How to reproduce:

Go to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Village_pump_(policy)
([[d:Q3178474]]), click "Edit links" will take you to
https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Special:ItemByTitle/enwiki/Wikipedia:Village%20pump%20(policy)

However that page is autofilled with Site: "enwiki" (correct) and Page "Village
pump (policy)" (incorrect).


This also applies to categories, like [[Category:Toronto Toros players]]
([[d:Q4423149]]).

I've tested this in monobook/vector and logged in and out.

The value parsers parsevalue module is somehow enabled on client Wikibase
instances.

It is not needed there yet, especially stuff like bool, float, geocoordinate,
int, null, title.

probably is a duplicate.

As an interim solution, I removed a big fat ugly template from [[:en:New York
City]] and then was able to save the page within the timeout period.

Maybe it's just this one especially bad apple :) of a page that I'm editing. 
Although note general slowness all around, especially on big pages with large
revision history, lots of templates, etc.

Confirmed that 800px returns wrong thumbnail. Action=purge does not seem to
flush the bad thumbnail. Also appending extra stuff to the end of the 800px url
in order to try to bypass squid/varnish seems to have no affect.

Something wrong on the swift layer maybe?

I made a couple changes:

1. I used page instead of pageName for brevity.
2. They are actual links, not onclicks.  However, they still have the button
class and look and act like buttons for the most part.  But e.g. they show the
URL in the status bar (if applicable) and you can open in a new window/tab,
like links.

I want to *emphasis* this bug has nothing to do with wikidata, as I confirmed
the issue before we enabled wikidata on enwiki.

I've been having trouble consistently with editing [[en:New York City]] the
past days that I've tried.  And it's been an issue before with other large
articles.

It takes like 30-40 sections just to load a page or revision of that article.

I takes longer it seems when I edit, hit save, then it times out and never
reloads.  My edits *do* get saved and I have to manually reload the page (as
above, takes another 30-40 seconds) and I can see my change *did* save.

This is a horrible user experience for editing and does not make me want to
actually edit and improve such Wikipedia pages.  For a current events-related
article, I'm sure the user experience would be next to impossible with edit
conflicts and more.

At minimum, if we could increase the timeouts so a save and reload actually
works would be great.

Generally, I'm hoping Lua and other stuff can help improve the experience but
otherwise can't think of a specific solution to the general issue of slowness.

I'm wondering if this should be reported as a [[mw:extension:RelatedSites]]
bug. The extension pushes specified interwiki links (mostly sibling projects)
into the sidebar. The list of interwikis to be listed as "related sites" in the
sidebar is a global variable specific to the extension, but the names shown to
the user for those wikis seem to be taken from the list of languages (which is
a kludge).

Some of these aren't valid interwikis, such as radreise-Wiki - Radreise-Wiki, and could be
removed from the configuration file on the server. Others (such as wikipedia:)
are in extensive, active use. There has to be a better way to do this than
listing "Wikipedia" as a language?

That said there is something seriously wrong with this pdf file, it doesn't
display well from the images, and can I can replicate that in English
Wikisource.  I will try to find a file that isn't problematic and demonstrate
at both fiWS and enWS

I tried to create a fudged ns base page, and move that page and the pages
beneath it as subpages. Fail! Just the base  I have deleted the fudge ns base
page.  Might be worthwhile doing it from the system level as otherwise it is
going to take a bot, or manual means to move them one by one.

Currently the only method to open the task explanation contained in the one
step guider on http://toro.wmflabs.org/wiki/Special:GettingStarted is to click
a very very small question mark icon. If possible, we should open the guider on
hovering over the task icon or title as well. If doing so on hover is a pain,
then making the icons/titles clickable would be a good fallback.

It would be useful if there were ways to reuse parts of an existing tour, or to
factor out common parts.

For instance, many "make an edit" tours could have the same structure with only

I think this kind of conditional reviewer-adding is already working with
[[mw:Git/Reviewers]]. I'm not sure this counts as solving the bug, but it works

After a video is finished playing and the creditline div is displayed, it shows
all of the authors of the video and converts any wikitext links in the authors
section into HTML links. The hrefs for all of the links are the same as the
first link, however, regardless of whether they are internal or external links.

