Case use: mirror a wiki page on an applicative intranet. The links to edit
works fine, but images won't show.

10 years ago, as a workaround in such situations, there were the possibility to
put several base href, before and after the content with the IE and Opera, but
now the browsers follow the recommendation and take in consideration only the
first href and the first target value encountered.

If an individual community wants to disagree with the MediaWiki default, then
they can customize it like English Wikipedia has. This should not be changed in

Just to explain:

This request is easy, except for the desire to have the VisualEditor tab
labelled "Editor Visual BETA". It is not currently possible to label
the VisualEditor tab differently from the regular "Edit" tab (other than the
appending of a BETA suffix), this would appear to require an alteration to the
VisualEditor software itself.

The remaining three points of the request can be fulfilled easily, I think.

 CC||pleasest...@live.com

--- Comment #47 from Kevin Israel (PleaseStand) ---
I reviewed the patch against what I understood to be the agreed-upon sequence
and found a few issues, which I noted.

As for the sequence itself, consider for example:

wgLang = fit (fallbacks fi, en)
wgContLang = fi (fallback en)

10: DB/fit
20: CDB/fit (if DB missing)
30: DB/fi
40: CDB/fi (if DB missing)
50: DB/en
60: CDB/en (if DB missing)
70: DB
80: false (site language and all fallbacks already checked)

It doesn't seem right that if DB were created, then DB/en as a translation of
DB, that DB/en would override DB. It shouldn't be necessary to duplicate DB at
DB/fi.

So perhaps it would make sense to add a "25: DB": if DB/fi is in the sequence,
then DB would be checked immediately beforehand.

With Gerrit change 107988, ActiveUsers is only registered as a special page
when $wgMiserMode == false.

This means that when a MiserMode wiki is upgraded to a MediaWiki version that
includes this change, Special:ActiveUsers will not be recognised as a special
page, and any links to it will become a redlink.

Instead we should show a message such as "This special page is disabled".

Maybe not needed, when the old behaviour (no login required) is restored, see

Before gerrit 94406 it was possible to confirm a email code without the need of
login to (any) user account. This was changed and produced bug 60433.

In my opinion the old behaviour should be restored.

If not, the logged in user should be checked against the user which gets
confirmed, because that can differ at the moment.

When clicking on the link to Special:Confirmemail in the email, the user goes
to a page, which requires the login, if the user is not loggedin the error text
'confirmemail_needlogin' provides a link to Special:Userlogin, but that link
lost the confirm code, which was passed as subpage part.

After the login the user goes back to the special page without code and gets
the button the request a code instead of the confirm text.

The login link in 'confirmemail_needlogin' needs to pass the code to avoid this
situation.

Works when using the 'normal' login link in the right top corner.

I would love to volunteer WikiApiary to help with this effort. We already have
an index of 3,876 extensions on 8,373 websites. I've got a program that will do
"basket analysis" of extensions to determined most commonly installed next to
each other. I’m now pulling in license information and allow connecting to
Composer packages. Extensions already can be tagged. I would love to be able to
vote on them, but there is no great voting extension for MediaWiki that fits
this use case.

https://wikiapiary.com/wiki/Extension:Main_Page

I'd be happy to host bots that analyze this data, store cumulative information
and then feed it via bot into MediaWiki.org.

All of this data is already completely exposed via the Semantic MediaWiki Ask
API.

Regarding the first aspect, I didn't look for a reason, but the pages are
protected currently, and I see no reason not to transfer that setting that has
been enabled for years; if we found some time in the future that this was a
mistake or just unnecessary, it would take a couple of clicks to unprotect
them.

Regarding the second aspect, this bug is "part" of the mother bug 60220. It's
a small, actionable item with clear dependencies so that it is not missed in a
gush of text and comments. Its topic isn't protecting pages on a wiki, but
preserving the protection status as part of the migration.

Just noting that I recently had this bug show up when querying values that are
set by Semantic Extra Special Properties. Specifically the page has multiple
Creation date values.

I only share this as I figure these properties are created via a different code
path. Although, it still points the finger at SQL Store 3.

1. Review all the strings you haven't translated yourself.

2. Click the "Unreviewed tab"

3. You get this message:

Nothing new to review
You can help providing new translations
You can review translations already reviewed by others

4. Click the latter. A list of results appears.

EXPECTED

I can review translations already reviewed by others.

ACTUALLY

No, I can't, because I have already reviewed all of them.

This means that the string "You can review translations already reviewed by
others" doesn't actually check whether you really can or cannot. This is ok in
big multilingual sites like translatewiki.net or mediawiki.org, where it is
very likely that you will always have strings to review, but in smallers sites
it is easier that dedicated reviewers are actually up to date with pending
work.

--- Comment #1 from Kunal Mehta (Legoktm) ---
I thought about this a bit more, and realized that the rationale in bug 25000
is only about account creation.
What if we had a config variable like $wgThrottlesToOverride = array(
'actcreate' ) so they wouldn't need to be hardcoded, and the UI would become
less cluttered (IMO).
It would also solve the issue of not being able to override extensions'
throttles.

Factor the Scribunto integration out of Wikidata Client into an own extension.
This is not urgent but should be done sometime to get the bogus dependencies
against Scribunto straight.

This is a grammar fix.

In many locations in this extension, the noun "login" is used as a verb. It
needs to be changed to the verb phrase "log in". Examples:

MediaWiki:mobile-frontend-donate-image-login-action (Login to share your
media.)
MediaWiki:mobile-frontend-edit-login-action (Login to edit.)
MediaWiki:mobile-frontend-generic-login-action (Login to contribute.)
MediaWiki:mobile-frontend-photo-upload-anon (Please login to add an image to
this page.)
MediaWiki:mobile-frontend-user-cta (Please login or sign up to see your
notifications.)
MediaWiki:mobile-frontend-watchlist-cta-button-login (Login)
MediaWiki:mobile-frontend-watchlist-login-action (Login to see it.)

There's a bug with condition limits (which we AFAIS don't have in Bugzilla)
which blocks that for now, but we certainly plan to do that in the near future.

I cannot seem to reproduce this. I ran the following code:

$x = new WantedTemplatesPage;
$info = $x->getQueryInfo();
$db = DatabaseBase::factory( 'postgres' );
echo $db->selectSQLText($info['tables'], $info['fields'], $info['conds'], '',
$info['options'], $info['join_conds']);

And it outputs the same exact SQL, except with different quotes, as in comment
3's MySQL (i.e., it outputs the correct SQL). I've tested this both on master
and in 1.22.1 (the indicated version).

[Bug 52061] Merge Poem extension into MediaWiki core

2014-01-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52061

--- Comment #30 from C. Scott Ananian  ---
Regarding my use of "indent-pre" above -- I'm looking at this mostly from the
perspective of parser maintenance. As [[testwiki:bug 52061]] demonstrates, the
desired behavior of / is the same as the existing behavior of
'indent-pre', although the implementation in the original patch was very
different. I would like to try to avoid adding a bunch of new hair (and crazy
interactions) with the new feature, and instead try to reuse the existing
indent-pre handling code so that all the corner cases were consistent.

In fact, assuming this gets merged, it might be cleaner in the future to
document the "indent pre" behavior as "an implicit surrounding the
indented region". This would reduce confusion because "indent pre" and ""
are actually quite different in their handling of embedded wikitext, etc.

I like the name , btw.
