The description screen is the part of the upload process where important
metadata and other information is stored as part of the file upload. 

The main components are:

* title - auto-populated with monument ID and time/date stamp excluding seconds
* description field - should be shown and labeled "optional"
* ID template - the template that is based on the monument ID, inserted into
the ID template field, a field that is uniquely added to the Upload Wizard for
Wiki Loves Monument campaigns (see below)
* default categories - used as an alternative to the ID template when the
monument ID is unavailable, also populated in the template ID field (to be
confirmed, see below)
* mobile default categories - these are hidden categories created by us for the
purpose of identifying mobile uploads and are: "Mobile upload" and "Android WLM
App" subcategory and user agent if possible

ID template and default categories should be available via the uploadcampaigns
API, meaning they are part of the UploadCampaigns configuration on Commons.
This needs to be confirmed. If they are not available from the configuration,
they would be created automatically by taking the monument ID,
municipality/city and campaign name. In the event the monument ID is
unavailable, default categories are inserted instead, the format of which will
be added to this bug soon.

We use categorytree to display pages belonging to a given category.  Every now
and then, pages would not show up despite belonging to the correct category,
same as pages that do show up (the category is in fact included in a template
included by both pages that do appear and ones that don't, so we know it's not
a misspelling of the category name).

e.g. as of this moment -- this page
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:WM_UA/Programs_in_Ukraine_2012

Does not appear in either: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Index/Requests
Nor, more distressingly, by directly accessing the category itself:
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:WMF_grants_funded_in_FY_2011-12

This is a major problem, as it can throw off reporting and hides information
related to money expenditure.

In essence, this is an improvement, although I'm always sceptical about the
value of putting image filenames into alt text. That's a recipe for annoying
screen reader users - but obviously better than nothing.

As a developer myself[1] I hate to be whiny user and put a "me too" comment,
but this font bug makes Wikipedia nearly unusable (without zooming in of
course) in OSX/Safari. In Linux/Firefox, the font size is too small but still
legible without zooming in. I've no clue about Windows/IE since I don't have
those available to test.

If I understand correctly, as the bug title suggests, it's a bad idea to
specify an em size less than 1 because 1.0em means the size of the font that
the user has set (or is default) in their browser. As mentioned in the previous
comments, this a well known problem such that people are starting to make
browser extensions and user scripts to fix it themselves. There's a massive

For the record, I'm on a 13" Macbook Air with OSX 10.7, Safari Version 5.1.6
(7534.56.5), Standard Font is set to "Geneva 14"[2]. My screen resolution is

This seemed like an appropriate bug report to comment on, but let me know if
there's a better one or if I should create a new report or if there's a

[1] Not a web developer FWIW
[2] I can't remember if I changed the default font but Wikipedia is the only
site I can remember where it's not perfectly legible, and it'd be a shame to
have to set it bigger and zoom out on every other website except Wikipedia.

We currently are not scanning pdfs. We may start doing that, or may implement
this as a bot to scan and flag suspicious pdfs after they have been uploaded.

I've found the cost of all the noise switching back and forth between bug and
enhancement to far outweigh any benefit. I don't care what you call this ticket
and neither does nearly any other ticket filer.

The VisualEditor extension should work with non-Vector skins. (And the fact
that it doesn't is getting in the way of power-users, a good number of whom use
Monobook.)

You can classify the request as whatever you'd like or just disable the stupid
categorization altogether. Nobody cares.

I split the lack of support for other skins out to bug 38154.

Changing this bug's summary from "VisualEditor: Nice error messages for
no-JS/no-Vector users" to "VisualEditor: Nice error message for users without
JavaScript". VisualEditor isn't going to be Vector-only, so there's no reason
to work on an error message for that.

obnoxious, so I replaced with something sensible it in

Currently we show a pin for every monument in the map view. Instead lets
cluster high density areas similar to what cloudmade does

Maybe, the unit tests written at the time use data() though.

The data-sort-value attribute is used to pre-populate the data storage, but
later modifications are only stored in the properties, not in the attributes.

Calling .data() will do the same as .attr(), except that .data() will be up to
date if the value has changed.

Discovered when implementing bug 24950.

The docroot was missing. Definitely because someone played with git commands
and the labs common directory. Maybe a git reset ? :-(

Anyway, I have copied the docroot from the old-config backup, that fixed the
issue.

It's not a big problem for me now because I was able to find which commit the
error came from but it might cause a surprise on the next 'official' release
for user of automatic ldap authentication.

