squid3 error page

14.44 < paravoid> we had a failed disk in one of the backend squids
14.44 < paravoid> someone replaced that and reprovisioned the box
14.45 < paravoid> but we've changed the default distro for new installs to
precise
14.45 < paravoid> and precise has squid3, which a) has that new error page, b)
does not work with our configs at all
14.49 < paravoid> iow, a messup from our side, apologies.

Hmm... strange.  It might be a "localhost" thing, too.  

BTW, since I didn't explain it in my initial report, I'm running Mac OSX
10.8.2, Firefox (nightly) 19.0a1.  Server: Apache 2.4.3, MySQL 5.5.28, PHP
5.4.7.

hmm i'm the one who created that discussion.

There're two pictures broken in this article.

The first one,

https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/30313 adds a mechanism to preserve the wikitext
of attributes. This should be expanded to cover more attribute keys emitted in
the serializer, and should also be extended to cover values. See the comment in
line 293 in ext.core.LinkHandler.js for another use case.

Basically, make sure we don't round-trip to the output of tokensToString when
something is not preserved as-is because it contains non-text tokens.

So for https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Road_E22_Latvia.svg the first
upload was at 20121015070818. At 20121015080748 it was evicted to
mwstore://local-swift/local-public/archive/e/e0/20121015080734!Road_E22_Latvia.svg
(an "archive" location). This normally happens on re-upload (except the `image`
table row is also moved to an `oldimage` row and a new file is created, taking
over the `image` row entry).

On clicking submit after editing an empty user page (link appears as
http://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=User:Jeblad&action=submit) I get an
"internal error" saying [39c065a3] 2012-10-26 23:53:41: Fatal exception of type
MWException.

On the page the text seems pretty safe, only a few iw-links, but replacing the
text with "foo" turned up another message, now the message "Missing wiki" and
I'm redirected at Meta.

Setting sup.references line-height to 1 makes it less worse, but the only way I
could get it fully resolved was by adding:
sup.reference { position: absolute; line-height: 1; }
which probably isn't a good solution.

the problem as seen in google chrome

On hindi wikipedia, wherever a reference is present in a line, that line seems
to be slightly higher than lines without references, i.e the superscript seems
to increase line height slightly.

Example: see http://hi.wikipedia.org/s/43g

Though not a functional problem, this is annoying. Also, it seems to be
happening cross-browser, and does not seem to depend upon whether WebFonts is
active or not.

I have seen this in 22.0.1229.94 m, firefox 15.0.1, opera 12.01, IE8 and safari
5.0.3 with Windows 7 Home Basic X64.

In order to make Beta Labs scale from a staffing perspective, we're moving away
from a model where you ask Antoine to set something up, and he does all of the
magical black box stuff to make it happen.  At this stage, Antoine is playing
the role for Beta that Mark Bergsma plays for production.  Deploying to Beta is
more and more looking like the same process that we use to deploy to
production.  There are definitely differences, but Antoine can guide you on
those issues.

Let us know who needs access and training, and Antoine can work with that
person to set it up.

I'm not even sure this should be changed in the WMF config... Shouldn't the

the file was badly muxed so oggThumb could not handle it, after uploading a
remuxed version, the thumbnail is created as expected.

A central way to see all activity of a specific user in Bugzilla might help.
Unfortunately there is nothing currently available in/for Bugzilla that I'm
aware of (except for running a query which would only provide a buglist of
tickets touched by a user - not very helpful).

Personally I like https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/page.cgi?id=user_activity.html
which is rather a hack. Its code (not a proper extension as far as I know) is
at

so I think this fallback setting should be a temporary solution only.

There was an issue detected on the WLM 2012 survey, where be-tarask wasn't
translating the languages while be was. This was due to CLDR not having the
country names in be-tarask.
An investigation showed that both be and be-tarask had English as fallback (we
have a third variant, be-x-old, but that's a deprecated alias for be-tarask).


User:Wizardist considered that the best way out would indeed be to set the
fallback language to 'be'.


Although originated in the toolserver, and on Intuition copy of the fallback
rules, such change should be performed at a general level.

The main namespace appears to be set up to contain data items now. So it cannot
contain wikitext pages. No exceptions, unless you set $wgContentHandlerUseDB to
true. 

I suggest to put the main page at Wikidata:Main_Page. I think our setup
instructions also say that.

I verified that nonexistent pages give me a 404, so I think this is fine. I
haven't checked other error conditions because they're nontrivial to reproduce,
but as long as Parsoid only returns a 2xx status code when it's actually
delivering parsed content and uses 4xx/5xx for errors, I'll be fine.

It's fixed in master, but not on the WMF projects: we're still unable to delete
empty pages when the last non-empty revison has been revisiondelete-d.

We're recently experiencing a big increase in errors and suspensions of the
Microsoft translation memory.

rakkaus log random stats for August, September and October (not reliable):
"Unknown error" 92, 141, 370; service suspended 8, 17, 203. It happens several
times per day since October 6.

I don't know if we're using a key (the monthly character limit for free
accounts is only 2 millions
 )
but I doubt that can be the problem as August had about three times more
translations than September or October.
There don't seem to be big news about the service except a new commercial
brother service three months ago

and a capacity expansion last year

I can't repro these problems on all pages on my Nexus One (2.3.6) but some
pages seem flakier than others.

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Africa seems flaky for instance and I
sometimes have trouble tapping links or opening sections; other big pages may
have similar problems?
