Rather than a class maybe we should go for a data- param with some sort of
format specifier. I don't doubt that people are going to be asking for 3
minutes ago style timestamps as well as those formatted into a user's
preferred time.

As for the format specifier, Just tell users to use the [[ISO 8601]] standard
when entering time, What better solution than a standard?

margin: 0 5px is wrong because it generates an additional margin at the end.

Yes, but I meant, if there is no problem with having a margin at the end (I
don't see any problem), then it's better to do it that way because that's
simpler.

If I upgrade a wiki from 1.18wmf1 to trunk after r111695, then until the
startup module expires (5 minutes) I get errors mw.user is undefined and
mw.util is undefined, it doesn't get as far as mw.user.options.

I don't think that is the bug we're looking at here. But as an aside, would it
be possible to reduce the startup module expiry to a few seconds, or remove the
Expires header entirely, prior to deploying a new version?

Not input format, output format. As in what format of time js should insert
into the element.

For example protect-expiring(-local), instead of expires $1 (UTC) / expires
$1 could be something like: expires time data-format=relative
datetime=$4$1 (UTC)/time

Which will end up with a js replacement ending up with something like expires
time data-format=relative datetime=2012-0-12T03:03:47Zin 5
minutes/time.

A change in 1.19 to the irc.wikimedia.org recent changes feed has broken
multiple bots and tools that rely on it. It appears that the change was made to
log reports, but I am not sure exactly what was changed in the format. The
Countervandalism network bots are failing to report log actions, and StewardBot
is not properly reporting user right changes. I have heard of other tools being
affected by this too. If this can be looked into, that would be great. Thanks.

Could be related to the special page name (Log) being translated. Although
that was supposed to be reverted and afaik was.

There is an API to translate special page names but right now bot maintainers
don't know about this and it has worked for years.

The the CVN[1] this is breaking all after-log-action hooks they have (including
those for reporting of local blocks and preventing cross-wiki vandalism). As
well as our hooks for the patrol-action, delete-
action, upload-action (commons upload patrol!) on others.

JSMath seems to be unmaintained, and MathJax is the successor. There's already
a MathJax extension (http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:MathJax), but that
also seems to be unmaintained. (And it's functionality really should be folded
into this extension anyway)

[Bug 33903] jQuery tablesorter tests intermittent failure

2012-02-18 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33903

--- Comment #13 from Roan Kattouw roan.katt...@gmail.com 2012-02-18 10:34:40
UTC ---
My guess as to the probable cause: tablesorter isn't aliasing $ properly, some
local script has redefined $ as a getElementByID() wrapper, and magic $
aliasing doesn't work anymore because it was deliberately (and IMO wrongly)
removed in r111378.

[Bug 34409] 'mw.user.options' and 'mw.user.tokens' are sometimes empty on 1.19, breaking watchlist, gadgets, etc.

2012-02-18 Thread bugzilla-daemon

--- Comment #11 from Roan Kattouw roan.katt...@gmail.com 2012-02-18 10:41:45
UTC ---
(In reply to comment #9)
This issue still appears inconsistently in spite of the deployment of Roan's
fix (r111695). When it does, the add to / remove from watchlist feature is
broken, as are any gadgets relying on mw.user.options and probably other JS
 features.
I didn't deploy it correctly, I forgot mediawiki.user.js . This should be
resolved now that Andrew has re-pushed it.

Consistent reproduction is hard (in some user sessions, seemingly impossible,
with others, continually appearing), suggesting a bug that's triggered under
 certain timing conditions.

Escalating priority until we've got a better handle on this.
I have touched and synced a few files (mediawiki.js , mediawiki.user.js and
startup.js) in an effort to fix this, cause I think it's probably just cached
old code.

Yes, leaving them allows for the problem of Foo.jpg and Foo.png, which sucks,
but happens so comparatively rarely to the problem in this bugzilla as to
almost not be an issue. You probably could code this problem away too, but I
don't want to ask too much.

Even if file extensions are kept in the page titles, it would be desirable to
disallow Foo.jpg/Foo.png duplication.

Also, when standardizing extensions, is the software simply going to be
replacing .Jpeg - .jpg, or is it going to ignore the uploader and base the
extension off of the data in the file? The second would be preferable, and it
seems that MW already checks to make sure that the file is the correct
extension when it is uploaded.

I don't have a device here to test with, but if you checkout the source and put
it on a server of your own, this would be easy to check by going to
/assets/www/index.html

I tested it here with plain safari, and as far as i can tell all markers that
should take care of this seem to be in place, so this might be an Android bug.

