[Bug 67805] Local versions of system messages are ignored
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67805 Niklas Laxström niklas.laxst...@gmail.com changed: What|Removed |Added CC||ro...@wikimedia.org --- Comment #9 from Niklas Laxström niklas.laxst...@gmail.com --- I have made multiple observations: 1) Typing unicode to mwscript eval.php does not work in WMF 2) This particular message has existed in uk.json since April 3) Other messages in the same file seem to work on random testing 4) MessageCache thinks the message does not exist: mwscript maintenance/eval.php --wiki=ukwiki var_dump( MessageCache::singleton()-getMsgFromNamespace( 'Visualeditor-ca-editsource', 'uk' ) ); bool(false) Because of 1) I was not able to test whether calling MessageCache::replace would have fixed that. 5) MessageCache can find the message if instructed manually to load messages directly from the database: mwscript maintenance/eval.php --wiki=ukwiki var_dump( MessageCache::singleton()-loadFromDB( 'uk' ) ); .. [Visualeditor-ca-editsource]= string(28) Редагувати код .. 6) Localisation cache returns the ru version: var_dump( $wgLang-getLocalisationCache()-getSubItem( 'uk', 'messages', 'visualeditor-ca-editsource' ) ); string(33) Править викитекст 7) I cannot reproduce this issue locally 8) LC issue is possibly caused by incorrect fallback merging, because L10nupdate contains update for ru, but not for uk (because the translation is already up to date for uk): nikerabbit@tin:/var/lib/l10nupdate/cache-1.24wmf12$ grep visualeditor-ca-editsource *-ru.* *-uk.* Binary file l10n_cache-ru.cdb matches l10nupdate-ru.json:visualeditor-ca-editsource: Править викитекст, l10nupdate-ru.json:visualeditor-ca-editsource-section: править викитекст, Binary file l10n_cache-uk.cdb matches 9) Something fishy with message cache: mwscript maintenance/eval.php --wiki=ukwiki var_dump( MessageCache::singleton() ); object(MessageCache)#108 (8) { ... [mDisable:protected]= bool(false) .. } mwscript maintenance/eval.php --wiki=ukwiki var_dump( MessageCache::singleton()-getAllMessageKeys( 'uk' ) ); NULL var_dump( MessageCache::singleton()-load( 'uk' ) ); bool(true) var_dump( MessageCache::singleton() ); object(MessageCache)#108 (8) { [mCache:protected]= bool(false) [mDisable:protected]= bool(true) .. [mLoadedLanguages:protected]= array(0) { } .. } My conclusions so far are that there seems to be at least two separate issues here: I) MessageCache is failing to load its cache II) Localisation cache returns ru when uk exists III) (bonus) Unicode does not work on eval.php at WMF For I) I would like other people to inspect why that is happening. For II) My observation in 8 is a good starting point for my investigations for someone else while I continue my vacation. This might be specific to the way WMF runs l10n update. For III) It would be nice for someone to file a separate bug. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 55557] OOjs: Mixin doesn't work properly with inherited classes
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7 Krinkle krinklem...@gmail.com changed: What|Removed |Added Status|ASSIGNED|RESOLVED Resolution|--- |INVALID --- Comment #1 from Krinkle krinklem...@gmail.com --- This is by design. Mixing in a class only copies over own properties. Not inherited properties. JavaScript can't have an object inherit from multiple parents. We have the convention to not alter mixins once defined. So copying over one is fine. But the parent of a mixin, I'm not so sure (and we'd have to distinguish it from any prototypes in the chain we don't want to copy manually, such as Function prototype and Object prototype). If the sub mixin doesn't care about live inheritance (and it can't care, because mixins can't be live since they always copy over), then the sub mixin should just use 'mixin' for its 'parent' not 'inherit'. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

[Bug 67477] 300GB of files on a hard disk in need of a URI or WMF direct upload
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67477 --- Comment #8 from Fæ fae...@gmail.com --- Sam et al; I'm in London (UK) as are the Wellcome group I'm dealing with. A contact and address would be timely now, can someone decide how that will work? The Wellcome expect to have the disk ready on the 14th, so if it could get to Ops and uploaded a week later, I might have a chance to get the uploads underway or even complete before Wikimania. I'm presuming that the files can be uploaded and available as a virtual disk that the GWToolset can treat as a set of URLs to generate the Commons image pages. The files will be as the example attached previously. I also have a test set of 700 locally so that I can get ready for the actual run. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. So it should not happen in the default state. It is expected that when the root we use is disabled or deleted then one gets a warning or error. I suspect that happened on that computer. You could check if the root is there under (from Chromium on Linux, hope this is similar for Chrome on Windows) Settings - HTTPS/SSL: Manage certificates - Authorities: Digicert Inc: DigiCert High Assurance EV Root CA. It should not say untrusted next to it and when you click the edit button Trust this certificate for identifying websites. should be checked. (Most likely that was unchecked by another user.) Pelletier m...