The only symptom I still get not is a failure to log on the first page when
returning to the site (probably due to session/cookies timeout), reloading or
navigation to any other page fix it (session/cookies renewed or something
alike).

We could probably use the server side User class as a loose inspiration (at
least in terms of method names).

Currently we have:
mw.user:
 - anonymous(): bool
 - name(): string|null
 - options(): mw.Map from module user.options (Preferences from user_options)
 - tokens(): mw.Map from module user.tokens

Renaming name() to getName() would make sense indeed (similar to how version()
and state() have been renamed to getVersion() and getState() in mw.loader).

And getGroups and getRights matches User.php as well :)

Currently to get the user name or group you do mw.config.get('wgUserName') or
mw.config.get('wgUserGroups').

In Gerrit change 13628 I tried to add wgUserRights. Krinkle has said that this
makes the page too heavy though.

What's suggested is that we make new methods in mw.user which are asynchronous,
use the API and cache the data.
E.g. mw.user.getName(), mw.user.getGroups(), mw.user.getRights().

I replied in Gerrit: I cannot determine from bug 37863 that this should be the
new default font. Can you please get clarity on that? If there is consensus to
make the change, I don't have an issue with it. Otherwise, I'd like to see it
added as a secondary font.

Yeah, as far as the production flow goes, this isn't an issue. The server
properly response with mw.loader.state({'foo':'missing'}) pointing the state
machine in the right direction and handling of dependencies all go as expected.
Nothing is visibly failing or stuck half-way initialization.

I find interesting that the server responds with "missing" instead of "error".
This suggests that perhaps the module wasn't allowed to be registered in the
first place (i.e. the exception was thrown in ResourceLoader::__construct or
::register?).

If that's the case, we could log from mw.loader.state instead.

At least a console.log() (if console exists) would be nice.

We don't necessarily want to break processing by throwing an exception, so that
one plugin being missing doesn't explode the site...

In the example URL, where both clean changes and RC patrol are enabled, the
filtering works, but the ! signs are broken: no exclamation mark is shown for
unverified diffs (it's still shown for unverified pages). If you don't filter,
all verified (eg autopatrolled) changes _and_ pages have the !.

Nope, not reverse proxies. I hadn't pulled the latest MW code to the server,
and UserNotLoggedIn exceptions apparently got added _really_ recently.

It seems Luis would like the GoogleNewsSitemap extension installed on
eswikinews. I don't think this extension has been reviewed and approved for WMF

This is almost a duplicate of bug 14901 except that LQT is a very special case.
An ad-hoc notification is needed so that it's understandable and it also can be
sent to watcher of the target talk, see blocked bug.

Failing tests with a non-English uselang or content lang:

* jquery.tablesorter: Basic planet table: ascending radius
* jquery.tablesorter: Basic planet table: descending radius
* jquery.tablesorter: bug 8115: sort numbers with commas (ascending)
* jquery.tablesorter: bug 8115: sort numbers with commas (descending)

Moving bug from Unit tests to JavaScript and renaming bug accordingly. These
failing tests are most likely an actual bug and not related to the unit test.

We have a script to do precisely that shipped with MediaWiki

The point is so these don't need updating every 5 minutes due to development
changes through a release cycle

I can confirm that these issues were fixed in prototype. Makes a big
difference!

Thanks as well for fixing the bug related to unflagging, which works as
expected now.

Regarding your question about helpful/unhelpful, we had initially intended to
increase the counter, but not print any lines to the Activity log, back when we
were trying to push this through quickly.

Now that we are caught up, I would be prepared to show the Helpful/Unhelpful
actions in the Activity log, but only if it doesn't introduce issues that would
slow down performance, or require a DB schema change.

And any change like this would be for the next deployment, not this one ;o)

It doesn't appear that Reha completed the last assignment on this ticket, which
is to replace the CTA link to the permalink page with this new 'MycLast Post'
link.

Tthis is the link that goes under 'Thanks! your feedback was .
This change should be made to all CTAs that have text (CTA1, CTA2, CTA3, CTA4
AND CTA5)

Would you be able to do this on your end? I realize this is too late for this
deployment, but let's definitely fit it in the next deployment, if possible.

As a screen reader user, I support this solution; it sounds like the most
sensible one, seeing as almost every image description page must be linked for

If I had to hazard a guess it's because toHex/toUnsigned in the IP class isn't
stripping off the prefix size before passing it to ip2long, which then returns
false and there's no error checking.
