And little bit more. In my case it is maybe just only DNS updating problem. In
my home ip bits.wikimedia.org resolves to  91.198.174.233, 2620:0:862:ed1a::a, 
bits.esams.wikimedia.org.

In .kapsi.fi where everything is working fine bits.wikimedia.org resolves to 
2620:0:861:ed1a::a, 208.80.154.234, bits-lb.eqiad.wikimedia.org

This seems to something like my ongoing Wikipedia/Wikimedia problem. In last 12
hours most of queries to http://bits.wikimedia.org from my home IP are failed,
but not all. However https://bits.wikimedia.org seems to work normally. I also
asked in community portal of fiwiki if wikipedia has been slow and answer was 
it has been worked normally.

Anyway, but yes, that code is quite stale and requires upgrade and testing and
can be enabled on the DOM on the way in.  Not sure if scott is still interested

For on the way in, meta tags are not an issue since.  So, it can already be
applied if we fix the stack space issue.

Special:MovePage now has a namespace dropdown menu, but on certain wikis (such
as the English Wikipedia), I've observed this pattern of behavior:

1. User creates an article draft at "User:John Smith/Turtles and fish".
2. User goes to move the page at Special:MovePage.
3. User removes "John Smith" from the input field, fills in a reason, and then
clicks move page.
4. Page ends up in the wrong location ("User:Turtles and fish").

Alternate scenario:
3. User removes "John Smith" from the input field, selects "Wikipedia" (because
they want to publish their article on Wikipedia, after all, not realizing this
is the site's meta-namespace), fills in a reason, and then clicks move page.
4. Page ends up in the wrong location ("Wikipedia:Turtles and fish").

I'm not sure how to best solve this. My inclination would be to add a
confirmation screen (or use JavaScript) to say "THIS IS WHAT YOUR NEW PAGE
TITLE WILL LOOK LIKE: 'User:Turtles and fish'. OKAY?" I'm not sure this would
help if it read "THIS IS WHAT YOUR NEW PAGE TITLE WILL LOOK LIKE:
'Wikipedia:Turtles and fish'."

This needs further thought.

Yes, that was the original idea. Minimization on the way out is still nice for
round-tripping (and HTML sanity), but on the way in it is actually important
for serialization.

Looks like rsvg's rounding issues are causing problems with the masking. The
svg itself is fine at that size when accurately rendered.

login.wikimedia.org is using

We should then at least try to remove metas and spans in foster-parent position
before they are foster-parented at the client. 

We could also check the foster-parenting behavior of the latest HTML5 library
version. If foster-parenting is fixed there then the template start meta will
already be fostered out before encapsulation, which is both good and bad for
dsr calculations. It would at least give us control about the situation and
avoid client-side foster-parenting and the resulting DOM diff.

Something like foobar *could* be serialized as
''foobar'', but that is not what we are currently doing (and nor
is it very desirable IMO).

Minimization avoids this issue by merging adjacent italic/bold ranges. With it
enabled, the result will be ''foobar''.

Also, selective serialization is thrown off by overlapping source ranges (it
duplicates the nested paragraph source). Not sure if that can be improved on by
forbidding range overlaps in the dsr pass.

Err, then the rectangle would just be a link to the talk page, of course. The
issue is that making a very small piece of text (e.g., the timestamp) the most
important link makes the user experience really painful, particularly on
touchscreen devices.

There is not always a section link available, hence this bug. And so far I like
the idea that the timestamp is the diff link.

Like pull requests on GitHub, Gerrit uses a model where a change can be
proposed before merging it.

However contrary to GitHub, Gerrit also allows a model where changes have to be
proposed and reviewed before merging.

Regular git pushes straight to 'master' are not allowed. Instead you push to
'refs/for/master' (the review queue).

Write now, you decide what is wrong, click on edit and then
search through markup for the word was misspelled or phrase
which needs to be checked. 

  An alternate approach would be to allow someone to mark 
a word with a mouse, right click, choose "edit wiki page"
and then have the computer open the editor AND move
the cursor to the part of the markup relevant to that 
word in the text. It looks through the mark up for you
and saves everyone time.

It was installed  manually last year (presumably by hashar) through `sudo pear`
on gallium.wikimedia.org.

It was meant to be packaged and puppetised but apparently that didn't happen.

It currently runs PHP_CodeSniffer 1.4.3 (stable).

PEAR has made 2 minor releases to PHP_CodeSniffer. Stable is now at 1.4.5.

There's a few bug fixes that I was counting on being there (since it ought to
run on latest stable and not the random version that was latest stable last
year December 2012 when it was first installed).

This is currently blocking a few small deployments with integration.

Requesting ops to maintain status quo and upgrade the package manually for now.

I do not really have anytime right now to have a look at it.  If one wants to
investigate:
- text cache is a Squid on deployment-squid instance
- logs are in /var/log/squid (need to be a project sysadmin to look at them)
- Mediawiki logs written on a NFS server. They can be read by connecting on
deployment-bastion and looking under /data/project/logs.

From there one could look at the debug log or use eval.php via:  mwscript
eval.php --wiki=enwiki

I've told you that we're working on it, and that we won't go "live" for the

Ugly hacks for wikitext like this are one of the exact reasons that cause us to
want everyone to use the VisualEditor.

VisualEditor must be able to handle grouped footnotes ( as discussed here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Footnotes#Grouping_footnotes ) - at least,
not breaking these. It also must be able to handle articles where the text for
footnote is placed in the References section rather than in the body of the
article - see, for example,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pope_Francis#References .
