The group of bureaucrats and deleters (eliminadores) should have the same
rights that those on autoreviewer group have. The right to edit pages on this
protection level should be given to them too. Thanks.

The backspace button is sometimes deleting the character immediately ahead of
the caret, instead of the character behind it. Other times, the backspace
button functions fine, though I don't know which situations it works or doesn't
work in. 

For example, in [[VisualEditor:Test]], if one selects the place between the "n"
and "l" in the word "only" on the third line and presses backspace, "oly" is
displayed for a split second before changing to "ony".

Tested on Chrome/IE9/FF15 on Windows 7.

I have found the "cleanFileName" function from
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Gadget-AjaxQuickDelete.js being
called as a part of
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:RenameRequest.js which holds the
code for the RenameLink gadget. Indeed, when you are not a file mover, visit a
file page and click the "Move" tab, the gadget's dialog appears and there if
you change the value in the "Enter the new name" field to "A.JPG" and leave
that field by focusing another one, cleanFileName gets called and the field's
value is automatically normalized to "File:A.jpg".

Yes, I could insert the Rename template manually, but the gadget seems to be
more efficient.

And, I am not a filemover so I cannot check myself, but User:Taketa has
suggested at
http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk%3ABlahma&diff=77628385&oldid=77600880
that the same normalization occurs in the actual filemoving interface (and is
the cause of .JPG and .jpg considered "identical"). Could someone please
recheck this?

It is. Trust me, this has always been the case and likely will not change
because this is the system as it was designed and what users wanted when they
requested it to be enabled on their wiki.

It is based on the patrolling of individual edits, to distribute the work-load
while also not causing unworkable workflows where one can't make a casual edit
without having to be aware of the entire page. For that there is
FlaggedRevisions.

What do you mean when you say the link should not disappear? What link where?
When does it disappear when it should not?

Regarding discoverability of the patrol link for the first edit, this is a
known problem and has to do with database performance. Apparently it is
expensive to calculate that link for the first revision of the page.

Its the same, except that patrol-links for edits after the first one are more
visible than patrol-links for the first edit.

Nice catch, to both.

Just for your information though. The dependency on mediawiki.user is not
subject to the usual race condition because user.tokens is embedded into the
HTML output.

Looks like UniversalEditButton may or may not have actually adopted the
rel="edit" form -- http://universaleditbutton.org/Suggestions#Linking_Scheme
lists it and includes a mention of me adding it, but
http://universaleditbutton.org/Add_The_Link still lists the rel="alternate"
format.

This is the kind of thing that's really meant to be open-ended though, I'm a
bit baffled by the idea of rel values being registered. Is that new in
HTML5-land?

I agree that is too many preferences.

I suppose they could easily be stored in a single entry though (JSON or
serialized php). Or name them with clear prefixes and matching suffixes between
rc and watchlist

I was thinking old bad rows due to some problem a long time ago. I noticed the
person adding the fa_sha1 column in gerrit
(https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/17512/) made the populate script skip NULL
entries, so assume there are some floating around in the DB.

Assuming these errors don't appear on a freshly installed wiki I'll assume this

That used to be the case but it's not anymore. Java from v6 upd 10 supports a
limited set of Flash's crossdomain.xml functionality. I've added a
crossdomain.xml on upload.wm.org last week, did a quick version survey using
logs & User-Agent strings and Tim deployed a switch of Cortado to bits this
week for OggHandler.

Note that there's a slight exception to this: IcedTea does not support
crossdomain.xml, even at the latest version. However, Cortado never worked with
IcedTea for different reasons and as far me and Tim can see, so this isn't a
concern.

That's totally outdated. It is meant to fetch it from API/database, where the
problem reappears.

Isn't blacklist matching only needed in the stage of editing? Can't we compare
it then and take the correct url to the database?

canonicalize links to make blacklist matching better.

I am checking for dead links and in the mentioned cases the decoded urls are
dead whereas the original urls are ok. If it is not fixable by you I consider
that as a bug on your side and make exceptions for those links.

The change from 2006 that introduced external links and quoting is
eb53cc08560721208e195c0f073809e7b3eee485

(mangled links highlighting in gerrit is

very similar problem)

This is intentional. There is a function in the parser, called
replaceUnusualEscapes, that normalizes the URL by removing all URL escapes that
are not prescribed in the RFC 1738 are dequoted, so only characters outside of
ASCII range (32,127) and those having some meaning in the URL are escaped
<>"#{}|\^~[]`;/?

The rationale is this:

* Convert unnecessary URL escape codes in external links to their
equivalent
  character before doing anything with them. This prevents certain kinds of
  spam filter evasion. (Parser.php only)

that can be used by particular schemes (or more). It also defines "unreserved

   Characters that are allowed in a URI but do not have a reserved

   URIs that differ in the replacement of an unreserved character with
   its corresponding percent-encoded US-ASCII octet are equivalent: they
   identify the same resource.  However, URI comparison implementations
   do not always perform normalization prior to comparison (see Section
   6).  For consistency, percent-encoded octets in the ranges of ALPHA
   (%41-%5A and %61-%7A), DIGIT (%30-%39), hyphen (%2D), period (%2E),
   underscore (%5F), or tilde (%7E) should not be created by URI
   producers and, when found in a URI, should be decoded to their
   corresponding unreserved characters by URI normalizers.


But here only externalinks table is affected, which is useful for tracking
links. The URLs in the wikitext are displayed and linked as they were.
Therefore  I am not this is a bug. What's the problem?

Cortado has to be on the same domain as the media to not trigger the java
security warnings. ( i.e you can't really move it to bits .. unless your
serving all media assets from bits ) 

But we can relatively easily add support for a $wgCortadoJarFile override if

It is a problem of DPL and the api is only one part, where this bug is visible.

You will also not seeing the links on Special:WhatLinksHere of the target or
with list=backlinks of the target, because there are not in the database and
cannot be selected.

The right 'deletelogentry' is missing a opposite right, which allow only
viewing the deleted part of the log, but not changing.

For right 'deleterevision' that is 'deletedhistory' or 'deletedtext', which
allow viewing the revision deleted parts of revisions.

hold an item for now but should be changed to "entity". This will have
implications for all modules that subclasses from this one.

The item will have an additional type field after the change.

In wbgetitems there is a containing structure called "items". This only holds
items for now but should be changed to "entities". At the same time the module
should be renamed "wbgetentities" and there should be subclasses doing
specialized queries.
