   Product: MediaWiki extensions
   Version: any
  Platform: All

Status: NEW
  Severity: normal

 Component: Math (texvc)

Created attachment 9856
  --> https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/attachment.cgi?id=9856
Patch to fix missing encoding preamble for "\text{äöü}".

AFAIU, when given a "\text{}" with 8 bit characters, texvc should add an
encoding preamble as with "\mbox{}" & Co., but doesn't.

It would be nice if we could set this to true but then leave it up to the sysop

[Bug 33736] New: Several columns are not updated to newest DB scheme

2012-01-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon

 Bug #: 33736
Summary: Several columns are not updated to newest DB scheme
   Product: MediaWiki
   Version: 1.18.1
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: Unprioritized
 Component: Database
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: mueller062001-...@yahoo.de
Classification: Unclassified

I have an older wiki, which I updated to MW 1.18.1. I ran the maintenance
script update.php and it finished without errors.

When I now compare the DB scheme of that wiki with a wiki, which has been newly
set up with MW 1.18.1, there are two kinds of differences in the database
layout:

First:
Columns of the type integer are not updated to the newest length.
For example I have several columns which are defined as int(8) like
`cl_from` int(8) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',
where in the new DB it is
`cl_from` int(10) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',

Second:
Many columns are of the type char or varchar, while according to the new scheme
they are supposed to be binary.
For example I have
`cl_to` varchar(255) character set utf8 collate utf8_bin NOT NULL default '',
where in the current DB scheme it is
`cl_to` varbinary(255) NOT NULL default '',

I think those updates should still be done.

I've proposed a /32 as the technical maximum because GoDaddy and other webhosts
get ranges of that size. I do not believe the WMF should give leniency with /80
or /96 because one single user never will have a range of that size. If a /64
represents a group, just block single addresses.

The default should indeed be a /64, but we have to be careful about ISPs who
issue /56, /48, and 6to4 addresses.

Just because we have something currently, Doesn't make it good. That is kinda
like saying Windows NT4 was a good server environment, We should still be using
it!

It can and does break page titles on any language that uses a latin alphabet
(eg: English Wikipedia), I know this has caused issues with Q: (wikiquote)
before and as pointed out previously in the comments regarding this request C:
already has articles on en.wikipedia which it would conflict with.

not know this key in the ApiBase::$messageMap and than the key error is

At the moment the action=userrights modules makes nothing, when the user is not
allow to change any userrights or one of the specified userrights. It is better
to get a api error in this case.

Thanks.

You can call UserrightsPage::userCanChangeRights to check if the user can
change any userrights.

So why are single letter interwikis bad?!?

The bug was seen on Wikia (Special:Version states that version 1.16.5 is in
use) and Wikipedia English (Special:Version states that version 1.18wmf-1
derived from r107965 is in use).

Ending a page edit with the proper token in the API yields an error such as

But ending a page upload with the proper token yields an error such as

I believe the permissiondenied code is inappropriate in this situation, because
it is usually used to signify that the user does not have the right to perform
this action regardless of page (for example, an anonymous user cannot upload
files to the wiki). It should be the protectedpage code to signify that the
user does have the right but cannot exercise it for specific protected (hence
the name) pages.

Things have changed: the default action is now 'nosuchaction' and all special

The file revert links on a image page has a loggedIn check. I am not sure, why
this is needed? The only problem is, when click the link there is no form to
change the comment and confirm the revert, the revert is done directly with the
link. That is possible, because the edit token is given in the link. But for
loggedin users the form used another edit token and the edit token from the
link is not needed.

By the way: The permission check for that link should check against 'upload',
not 'edit'.

LocalSettings:
$wgGroupPermissions['*']['upload'] = true;

I still see a lot of such occurencies - needs an investigation. Suspect a load
from DB_SLAVE or something. May I also disagree with this bug's low importance
because all users who see an autoblocked message request an unblock using an
autoblock-specific template and thus get their requests declined. Not nice.

You just reminded me. I recorded a bug in SF 2.2.1 that may be related. When

When anon is allow to upload files and a anon is visiting Special:UploadStash
he get a error:

UploadStash::listFiles No user is logged in, files must belong to users

In my opinion it is better to add a message, that anon has no Stash and not
throw a error with backtrace.

Thanks.

If this isn't going to be solved soon, then the "Nearby" button should be
disabled for the languages for which it doesn't work or should at least show a
message that says something like "Showing articles about nearby locations is
not available for this language". Otherwise it is very puzzling.

I made it not able to create protected titles in r108938. I suppose 1.19 will
be branched & deployed soon, but I marked it for 1.18wmf1 merging anyway to be
sure.