@uberbox.org --- Ah, there's clearly something stupid in the way the query is planned, because: select * FROM commonswiki_f_p.image where img_name in('Icon_tools.svg', 'Qsicon_Fokus2.svg'); instead of the third statement returns: 1 row in set (0.00 sec) which is as expected, and the planner explains that when doing your third query it is specifically _not_ using a key(!) Likewise: select * FROM commonswiki_f_p.image where img_name in(select it from DF_temp); times out (explain shows no index used). Where the problem lies might be in that the query planner somehow things there are no rows in the federated table. For that matter, even forcing the index fails to use it: select img_bits FROM DF_temp inner JOIN commonswiki_f_p.image force index (primary) ON it=img_name; also times out. I thought about some super-duper OpenStackManager UI where you could specify the partitioning and during reboots OpenStack would shuffle the files and volumes accordingly, so that you always have a clean system, when Yuvi pointed out a far superior solution: If we increase the size of the default /var partition by (for Tools, other projects may need more) 2 GByte, we wouldn't have to think about all that complex stuff, because (at Tools) /var/log is usually less than 2 GBytes big. With the same step, we might want to set up a separate /tmp partition (could be even ramdisk) to avoid the problems of people filling that up as well. This will require a bit of disk space at virt*, and it will not solve all partitioning needs there are at Labs, but I think it is a quick solution for 90 % that could last a long time. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. This of course means an unstyled site which is not very usable. :D I can actually save the garbled file to disk and gunzip it from there... Doesn't seem to be browser cache, I can repro it on a second machine or by changing URL. Sometimes clears up if I manually remove or rearrange some modules from the query string, but other times it gives me a different, but still extra-zipped, data set. Safari's debugger indicates the file is marked as gzipped, so it seems to be double-gzipped rather than missing the header. Interestingly, Content-Encoding header says gzip, gzip. [Bug 67477] 300GB of files on a hard disk in need of a URI or WMF direct upload
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67477 --- Comment #10 from Bawolff (Brian Wolff) bawolff...@gmail.com --- (In reply to Fæ from comment #8) The Wellcome expect to have the disk ready on the 14th, so if it could get to Ops and uploaded a week later, I might have a chance to get the uploads underway or even complete before Wikimania. I'm presuming that the files can be uploaded and available as a virtual disk that the GWToolset can treat as a set of URLs to generate the Commons image pages. I would presume such an upload would use importImages.php (would require all uploads on the disk to be accompinied by a .txt file which has wikitext for what should go on the image page.) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 67477] 300GB of files on a hard disk in need of a URI or WMF direct upload
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67477 --- Comment #11 from Fæ fae...@gmail.com --- It really would be better done independent of the image pages being generated. This is just an upload of a several numbered directories full of files. I do not know the contents of the disk in advance, and if this is to be a GWToolkit upload (which is what we really want), then the idea is to to host the files somewhere on a WMF server so that I can generate an xml file (using their listing) which includes URLs to the internal files and supplies the metadata from the Wellcome catalog which is correlated to template parameters. If there is some reason that the files cannot be uploaded to a (temporary) folder on a server without creating all the Commons pages at the same time, then I could generate a special text file (or text files for every image, which I presume is what would be needed for 'importImages.php'), but this means I need to receive the Wellcome disk first at home and hold on to it for (probably) a couple of weeks (as it requires a bit more non-standard fiddling about), before posting the reworked disk to the WMF myself. Less ideal, as I doubt that I could have much of the batch upload done in advance of Wikimania. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 67926] Replace role::labs::lvm::biglogs with increasing the default /var partition
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67926 --- Comment #1 from Marc A. Pelletier m...@uberbox.org --- This is definitely the wrong solution; doing it this /at best/ simply delays the problem and fixes absolutely nothing. Anything that stuff things into /var/log needs to be careful about proper log rotation regardless of whether there are 2G or 100G available. Being able to specify the size of an LVM volume at creation time would be fine, so would fixing the class to be smarter about pivoting the mountpoints when it gets applied the first time; but any fixed partitioning scheme in the image is doomed to fail. (Also, /tmp in ram is a very bad idea on physical hardware as it makes it trivial for memory to end up exhausted - on virtual hardware it increases the memory footprint at the detriment of performance of every VM which is even worse). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
