When I try to add my first stream I get the following error:

When using the fancybox upload form in Semantic forms the real upload button is
not visible unless scrolling. Instead, there is a very button like text that
says something like ”upload image” below the form (.fancybox-title). I have had
a bunch of users who failed uploading images because they tried in vain to
click that ”button”, and who failed to see the scrollbar inside the box. I too
was confused by this the first time I encountered the form.
To things could be made to clearify:

1. Increase the height of .fancybox-content. For Swedish 470px seems to be ok
in most browsers, but I guess the contents of the fancybox form might vary in
length depending on language.

2. Remove, restyle och rephrase the little black .fancybox-title-thing

More exactly, the project with the greatest possibilities to succeed is a new
version of LQT called "LiquidThreads 3.0", its development currently being in
pause.

List of wikipedias that are not supported in Wikidata.

I have noticed, while testing the wikidata repo, that some language codes are
not supported. If I try to add an site link to one of them, then the "specify
page" placeholder stays gray and does not allow me to add the page name.

So, I have compared the list of wikipedias on en.wiki with an list over
wikipedias in the code of the Wikibase extension
(https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/gitweb?p=mediawiki/extensions/Wikibase.git;a=blob;f=lib/includes/Settings.php;h=a903dfdb4a3af55f671d7e92a3c84525c878b5e4;hb=HEAD).
The missing wikipedia sites are in the file attachment above.

Note though, that at least two of the wikipedia sites in the list are
redirects, e.g. nb redirects to no.wikipedia and dk redirects to da.wikipedia.

MZMcBride is clearly referring to the fact that if "WilliamH got IPs for
WilliamH", and then the next logged action is "WilliamH got edits from
127.0.0.1", it is rather obvious that 127.0.0.1 is my IP address, and that
remains in the log indefinitely.

Still, the link in its suggested form in this bug file still only links to
instances of the username and the username along having been checked, for
purposes that have already been described.

I've filed this as bug 37626. I consider it a blocker to implementing this bug,
but I won't force the issue.

Another way: I believe there're some HTML parsers inside wikitext parser, to
remove harmful attribs. Maybe we can add some markNoConversion calls when it
sees elements with other lang="".

We have several special pages checking if the user is not logged in and then
craft their own error page.

A recent change in an extension adds yet another implementation:

We would need a generic exception to be thrown whenever the user is anonymous.
So we could just:

if ( $this->getUser()->isAnon() ) {
 throw new NeedLogguedInError( );
}

With a nice default message such as:  "Sorry the action or page you requested
is restricted to logged in users".

There's some awfully convoluted and hackish system set up at
 for requesting a
Gerrit/Git/Labs account currently. This process requires manual approval. This
simply isn't scalable or sensible. It should be possible to create an account
without human intervention.

I've changed the bug summary of this bug from "Sidebar is too narrow" to "Saved
searches in Bugzilla sidebar are truncated and contain errors".

Currently in the Bugzilla sidebar, there are a number of saved searches.
However, (presumably) due to site CSS, they're cut off. For example, "0.
Highest priority ‑ Ch" is how the first saved search reads. This probably just
needs a width set on one of the HTML elements in the sidebar.

"0. Unprioritiesed, non‑" also contains a typo.

And I have no idea why "0." is being used (twice).

It might be interesting to have a Special Page listing the empty pages in the
wiki.
By empty pages, I mean pages that are linked to in articles but that doesn't
exist.

I'm currently creating a knowledge-base wiki, and it seems to me that knowing
which articles are missing in the base so it can be completed easily.

I've been looking for this feature in wikimedia manual and bugzilla and
couldn't find anything about this feature.

Late comment:  For general deployment, case insensitivity needs its own request
indicator.  A case sensitive ~*Mark* is a better wildcard search for people
named Mark than the case insensitive version.

Several changes are proposed to reduce the visual complexity of the Feedback
Form:

- Make the character counter appear only when there are 200 characters
remaining or less.

- For step 2, the title text has been replaced by "Great. Would you like to add
anything else?" (positive case) and  "Sorry about that. How can we make it
better for you?" (negative case).

