[Bug 24643] MediaWiki:Mwe-upwiz-mins-secs-remaining needs plural support
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24643 --- Comment #8 from Nemo federicol...@tiscali.it 2012-11-09 08:01:34 UTC --- (In reply to comment #7) @nemo: you mean a third parameter needs to be added to MediaWiki:Mwe-upwiz-mins-secs-remaining in order to support plural for remaining word in this message, because sometimes it depends on $1 + $2 ? Yes. If I understand correctly how the translator wants to use it, it's a correct usage of plural for Esperanto. (In other languages, to achieve the same reliably you'd need to use a second message or the new plural syntax, see the recent http://laxstrom.name/blag/2012/10/29/muir-woods-has-one-tree-plural-issues-in-mediawiki/ . This single message is not quite ideal even in English, if it displays things like 0 minutes and 30 seconds etc.) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open a long article for editing, scroll down a bit. 2. Hit preview (make sure you don't use LivePreview). 3. When your computer is slow enough, focus the textarea before WikiEditor loads. 4. Wait for WikiEditor to initialize. Expected result: The text is scrolled down a bit (as you left it before the preview), the focus is still in the textarea (if you focused it in step 3). Actual result: The text starts at the beginning, the focus is lost. This happens in jquery.wikiEditor.js in line 502: $textarea.wrapAll() seems to reset the scrollTop property of the textbox as well as it removes the focus, at least in Firefox and Internet Explorer. The scrollTop property and the fact that the textarea is focused should be saved before the WikiEditor structure is built in the DOM and restored afterwards. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. Mark does *not* like it. * there are probably ways to do this with the new Varnish caches. * Migration to Varnish is at least 6 months away. * ULS can still be used as a convenient way to switch UI language for logged in users. High priority: sortable rowspans don't work together at all, pretty visible for readers. For all subsequent headers this means that the column being sorted is two columns to the left of the clicked header. Any chance the table sorter could be modified to handle this? PrimeHunter 14:14, 8 November 2012 (UTC) What is the logic about a colspan=3 on a header, and then saying that the column should be sortable, while that column actually contains 3 columns per row.. There are so many 'implied' assumptions being made by authors in such a process, it's difficult to explain that to a JS. Also probably not that 'accessible' to screenreaders btw. Perhaps we should just avoid such constructs on tables. —TheDJ 14:27, 8 November 2012 (UTC) Note to myself: The previous issue for this example when values were shown in wrong table cells (making the table completely unreadable) was a markup issue: Using ! instead of | in this specific table: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=2012_in_filmdiff=521988570oldid=521959220 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 41884] Update names of special pages for Ukrainian
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41884 --- Comment #13 from Siebrand s.mazel...@xs4all.nl 2012-11-09 12:35:23 UTC --- (In reply to comment #10) Sorry for probably a stupid question, but could you point me out which line of MessagesUk.php contains a translation for the name of Special:ExpandTemplates page, for instance? The answer is that it is not in there. ExpandTemplates is a MediaWiki extension that defines it's special page names in the extension. MessagesUk.php only contains special page names for special pages that are part of MediaWiki core. So the file you're looking for is in another repo (all URLs shorted, because bugzilla fucks them up), namely that of ExpandTemplates: http://hexm.de/ExpandTemplatesRepo The link to the file is http://hexm.de/ni. [Bug 41836] Foo?action=info should rather be Special:PageInfo/Foo instead
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41836 --- Comment #6 from Krinkle krinklem...@gmail.com 2012-11-09 12:37:50 UTC --- (In reply to comment #5) Design-wise I don't see how this is a good idea at all. Other than cosmetic differences, what's the difference between article?action=foo and Special:foo/article? If anything, the distinction is separate for a good reason. Actions should be reserved for just that, actions, i.e., operations that affect a singular article, such as edit/move/view/delete/undelete/etc. It is actually the opposite. To the user the difference is just url cosmetics, but that's quite irrelevant in this discussion. Though the pages for an action and a special page look very similar, they are built in very different ways. And the problems we had with the tab and toolbox adapting to the correct page shows this problem. We're talking about the backend usage of using a SpecialPage vs. Action subclasses. The proposed situation here is that over the years the differences for having these separately (where Actions were formerly just methods on the Article class) have reduced if not, become no longer applicable. For example the following ones are all related to a page (query): * Special:WhatLinksHere * action=view * action=history * action=info And these as well (more manipulations of state, less information retrieval): * action=delete * Special:Undelete * Special:MovePage * action=purge * action=edit * action=protect So it makes sense to have one back-end interface for pages, and have a method for setting the page context (which would affect the tab bar, page title and toolbox). One interesting difference is that actions don't take parameters (you can't go to action=history and enter a page name, but you can go to Special:WhatLinksHere and enter a page name). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. I think it is more the opposite. It becomes are more significant problem. Special:SpecialPage listings contain pages that take page specific and user specific parameters (like Special:WhatLinksHere and Special:Contributions), but also things that are context specific for the current user (like Special:Preferences and ChangePassword). In the current way there is still a need to have these be clarified which are and aren't personal. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

[Bug 19536] AJAX tabs in monobook, vector...
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=19536 Krinkle krinklem...@gmail.com changed: What|Removed |Added Status|REOPENED|RESOLVED CC||krinklem...@gmail.com Depends on|30713 | Resolution||INVALID --- Comment #3 from Krinkle krinklem...@gmail.com 2012-11-09 13:26:20 UTC --- The history API would allow this feature to be more transparent, but doesn't help in the implementation of it. This bug is way too generic and not solvable in and of itself, unless it is repurposed for something like Implement client-side html template mash-ups and convert all special pages and actions to expose their data through the API to make everything AJAX. A just make tabs AJAX is not useful, nor very desirable as stuff would break all over since extensions can manipulate the page in many ways (not just the main content area, things like tabs, toolboxes, user portlet, redlink status, set cookies etc.) all kinds of things have state in the interface. For example extensions can set session, and cookies. Those can't be converted to be loaded through the API without being completely refactored or rewritten (it may be done in an automated way, but such implementation would not be acceptable or scalable by our standards). For example, VisualEditor has an Edit tab that generates the surface dynamically (no reload), however this is a specific implementation for one feature in one extension. Marking this as INVALID because it is not an implementable or thought through development issue. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug.
