Oh, another detail, perhaps useful: this process seems to bypass the Upload
Wizard's ability to detect that a file is a duplicate. For instance, this
upload resulted from the bug currently under discussion; but ordinarily, an

I have the same problem since I update my extensions.
It happens only if I use Semantic Maps input type googlemaps in a form.
All extensions are up to date.
Maps, Semantic Maps and Validator have the compatible versions.
Don't know what is the reason.

No, that is not why the message key "email" exists. It exists because it is
used in a certain context. Templates should not be used in localization,
because it inhibits translation. It is not counter productive, even though it
may seem to be to you.

("mediawiki extension" is misleading, I really meant workflow/applications).

The contributor tries to add an illustration to the page of a monument, an
organism, a person, an event in a Wikipedia, Wikiversity etc. She or he is
redirected to an upload wizard, which at the end claims that the image has been
added. However, on returning to the context to which the image was tried to be
added, there is no appearance of the image.

From the perspective of the contributor, this is a failure, the image has been
uploaded but disappeared into some strange corner where it "seemingly"
disappeared.

I therefore propose integration of context into the upload wizard and adding a
"new images" section at the bottom of the context (Wikipedia) page, which gives
feedback to image contributors as well as support for page editors accepting or
rejecting these new images into the main article.
