[Bug 36993] New: Labs cluster dies daily at roughly 6:30 UTC
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=36993 Web browser: --- Bug #: 36993 Summary: Labs cluster dies daily at roughly 6:30 UTC Product: Wikimedia Labs Version: unspecified Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: Unprioritized Component: General AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: has...@free.fr CC: benap...@gmail.com, rlan...@gmail.com Classification: Unclassified Mobile Platform: --- Everyday, all instances hosted on WMFLabs are made barely accessible from roughly 6:30am for about an hour. The symptoms are: * very high load reported in ganglia for most instances * ssh client reaching timeout * `ls -l` being This is known to be related to I/O and how GlusterFS seems to be lacking in that area. Regardless of GlusterFS, Ubuntu has a default daily cron set up at 6:25 UTC. Which also means that all instances start rotating or processing their logs at the same exact time. There must be a cronjob on some of the instances that uses too much I/O. We would need some metrics in Ganglia about disk usage to find it out. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 36987] List allpages has endless loop with case-sensitive titles, apfrom broken
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=36987 --- Comment #5 from Brad Jorsch 2012-05-21 12:55:00 UTC --- You'd have to somehow set up the conditions I mentioned: have namespace 0 be case-insensitive on the first letter, and the target namespace have titles beginning with a lowercase letter (i.e. the target namespace be case-sensitive, or insert impossible titles into the database for the target namespace). Then you construct an API allpages query with an appropriate apfrom and aplimit so that the continuation is supposed to be a page with a lowercase title, and it will be output with an uppercase title instead. For example, I just created a "Foo" namespace on my local test wiki with this configuration: $wgExtraNamespaces[500] = "Foo"; $wgExtraNamespaces[501] = "Foo_talk"; $wgCapitalLinkOverrides[500] = false; $wgCapitalLinkOverrides[501] = false; Then I created pages Foo:A through Foo:Z and Foo:a through Foo:z, and a query like http://localhost/w/api.php?action=query&list=allpages&apnamespace=500&apfrom=Y&aplimit=4 gives me a continuation of "C" rather than "c". -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug.
