\acute is a 'mathmode' operator, not a textual element. \mbox renders text in
the font that surrounds the mathmode part, but has lots of issues apparently
(looks a bit as if it's just mathmode, but with a different font). \text (part
of AMS) is the best way to render text inside mathmode apparently.
bug 2458 basically discusses the issue that there are named operators in latex
\lim for instance, that some users would expect to be rendered as lím in
certain countries. In the discussion of the bug, multiple workarounds to create
lím in other ways are being discussed, however none of those methods are ideal.
With AMS and MathJax you can actually do it the proper way, which is:

This case deales with the simplest case of the only one. 3) Assume one finds the best matching category (or just created one) 4) I start file upload 5) The current category should at least be offered to be added to theimage. Or even by added by default. Similar workflow: (Starting in the File: namespace) 1) I find an existing image that matches my new images perfectly. 2) My new uploaded image should have initially all the categoriesthe original image had. Some of it might be easier to do using UploadWizard, but filing under core (it might be possible for the core as well). Maybe in general uploads should/could inherit catgories of the place the user is actually in. Might be a very usable thing for mobile uploads - find similar picture, upload more, next..., next..., next... Since you posted this (2010!), there have been a couple of developments that you might be interested in: Following a feature request for the eagerly awaited VirtualEditor extension, James Forrester of Wikimedia dropped a note at bug 37934. See the response by Gabriel Wicke and http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Parsoid/RDFa_vocabulary (to which he refers). A more ad hoc solution was designed for the Transcribe Bentham Project at UCL. It uses a number of custom extensions: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:TEITags http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:JBTEIToolbar http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:JBZV Although this stuff has not been tested for later versions of MW, it shows at least that such things are possible. I don't know what role SMW could play here. Perhaps the syntax required for a TEI document could be semi-automated using templates and Semantic Forms? This makes it trip because the REPLACE INTO msg_resource will just add a new row instead of replacing the old one. We have ran into this issue at two different installations, both where missing this constraint.
