When checking the second option (2) the last question at the end of the installation procedure are Advanced configuration: Settings for object caching: - (1) No caching (no functionality is removed, but speed may be impacted on larger wiki sites) - (2) PHP object caching (APC, XCache or WinCache) (checked) $wgScriptPath is set to empty string in LocalSettings.php so that the installed wiki does not properly work. There are at least two easy ways to accidentally navigate away and loose the half-edited text (which is not terrible given that messages are typically 2-3 sentences at most, but still quite annoying): * Translate relies on hotkeys for saving; both browser and application support for these is somewhat unreliable, thus depending on the language, pressing something like alt-s might result in e.g. closing the tab. * there is no support for typing non-english characters, so translators are left with OS-provided Unicode input sequences. For XSS, this test case seems to work just as well:

It doesn't need forged strip markers. But the infinite loop in comment 4 does
need forged strip markers.

In no particular order:
* tests/js/fixtures.js and javascripts/application.js are loaded twice.
Especially noticeable in debug mode. Please remove the redundant or use a
utility module that both depend on instead of including the same file twice in
two different modules.
* fixtures.js is executing DOM functions without waiting for document ready,
this can be a problem.
* If none of the MF tests are run (e.g. ?filter=jquery.colorUtil), then there
should be no DOM manipulations or global variables/functions defined by MF unit
test code. Schedule dom manipulation in teardown/setup functions, that way they
are automatically reset after each test (so that they don't affect each other),
and it also ensures none of them are ran if the tests aren't ran. Right now it
creates the fixtures also if none of the tests are scheduled to run.
And in debug mode it creates global variables MFE and MFET in some of the test
files, these should be local to the suite, maybe use a closure for them like
( function ($, mw, MFConf, MFE, MFET) {

.. Or, after porting to ResourceLoader, have them all under mw.*, where mw.conf
and mw.messages are automatically reset after each test if you use (or build
on) QUnit.newMwEnvironment().
* the qunit-fixture-x element is non-standard pollution of the document on
Special:JavaScriptTest/qunit and isn't hidden by default. This causes it to be
unconditionally and infinitely visible in plain sight on that page when only
other test suites are ran (e.g. when setting ?filter=jquery.byteLength, the
whole MobileFrontend fixture remains in plain sight.)
QUnit has build in fixture teardown/setup after each test, using the contents
of div id=qunit-fixture at time of the first test as base and resets it to
that after each test. Use the QUnit begin (`QUnit.begin(fn callback)`) hook
to add something to this (do not set innerHTML as that would break other test
suites fixture code, instead append to it from the test initiator via the
QUnit.begin() hook).
* This goes deeper into MobileFrontend's bigger issues, but it's using awfully
generic names and titles all in the main namespace. Such as:
- global function `wm_toggle_section`
- DIV id=logo, nav, sq, search, anchor_1, section_1
* Assertions: The tests for addClass and removeClass should not be using
hasClass for verification. Especially for the tests where it creates a new
element and adds one class, it is more reliable to check the raw className
property for equality instead. The hasClass assertions, similarly, should use
className directly (or just as part of the 'div ../div' snippet) to create
the test and then use hasClass to test it, right now it is mixing too much
leaving a fair chance of missing failures if something is wrong with either one
of them.

Thus, I agree that, unfortunately, this simple patch is not convenient for Wikipedia! But for many corporate mediawikis where official identity is the rule, I am still wondering if it is a good idea or not? Would spy-robots try to reveal e-mails of Officials? On our own 'patched' wikis, an Arabic user was recently very happy to change his English transliterated name with his Arabic identity but still appreciated the facility to enter his English transliterated e-mail for authentication. I am not sure that the pro is balancing the con (unfortunate weakness that could reveal the email address from an identity) and thus I am disappointed by the leak of my patch. Other issues discussed here, like the very nice Narayam extension, are not as simple as this patch and might still discourage people to sign with their mother language identity. Currently most scientists want to sign with their English transliterated name signature but not all of them if a possibility was offered to sign with their own identity. We recently have had a meeting on Multilingualism in Sciences (mostly social sciences) and it was clear that if the results of Science have to be diffused among the populations, scientists have also to share their results using local languages and signatures! Unicode gives us the opportunity to keep that diversity. Someone, at this humble meeting, remembered us the diversity, which was standard before the second war, by highlighting a scientific review were articles were written in Italian, German, English and French. She also presented a scan of a communication from a Chinese statistician were the hand-written captions and headers of tables were also translated into French and not only Chinese. Would the forced English transliteration period last only a few decades? There are probably other places to discuss that. But we should admit that this future is very dependent of softwares (Mediawiki?) and standards (Unicode) as well as hardwares (virtual keyboards of recent smart-phones are offering 8 different Chinese input methods for example). Given two wiki property pages called Calls Service and Calls service
version, both property are property of the instance page Service,
therefore used in Template:Service and Form:Service pages.
Here's the text of the Template Text.

Depending on the order of these fields definition in the template page, two
different use cases occur:
1) If Calls Service preceeds Calls service version, there are no problems,
because the parsing function scans sequentially the template text for the first
name page,
then for the second page name without hiccups.
2) If the order of field definitions are inverted with Calls service version
before Calls Service, the parsing function scans successfully the first page
name, but
the second page name is obfuscated by the first one, and it is systematically
ignored, since its character string is 'already' contained in the first one.
The technical reason resides in the function
handlePropertySettingInTemplate() in includes/SF_TemplateInForm.php:
$cur_pos = stripos( $templateText, $fieldName );
$templateFields[$cur_pos] = $templateField;
It searches the string position of the field name in the template text, placing
the result in an array with the position as key.
A possible workaround solution is to restrict the search for the full fieldName
until the '|' character:
$cur_pos = stripos( $templateText, $fieldName.'|' );
$templateFields[$cur_pos] = $templateField;
A better solution may involve a regexp.

Although the previous svn:keywords did not provide that information, that was just a simple last rev modified number. Right now this bug is just to remove them. We could open a feature enhancement ticket for that other, although I personally never found that needed and release notes seem to be more useful for breaking changes. If we create an API module to programmatically be able to export the version of an Api module, the it could be useful to an Api client to see if it considers itself compatible, that'd be a nice feature. I'm in favor of simple integer increments. When a module changes in an incompatible way, bump v1 - v2 (which doesn't happen *often*).