Ideally however, all "fake users" should be subjected to usual action
restrictions, similarly to what I did in r96311 for importing pages (see bug
23057).

It looks like the size is being detected in the wrong orientation... MediaWiki
thinks the image is portrait, while it's getting rendered as landscape. The

Hmmm... would lead to "not logged in" errors in case of users without SUL or
with restrictive cookie settings (no third party cookies). Also it would lead
to errors due to missing rights (account too young).

Maybe it would be better to integrate an option in Mediawiki which replaces all
links to file pages with links to these file pages on commons (possibly with a
suboption to append uselang=). Such a script is already available as user
JavasScript - but that is not a clean solution.

Whoa — I think I just figured it out. If I click on "Further results" for the

It seems like the RSS feed is skipping the first page (whatever limit is set
to) of results and starting at the 2nd page.

On this page I have to ask queries:

http://rwbookclub.com/wiki/RW_Book_Club:Feeds

they are

{{#ask: [[Category:Book Pile]]
|? Added by = creator
|? Added on = date
| sort=Added on
| order=DESC
| limit = 5
| format=table
}}

{{#ask: [[Category:Book Pile]]

|? Added on = date
| sort=Added on
| order=DESC
| limit = 5
| format=rss
| rsstitle=Book Pile
| rssdescription=Latest suggestions of books to consider reading.
}}

The only difference is one is a table and the other is RSS.

The table gives me the correct set of pages. The RSS output results in a
completely different set of results. The criteria are the same though, so this
seems like a bug.

I've tried different variations and the results I get with format=rss are
unpredictable but repeatable. They are ordered properly via the order method,
but the selection range doesn't make sense to me.

The AFT box in the bottom right corner of the screen should disappear once it
has been clicked on and the resulting form submitted or quit. Either that, or
there should be a [X] on the box to dismiss it. A floating box like that may be
a good way to get feedback, but it is also annoying, so it should be possible
to get rid of it (and not just by disabling the entire feature in preferences,
which only works for logged-in users anyway).

Apart from the difference between the official versions and the latest
revisions in SNV or SVN (I forget which), I really don't know.

I'd like to try SF 2.4-alpha and maybe other revisions just to check whether by
any chance the issue has not already been dealt with, e.g. without us knowing
that the present bug was related to an older one. But I can't download the
files except by going through the list one by one, which is obviously a very
tedious and time-consuming process.

[Bug 33713] Show "previous" revisions in addition to follow-ups

2012-01-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon

--- Comment #1 from Sam Reed (reedy) 2012-01-14 15:17:50
UTC ---
We already have "CodeReivision::addReferencesFrom()" and
"CodeReivision::addReferencesTo()"

As for indexes, we are fine:

-- And for our commenting system...
-- To specify follow-up relationships...
CREATE TABLE /*_*/code_relations (
  cf_repo_id int not null,
  -- -> cr_id
  cf_from int not null,
  -- -> cr_id
  cf_to int not null,

  primary key (cf_repo_id, cf_from, cf_to)
) /*$wgDBTableOptions*/;

CREATE INDEX /*i*/repo_to_from ON /*_*/code_relations (cf_repo_id, cf_to,
cf_from);

Always filter by the repo, then we can do a query on to or from no issue!

Thanks for reporting this, seems like this issue was introduced in 1.6. Ought
to be fixed by r108905 - can you confirm?

says it uses the "SIL Open Font License".

I'm not sure if that is sufficient, but it is a start.

[Bug 33723] New: using "from=" in category urls can incorrectly say that categories are empty

2012-01-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33723

   Web browser: ---
 Bug #: 33723
Summary: using "from=" in category urls can incorrectly say
that categories are empty
   Product: MediaWiki
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: Unprioritized
 Component: Categories
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: lejo...@telia.com
CC: bawolff...@gmail.com
Classification: Unclassified

In current Wikimedia version of Mediawiki using category urls with
"from=Something" will say that the category is empty if all sortkeys are
aphabetically smaller than "Something". And no "previous 200 link" is shown.
Example:
http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kategori:Spelare_i_FK_Austria_Wien?from=T&uselang=en

Similar problem can be seen for the subcat, page, and media sections of a
category if the new "subcatfrom=", "pagefrom=", and "filefrom=" parameters or
old "from=" parameter is greater than all sort keys in a section. Then that
section and its previous link is not shown.

The "until", "subcatuntil", "pageuntil", and "fileuntil" parameters have the
same bug (but in the other direction).

Well, people have complained, but nobody opened a bug report, because ThomasV