- Placeholders are reduced to just one question: "How could this article be
improved?" (positive case) and  "Any suggestion for improvement?" (negative
case)

In addition, CTAs 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, should share the same visual

Currently when clicking the "Improve this page" link from the toolbar, a modal
overlay appears showing the article feedback in the middle of the screen.
This blocks the user flow of actions due to the modal behavior, and makes the
form to be at two different places.

To avoid these problems, we can guide the user to the form at the bottom by
scrolling to the bottom of the page and highlighting the form using the Yellow
fade technique (background turns yellow and gradually becomes back to normal
color as described in http://37signals.com/svn/archives/000558.php).

 This can be implemented by the JQuery highlight effect:

Note that the talk page link may be showing up on articles where it does not
belong still (that caching issue) for the next 20 days (though for a constantly
shrinking amount of articles), so we might not want to do this right away.

Hi,
I've skipped 1.18 - so I'm not sure if it was working or not with this release.
On MW 1.19 PdfHandler does not generates thumbnail with generic error code 1
("GPL Ghostscript 9.05: Unrecoverable error, exit code 1").

It seems like GS does not get proper file name to convert, since it's URL file
format. For example:
mwstore://local-backend/local-public/9/9f/FreeLoaderManual-ocr.pdf

Changing this code fixes problem (I haven't seen in MW 1.19 any information
about changes in file api)

An Edit link next to the "Languages" should be added that invokes the edit
interface for language links. In the first iteration this means that the
associated item on Wikidata is being linked to. For pages without an associated
item attached to it a link to an appropriate help page should be added.

Recent changes displays the Title of the page, which, in case of an item, is a
numeric identifier. The recent changes has to include additionally the label of
the item for the selected language in order to be minimally useful.

The normal search box in a Wikidata repo should for know implement a prefix
search over all labels and aliases in all languages.

"Served by mw4 in 18.267 secs"

Normal (uncached) page views take less than 1 second...

When the UploadWizard was developed, there was a very deliberate choice to
limit the "own work" options to the 3 standard Creative Commons licenses. These
licenses cover all the legitimate use cases and are designed for maximum
re-usability in all jurisdictions. We do not want to encourage the use of
incompatible or questionably compatible licenses. If someone insists on using a
non-standard license, they are free to use the old forms, but this should be a
rare exception.

get AFT for a certain value of lotteryOdds is stable, and that articles are

(including one whose page ID ends in 000) to verify no one wins the
lottery
2. Increase the value of lotteryOdds a little
3. Wait for the change to propagate through the caches
4. Check that the lottery is working correctly. When raising
lotteryOdds from, say, 10 to 15, you would check:
4a. a page with a page ID ending in 009 or lower (should already have
won before, should still win now)
4b. a page with a page ID ending in 010 (should not have won before,
should win now)
4c. a page with a page ID ending in 014 (same)
4d. a page with a page ID ending in 015 (should not win just yet)
5. Wait for a while *after the caches have cleared* and keep an eye on
the health of things in Ganglia
5a. If bad things happen, drop lotteryOdds back to its previous value
and give up for now
5b. If things hold up OK, go back to step 2 and repeat until
lotteryOdds has reached 100 (=10.0%)

