android web view;
same problem is visible in the web browser app (where the whole page is marked
as RTL) on ar.m.wikipedia.org and in our app (where only a portion of the page
is marked as RTL).

[Bug 33424] [SF] Special:RunQuery error takes down pages using it

2012-01-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33424

--- Comment #26 from badon fastgoldf...@gmail.com 2012-01-12 19:48:56 UTC ---
So far I've only isolated the bug on a Special:RunQuery form. The other
problems with SF could be the same bug triggered in different ways, or they
could be entirely different bugs. We need to do more testing to figure that
out, if Yaron hasn't figured it out already.

If I had more familiarity with the inner workings of SF, I'd probably be much
more effective at testing for bugs and isolating them when found, since I would
know what the code is doing, and how to poke it to get it to misbehave.

For example, I don't know exactly what makes a Special:RunQuery form different
from any other form. If there is no difference, then I'd come up with a way to
try my bug trigger on regular forms and see what happens. If they're different,
I might have a guess about how to trigger it on different forms.

I've got a lot of studying to do, I suppose. Eventually I'd like to be able to
fix these bugs instead of just reporting them. I'm not familiar enough with PHP
yet to do that, so I need to find a few months of dedicated time for study and
practice to get up to speed. I'm not sure when or if that will happen.

In the meantime I need to improve my bug testing methodology. I have
experimented with keeping a record of each test and the result, in the order
they occur. Once I've got a good habit-system of doing that, I'll be able to
tell you right away what I did and didn't do. I'm not sure if I've tested
section headers yet or not - I'm pretty sure I did, which is how I found my bug
trigger - but I'll have to do it again to test your hypothesis.

I think I'll have time to focus today on more tests of Semantic Forms. I'll
report my results. I need to study the issues Ryan Lane was having, since I
think he found a couple of bugs I had encountered, but haven't isolated yet.

No version of Android's stock browser that I tested, or Opera Mobile/Mini, was
able to correctly scroll horizontally on RTL pages containing wide images in my
testing.

Only Safari on iOS (tested 5) worked correctly, and even it had a wrong initial
scroll position.

I am considering this bug fixed. Jenkins is now running tests against a
postgreSQL backend so we get IRC notification like :

Project MediaWiki-postgres-phpunit build #23: STILL FAILING in 3 min 43 sec:
http://integration.mediawiki.org/ci/job/MediaWiki-postgres-phpunit/23/

That is enough to remember everyone to have a look at it :-b

Thanks for the bug report. You made me add the Jenkins job!

Fixed in trunk by r98222. Richard, you can manually apply the patch to fix the
issue (aka replace FIRST() by MIN()).

Merged in REL1_18 with r108767.

[Bug 33669] importScriptURI is not defined with monobook skin

 Resolution||INVALID

--- Comment #4 from rai...@rillke.eu rainerril...@hotmail.com 2012-01-12
22:28:13 UTC ---
This is/was because of
http://commons.wikimedia.deployment.wmflabs.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Monobook.js?useskin=monobook

importScriptURI and importScript aren't supported by natively MediaWiki
anymore. But
http://commons.wikimedia.deployment.wmflabs.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Common.js tries
to emulate them.

Since mw.loader.util is undefined when
http://commons.wikimedia.deployment.wmflabs.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Common.js is
loaded, I wrapped a loader-call around the whole js.

This caused that common.js-code was executed after monobook.js; thus
importScriptURI  Co. were undefined.

So there is the question whether it is intended that mw.util is initialized
after common.js is loaded and why mw.util.$content is still null despite all
code is wrapped inside the loader-module.

 If the page is in:

 A  B  C  D

Well the whole idea of category browser is to put the article in D category and
skipping A,B,C :-b

array_unique() works there. But it is on display. We should be able to filter
before rendering, I E when building the category tree.

 ( `which dot`  !$noDot)
Swap them! This way whenever $noDot is true, you will not execute 'which dot'.
Should be:
 ( !$noDot  `which dot`)

Reedy: can we add that to trunk or do we wait for 1.19 branching?