Another thing that might be problematic here is the scroller code. something to
test.

The margin is so small that I didn't notice it when developing
mw-content-ltr/rtl. We can do the above fix (the exact patch doesn't work but
it can be adapted), or another solution could be to simply change it to margin:
0 5px; so it would be 5px on both sides regardless of LTR/RTL. I don't know if
that would be OK or if there's a reason to have no margin at the end.

The autodetection filter will detect this as IPAddresses and sort it like
these, but IP/CIDR is not supported by the auto detection, causing unexpected
behavior.

The proper solution here is to add CIDR support, or to enforce IP sorting by
using data-sort-type='IPAddress' on the column. Problem is though that WMF
wiki's still haven't enable HTML5 mode, making the latter option impossible.

Thanks for looking at this Roan. I was able to reliably repro this problem on
wikibooks yesterday shortly after Andrew did the full scap, but not now. I
suspect had we been patient enough, we would have seen this clear up even
without the additional file syncs you did today.

As noted in my comment in bug 34469, the weird part was that it did seem to be
tied to which user was logged in. *shrug*

To be honest I do not see the difficulties associated with this.

The existing rename function only needs to be looped right? In a past
discussion I was told the real difficulty is keeping the account synced on all
tables.

I would totally be fine to wait a day or two when my account is disabled until
the rename is complete.

Also perhaps user id and username should be independent of each other.

--- Comment #4 from jeb...@gmail.com 2012-02-18 15:21:08 UTC ---
Thanks so much for the fix. Minor issue with it. The /xx value in the test
cases are greater than the max number of bits in the IP address, which is 32.
Also, the regexp looks for 1-3 digits in the /xx portion. Valid values would be
1-32.

These observations do not affect the correctness of the solution, but it may be
prudent to minimize overlay with other formats.

[Bug 34421] mutiple headers in emails from UserMailer

--- Comment #16 from Antoine hashar Musso has...@free.fr 2012-02-18
15:37:48 UTC ---
Alex: thanks for your patches, that gave me some ideas to properly fix this
issue. I have send the change as r111832. Comments inside the source code give
some explanations.

To: and Subject: headers need to be handled differently depending upon the
mailer we are going to use.

To:

PHP mail() first argument is the mail receiver. The argument is used as a
recipient destination and as a To header.

PEAR mailer has a recipient argument which is only used to send the mail. If no
To header is given, PEAR will set it to to 'undisclosed-recipients:'.

NOTE: To: is for presentation, the actual recipient is specified by the mailer
using the Rcpt-To: header.

Subject: PHP mail() second argument to pass the subject, passing a Subject
as an additional header will result in a duplicate header.

PEAR mailer should be passed a Subject header.

With r111832, mails sent to a single recipients will look alike with mail() or
PEAR Mail.
For multiple recipients:
- php mail() will show the recipient email and 'undisclosed-recipients:'
- PEAR Mail will only show 'undisclosed-recipients:'

I was thinking the second one too. The issue with the first one is if the
software goes around replacing all cases of .jpeg with .jpg, it is going to
have to find some way to deal with the existing naming conflicts, and I don't
see how the software would do that without creating a mess.

EditPage.php has some checks for edit conflicts. The comment at that place is:

Suppress edit conflict with self, except for section edits where merging is

The link in message 'Logouttext' is a wikilink and the software does not now
the returnto value inside the message. The link must created from MediaWiki and
set with a parameter $1 with the given returnto and returntoquery values.

With the passage of time and the kicking of the proxy caches that's happened,
this bug has partially disappeared. (I can't reproduce it under normal
conditions)

With debug=true, it still reproduces pretty reliably. However, it may not be
dependent on bug 34409 after all. There is a valid mw.user.options and
mw.user.token object. With debug=false, mw.user.tokens.values.editToken is
50bbcmumblemumblemumblemumble+\. With debug=true,
mw.user.tokens.values.editToken is +\

   Product: MediaWiki
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: Unprioritized
 Component: Watchlist
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: gboussard+bug...@free.fr
Classification: Unclassified
   Mobile Platform: ---

Hi,
I find the increase (green) or decrease (red) in the number of bytes not
self-explanatory.
I suggest a roll-over with the pointer show 144 characters less or something
alike.

That is not possible at the moment, because the page restrictions table does
not store that information.

The ipblocks table and the protected titles table store information about
the performer of that action and than you can query this information.

OK, then the category should be changed: this is no more an API bug, rather a
database bug. :-) It should store for practical reasons written above.
