Entire set? Even digits? Surely not punctuation, except perhaps hyphen. If you
attach a txt list it's easy; that PDF contains some characters I'm unsure
about.

Do you want the same for linkprefix?

Hi. Thanks for taking the time to file this bug.

Renaming LocalSettings.php requires maintaining at least two files
indefinitely, which clutters the root directory further. It also requires
updating a lot of documentation on MediaWiki.org, which will also likely add to
the confusion people have about which file to edit. I'm not really sure what
"speeds up everything else" even means. And as you point out yourself, calling
the file LocalSettings.php distinguishes it from DefaultSettings.php.

In any case, the real answer here is to largely deprecate the use of
LocalSettings.php (like WordPress' wp-config.php, LocalSettings.php should
ideally only store database credentials and little else). This is the subject
of bug 26992. Perhaps in the process of rewriting the wiki configuration
interface, the file that holds the database credentials can be renamed to
something other than "LocalSettings.php". However, I'd recommend that this
particular bug be marked resolved/wontfix, as I see plenty of disadvantage to
renaming this file and no real advantage.

Since AdminSettings.php was removed in MediaWiki 1.16, there has only been one
-settings.php suffixed script. (Except for DefaultSettings.php, but that
shouldn't even be modified, and it's located in a subfolder.) Therefore, there
is no need to put the "Local-" prefix onto the script. For backward
compatibility, LocalSettings.php should redirect to settings.php or
WikiSettings.php.
The reason why I believe the Local- prefix should be removed is because it's 1.
not consistent with other software's settings script names (so it's easier for
others who have used WordPress, phpBB, vBulletin, xenForo, etc. to find) 2.
doesn't mean anything 3. makes code longer (every time the local- prefix
appears, it adds up!) 4. speeds up everything else 5. clears up possible
confusion and questioning over why it's even called LocalSettings.php.

There is nothing in the Apache access or error logs. After a bit more poking
and prodding, it seems the problem is with Apache and not MediaWiki.

Currently if you add something like {{#property:p1234234234}}, it simply
returns a empty string. (Example:
https://test2.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Germany&diff=53273&oldid=53030)
It would be nice if we could add a tracking category to find these instances.

Same with {{#property:label}}, where no property actually uses the specified
label.

We do have an open bug for possibly making the text color darker (bug 4).

Making the languages bigger is possible.  But I wonder if
UniversalLanguageSelector could provide a better approach than a huge list
(currently it doesn't seem to work logged out).

I think it's hardly clear. I think you disagree with the design direction
taken, but that's not the same thing as a regression. From looking at your
screenshot, I can say that it's as-designed, and that there are no
browser-specific bugs as far as can be told from the screenshot. 

If you have a beef with the design choices made, we can go through those one by
one, but this bug probably isn't the place.

I think I already described this under your blog post on the WMF blog, Steven,
so I'll resort to those two screenshots, which clearly show that the new login
screen is a regression, not an improvement.

The 'old' login screen is much more usable for me as a regular user: the test
for various languages is bigger, it uses a black font instead of a gray one,
and does not leave a lot of empty space for whatever's supposed to be on the
right side of the new login screen.

A definite plus of the new login page is that it provides a link to a help
page, which the old version does not have—though I'm sure it's a matter of
editing some system message, and it shouldn't be too hard to fix.

No, it's not under English Wikipedia control. Little is.

Anyone with a gerrit account can add it to trusted-hosts.txt

A more limited group of people have the rights to approve and that change

And an even much limited group can merge that to the deployment branch, update
the code on the cluster...

What browser are you using? Please file any and all bugs you want for
browser-specific flaws, and we'll do our best to address them. You'll need to
be more specific and constructive than "crappy". 

Maintaing multiple sets of i18n messages and styles forever is not something
we're going to do. When the use of the version gated behind a URL parameter was
submitted, we specifically committed to not leaving two forms in one codebase
forever. Reviewers rightfully pointed out it is a messy, hackish approach to a
redesign, and we only did it so that critical bugs and i18n issues could be
tested in production pre-launch as the default.

Two "no"s in a row there, and I'm unsure whether the second no is another "no"
to me or if it's a "no" to the first "no".