Notes:
* A reasonable sequence of values for lotteryOdds would be 1, 5, 10, 20, 50,
100
* To find articles whose page ID ends in a certain set of digits and
that are in the main namespace (otherwise AFT shouldn't show up
regardless), you can run the following query on the toolserver: SELECT
page_id, page_title FROM page WHERE page_namespace=0 AND page_id MOD
1000 = 15;
** Please run this on the toolserver (or another non-production
database replica like the one analytics has), don't run it on the
production database. IF you don't have toolserver access, apply for an
account or enlist someone who does (Dario?)
* The value of lotteryOdds should be exported to JS using the
ResourceLoaderGetConfigVars hook (don't use the
MakeGlobalVariablesScript hook for this! Its results are much more
aggressively cached for anons). Variables exported through this hook
have a low cache timeout (5 minutes) but unfortunately invalidation
isn't automatic, you have to trigger it yourself. To do this, run
"touch php-1.20wmfN/resources/startup.js" followed by "sync-file
php-1.20wmfN/resources/startup.js", then wait for the cache to clear.
The server-side cache should clear within 5 minutes, after that your
browser's cache may take up to 5 minutes as well
* To test whether the cache has cleared, check if AFT appears on
articles that didn't win the lottery before but should win it now (see
4a-4d), and test this in incognito mode
* After the caches have cleared, you should wait about 15 minutes
before increasing lotteryOdds again. The reasons for this are:
** After you start getting JS with the new value, it may take up to 5
minutes before everyone gets it. Because different people's browsers'
caches will expire at different moments, the change will gradually
reach readers over the course of about 5 minutes.
** Then once the change has reached everyone, you should wait 10
minutes to see if anything strange happens
* Bad things that might happen include:
** A noticeable increase in load / network traffic / packet loss that
persists and that, when extrapolated to lotteryOdds=100, would be a
significant increase
** Services going down in Nagios (reported by nagios-wm in either
#wikimedia-tech or #wikimedia-operations , I forget which)
*** If something goes down, comes back up, and stays up, it's probably
fine. If it stays down or keeps flapping, it's probably bad. When in
doubt as to whether your changes could've caused a certain Nagios
alert, ask ops

The lottery would be in addition to the whitelists and blacklist:
1) articles on the blacklist should not get AFT even if they win the lottery,
and 
2) articles on the whitelists should get it even if they lose the lottery.

It seems to effect various pages and I'm yet to be able to replicate this.

Since this is a must-have for wider deployment at the end of June, let's plan
to test if it works on en-wiki with a tiny sample this Tuesday, June 19 -- with
the wider deployment to 10% the following week.

For this first test, we are aiming for a very tiny percentage: 0.01% of the
encyclopedia, which should be about 350 articles total. We'll generate a list
of selected article names and URLs, so we can test them quickly.  It's just to
see if the process works -- and if it impacts the encyclopedia in any way,
across a range of pages.

Yes, this has improved the situation. The behaviour over IPv4 and IPv6 are now
comparable:

Time to put page: 63.166557 s

(IPv4)
Time to get page: 1.369060 s
Time to put page: 57.909367 s


Although the transfer rate (1.1MB in 60s = 19kB/s) is not very spectacular - at
least it's consistent for the two, and there is no timeout.

Aaron's fix *should* fix this no later than the 1.20wmf5 deployment (Monday for
en.wikipedia.org, and Wednesday for *.wikipedia.org).  It would probably be a
good idea to backport this to 1.20wmf4.

Aaron is not 100% confident that the fix he made will fix entirely fix this,
which is the point of the logging.  We'll keep an eye on this.

Hmm, guess not. I poked at this briefly. This is the problematic code:

Non-breaking spaces are being forced for some reason.

Putting an e-mail address in the title attribute seems rather silly as well,
but I suppose only logged-in users see these saved searches.

This hasn't fallen off of our radar, it's just that we haven't communicated
very well about status.  Ben, Aaron and I discussed this one last week, and we
have some ideas to try.  I believe Ben tried something last week that
unfortunately didn't help.  We have some hardware on order that we think is the
correct fix, but we've also got more ideas on short-term solutions.  Sorry for
the inconvenience here.

Aaron continues to run this.  He often needs to restart it and babysit, but
there is progress, so it'll eventually get done.  It's probably not sensible to

I think having cuc_page_id default to NULL makes more sense, and enwiki
currently has slightly over 1 million rows in cu_changes where cuc_page_id = 0,
out of ~16mil rows total.

That said, it is only until relatively recently (in the history of mysql) that
NULL values have been allowed for integer types.

That's why you'll see DEFAULT NULL in the char fields, but NOT NULL DEFAULT 0
for the ints.

Changing this is ok wrt the version of mysql in production at wmf, but would
require increasing the minimum required version of mediawiki beyond what it
currently is.

Note that it's probably not Scribunto itself that's eating the text, but later
parser processing that uses PCRE regular expressions in UTF-8 mode.

May need to stick in a UTF-8 validation step on the output from the Lua side
though.
