[Bug 47415] creation of new claims (and perhaps other edits) can be (auto)patrolled on wikidata
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47415 --- Comment #13 from Ariel T. Glenn ar...@wikimedia.org --- So here is (part of) why the situation is different on wikidata than anywhere else. 1) Wikidata actually has more edits/sec than anywhere, including en wp. 2) Almost all of those edits are autopatrolled and wind up in the log. 3) On en wp a much tinier proportion of edits wind up in the log, since they don't use RCPatrol. The number of large projects with RCPatrol on and with lots of bot edits in a short period of time must be, well... one, and that's the one with the issue :-D If we want RCPatrol to scale then we need to rethink the ever-expanding log; even a 30 day retention is better than what we have now. I still claim that bot edits being autopatrolled and then logged is a waste of resources. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l
[Bug 39008] Import old revisions from dump to restore missing revisions
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39008 --- Comment #7 from Ariel T. Glenn ar...@wikimedia.org --- Ughh... so the page ids are different now than they were at the time of the bug report (I checked this on the production db), the old text entries are indeed still there and are obviously orphaned now. If we use the XML file, new text entries wil be created. This isn't awesome, but at least the missing revisions will be back in there. I have no idea how importDump responds to importing revisions for a page where a page with that title exists already; it will silently skip existing revisions however, and that's good for us. If we wanted to try to construct the revision rows with the original text ids, there's a stub dump from around the beginning of June 2012 which would give us the info, and a check of the sql query on bug 37591 shows that there was nothing new since then. [Bug 48742] New: Need a way to turn wikidata item references into wiki links on the client.
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48742 Web browser: --- Bug ID: 48742 Summary: Need a way to turn wikidata item references into wiki links on the client. Product: MediaWiki extensions Version: unspecified Hardware: All OS: All Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: Unprioritized Component: WikidataRepo Assignee: wikidata-b...@lists.wikimedia.org Reporter: daniel.kinz...@wikimedia.de CC: wikidata-b...@lists.wikimedia.org Classification: Unclassified Mobile Platform: --- Let's say Q5 has property P11 which refers to Q23; Q5 is linked to local page Foo and has label Foo, and Q23 is linked to local page The Thing (movie) and has label The Thing. Then, when using on the page Foo, the result should be The Thing (movie), not just The Thing, so this can be used as a link. Perhaps this should be optional: return labels, return titles, or return full links (using titles as the target and labels as the link text). It might be sufficient to cover this with Lua, but as far as I'm aware, this isn't currently possible with Lua either. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

There is a banner for Today's Article For Improvement that is currently populated using a bot and a lot of template style pages with less than optimal code that could greatly be simplified if I could use a :Special:Random/Category:This_weeks_TAFIs to pick a random article from a category for the week. The only extra that I would ask is that the page would be picked on page load instead of clicking on the link so that the link when using the piping trick would show the name of the article it was going to take you to. https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48630 --- Comment #6 from David Chan da...@sheetmusic.org.uk --- To be precise about what should constitute a character, see Grapheme Cluster Boundary Rules from TR29 (http://unicode.org/reports/tr29/) . We probably want to implement these, except insofar as it differs from the browsers' implementations of what constitutes a character for cursoring purposes. The important thing right now is to abstract the code away from assuming single-codepoint characters, so the structure is correct. [Bug 47211] incorrect noun case for 'Month XX' in certain languages
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47211 --- Comment #17 from Mormegil morme...@centrum.cz --- (In reply to comment #14) I do not understand why do you do it so complicate. KISS: Using standard date format works well in all languages for all dates beyond today and yesterday. +1 If you need another kind of date (“date-short”), go ahead. But why should this date format be implemented in a completely different way than the rest?? The choice of genitive/nominative/whatever should be deferred to each language’s $dateFormats just as it is already for the current kinds (cf. MessagesDe.php 'j. F Y' with MessagesCs.php 'j. xg Y'). And the new messages solve nothing. You are not sure whether you should use genitive or nominative, so you split out a new set of classes, which should use… _what_? “1. leden” and “1. ledna” (January 1 in Czech) are both correct, the usage depends on context. And a generic “A date in the Gregorian month of January.” provides nothing. Were these messages specific for the specific usage in Echo, it would not be ideal (why does Echo always need something special?), but at least it would be usable. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48706 --- Comment #3 from Vicente Aguilar vicente.agui...@ext.oami.europa.eu --- Well, that could be it because one of the things I noticed while trying to diagnose this issue and bug 48707 is that we have different charsets and collations on some of our wikis (created at different times with different MW versions, but if the default changes shouldn't it be updated when running update.php? Oh well, that's another issue anyway.) I'll try to unify all our charset/collations when I get the time, it's something I wanted to look into anyway. In any case, if this was really the origin of the duplicates: why sometimes the issue doesn't go away after a SMW_refreshData -ftpv? If I got your reasoning right, the dup gets to the DB the moment someone accesses an article with a different - but equal according to the collation - name. Normally, an article has one specific name so how can it be that I can access an article under two different names unless it is an redirect? No, he means DB collation, the way the DB (not MediaWiki, but mySQL) compares two strings. It has to do with different charsets and different languages, e.g. considering capital and lower case equal or not, removing tildes, etc. All this is configured on a per-table and per-field basis. http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/charset-collation-effect.html -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. That 1st example is about sorting, not comparison. But yes, if MW/SMW is not doing any more checks and is relying only on the DB (which I can't tell, I haven't looked at the code that closely), depending on the collation Bar == bär == BAR. Is that really the cause of this issue? I don't know. [Bug 48706] Duplicated properties
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48706 --- Comment #10 from Alexander Mashin alex.mas...@gmail.com --- No, I don't think so. It's the collation in article title that causes duplication. If you have an article called Müller and set any property has property::value on it and then open http://your.site/wiki/Muller?action=edit and you DB collation treats u and ü as the same (that is, it will not allow to create Muller if there is already Müller) than there will be two of each properties for Müller and Muller and both of them (one red) will appear in any SMW query for those properties ( will give Müller, Muller). You don't even need to change DB collation. Similar artifacts will be observable in MW logs: they will show the name under which the page was accessed (red if different) not stored. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