Who has the power to update trusted-hosts.txt, rebuild the CDB, and push it to
a cluster. Is that under English Wikipedia control, or is it under centralized
control?

Adding type/reason would be a wonderful future enhancement. I know how
difficult it must be to accurately parse the block log, but knowing the

At the campaign-configuration you can specify a second identifier similar to
the first one, url-parameter is 'id2'. In some cases the second identifier
should be optional, ie: WLPA-object can be simultaneity protected or not. We
offer a prefilled link with either one ID (the WLPA-ID) or two of them (the
listed object-ID). At the first case the second identifier is marked as
required (red star), but it doesn't act so (you can still upload without it). 

So in my opinion the best way would be: add a checkbox to
Special:UploadCampaign labeld like 'second ID optional'. If checked remove red
star and let the field act as an optional field, if unchecked show the red star
and let the field act like a required field.

Sure.  I probably won't touch those parts.  I think a MultiUpload page - that
is, an interface like Special:Upload but with several copies of the upload-file
interface on a single page - can be done using a SpecialPage object that
derives from SpecialUpload and a list of objects of SpecialUploadOneFile class
that also derives from SpecialUpload - if some of SpecialUpload's functions are
split so they can be selectively replaced in the subclasses.  This is a kind of
odd design, but would allow it to use Special:Upload's code with almost no
duplication while making minimal changes to MW core.  Some similar splitting
would also need to happen in the javascript, and a more general factory
function for UploadBase.

Bug in Firefox 21

The described problem is slight different for me (Firefox 21)

When inserting a new line and then deleting it, the paragraph is swapped with
the next one.

Although both paragraphs are still present on the visual editor, the edit diff
shows that the first one has been removed.

Confirmed:

1: Upload a batch of 2 images using UW
2: In the details step, add two categories to the first upload
3: Remove the text that you entered into those textboxes.
4: Choose the "Copy information to all uploads below ..." section at the bottom
of the first upload
5: Check at least "Copy categories"
6: Press the copy button
7: The 2nd file will receive two categories, with the text that you have
previously entered.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Go to https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/API:Alltransclusions
2. Insert a blank line after the first paragraph.
3. Use the Del key (not backspace) to delete that line.

Rather than deleting the line, the first keypress (sometimes) does nothing. And
then the second keypress finally gets rid of the newline, but attempting to
save the page shows a diff with the newline still added.

Hello! There are many issues about /examine and /test in the Abusefilter
extension at Thai Wikipedia.

1) It shows Wikidata changes in both /test and /examine. Surely, Abusefilter
can't prevent edits at Wikidata from local (Wikipedia) sites. So these changes
shouldn't be listed.

2) Both /examine and /test don't show upload entry, while they show account
creation and move entry normally. The actual abusefilter can detect and prevent
upload action, though. It seems that this bug is like [[18096]].

3) I don't know if there is a way to access text in file page (that is
description and license info) from action=upload. There's one who mentioned
this feature in [[18096]] but I don't know whether it have implemented.

Resolving as FIXED. There is a functional proof of concept and some precedents.
There is a process to request new repos to be added. And there might be bugs,

This is reproducible.

Actually, I remember that brion once fixed this for the 'conventional' wikis.

resources//mediawiki.special/mediawiki.special.upload.js: uses
mw.libs.jpegmeta( data, file.fileName ); to retrieve the info and Canvas to
rotate the thumbnail if required.

It's fixed on master. As soon as someone deploys it to the cluster, it will be

This should never happen, I guess:

Result: Translated page (the /de sub-page) was listed at
[[Special:PageTranslation]]

We are encountering this problem on the Guild Wars 2 Wiki
(http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Special:Version MW 1.20.5 / SMW 1.8.0.4).  The
servers are owned and administered by ArenaNet, so I don't know all the
details, but I know they are running a master/slave database configuration and
a Varnish cache (also don't know whether that matters or not).

When a page is moved with redirect, its properties are all duplicated. 
Deleting the redirect does nothing, but deleting the page and restoring it (or
editing the page to remove the properties and then reverting) will rebuild the
properties correctly.