I think you're confusing "require" with "autoloading".

The require_once() call you mention:

that isn't a class but an extension file. This is your own code and placed in
your LocalSettings.php, correct?

AutoLoader isn't involved there.

It is hard to get from a gerrit change review page to view a project's files.

To address this, add a (gitweb) link next to the branch name (usually "master")
in the top-left box. It's a lot faster than click the branch name, find it
doesn't help, go back, click project name, click Project > Branches, then click
(gitweb) next to the branch name; and it matches that last step.

The rule of thumb could be "Whenever gerrit presents a branch name, put a
(gitweb) link next to it."


(Change "gitweb" to "gitblit" if we switch git viewers.)

According to Maxmind (our GeoIP database provider) their database now includes
IPv6. I have no idea if we automatically download updates, but if not, we
should update the database and cross our fingers.

Looking at:
{{#tag:ref|general|{{#if:{{{group|}}}|group=g3

I'm pretty sure this parses something like this:

 #tag:ref
   unnamed param 1: resolves to "general"
   unnamed param 2: resolves to "group=g3"

while I'm assuming what you want is something like this:

 #tag:ref
   unnamed param 1: resolves to "general"
   named param "group": resolves to "g3" (if 'group' param is present)

To get that I'm pretty sure you need the literal "blahblah=" in there,
something like:

{{#tag:ref|general|group={{#if:{{{group|}}}|g3}}

This of course will always add a "group" parameter, but sometimes it will be
blank. This may or may not do what you want, naturally.

As part of the AdminTools project, it was identified that allowing centralized
AbuseFilter rules would significantly reduce the workload for stewards.

Code for this was put into AbuseFilter in
Id69a9d603f9679f838e8691c651a3e9d8461b422, and is enabled on an individual wiki
with a config option. Only users with the abusefilter-modify-global permission
can create filters that will be applied globally.

In order to deploy this we will:
* Configure a small set of wikis (test, test2, and mediawiki.org) to use rules
from meta, to verify that there is no significant performance impact.
* Give Stewards the abusefilter-modify-global
* Deploy to further wikis

TBH, to this day I also have absolutely no idea what the domain parameter is.
It's some sort of parameter added in for external authentication modules.

The current system used for new wikisources is to let Proofread Page create
namespaces with ids 250 and 252 using internationalized names sets in
ProofreadPage.namespaces.php in the root folder of the extension with aliases
for the English names (Page and Index). So I've created a patch the add
localized namespaces for fi.wikisource in the extension
https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/48875/ and an other one that remove the
creation from custom namespaces in the configuration:

The list of translatable pages at
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:Translate is now presented in a nicely
designed dynamic view (the shadow effect is lovely!), but unfortunately the
list entries do not contain functional links to those pages.

Tested with current versions of Chromium and Firefox under Ubuntu, and Safari
under Mac OS X. Changing the user language (e.g.
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:Translate?setlang=de ) does not make a
difference either.


(Also, the page is now completely broken when JavaScript is deactivated, but I
guess that requiring JavaScript is intentional and accepted in this case.)

Based on this issue, I have also checked the return values of other Job::run()
functions in the 188 extensions I have on my local machine. Luckily, jobs
aren't used all over the place, so I was only able to locate 3 extensions with
bugs, next to Translate which was already fixed by Niklas in Gerrit 48852.

I reported bug 44960 (AFTv5), bug 44962 (Wikidata) and bug 44963 (TMH).

To minimise damage from incorrect jobs, Aaron and I have also made changes to
job queue:
* Gerrit 48860 treats a non-boolean return value of Job::run() as true
* Gerrit 48858 makes sure MediaWiki starts yelling if a job's run() method does
not return a boolean.

1h11m as time to fix from "issue noticed" to deployment, while the report was
noticed at 22:39 IST isn't bad at all, I think. Thanks to all involved!
