Added support for iOS Safari and IE 9 in latest patch set. (IE 9 uses the Flash
build of the decoder.)

Note TMH's JS doesn't load in MobileFrontend yet -- currently iOS playback is
only in desktop view.

Some more remaining known issues outlined in the commit message on the patch
set.

[Bug 20476] Split suppressrevision in two distinct permissions : the first one to oversight content, and the other one to review oversighted content

(Requested by Legoktm here)

I feel like the patch is not what the bug is asking for. The bug asks for the
actions themselves to be separated, not for one to imply the other.

I feel like one right implying another simply loses flexibility over having two
mutually discrete rights - this is the case with CheckUser, for example.

I forgot to move pages with prefix "H:" to "Help:", though, and that makes

should I do next to delete these pages from main namespace?

The page you are trying to print is:

The content you are getting is:
https://eo.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Headings_VisualEditor_Test&oldid=11

That is, the PDF renderer is misconfigured on eo.beta and is requesting pages
from eowiki instead. It is communicating its request by page id... with the
surprising results you have noted.

But ultimately this is an eo.wiki misconfiguration. Note that
http://eo.wikipedia.beta.wmflabs.org/wiki/Headings_VisualEditor_Test?veaction=edit

The url() function in CSS is perfectly valid as long as there's not a
"javascript:" psuedo-schema in it that executes code. There are plenty of
legimate cases where the url() function might be useful/necessary that are
currently forbidden by the Sanitizer because it is overly generic.

Maybe a better fix to this problem, instead of pulling out the regex to be
possibly overridden/reset/unset by an admin, is to make sure the string
"javascript:" does not appear it in.

I think any exceptions to CSS sanitization should be specific to the use case.
I don't think we should expose a regex, since that is an implementation detail
internal to Sanitizer, which may change in the future. I don't think it's
secure to generally allow url() pointing to any page on a domain, since url()
can be used for scary non-image things, like the behavior property.

I'm not sure I see how making this entire thing a configuration variable is a
good thing. Security should not be configurable.

Another big reason why url() is forbidden is to avoid cross-domain requests
being made from a wiki page (especially with regards to CSRF, DDOS, traffic
sniffing, privacy policy etc.).

When additional security issues are found and added to MediaWiki, existing
installs that customised this filter for some silly feature, will no longer be
using adequate security measures.

I recommend this feature be reverted and we figure out a way to enable this
other use of url() in a sane way. Whether we want that way to be allowed always
or behind an opt-in flag is a separate question, but I don't think there is
valid use case for making the entire thing configurable. That only complicates
maintenance, security updates, and overall mobility of wikitext between sites.

As of I0f8b36d47, we provision a jobrunner service that processes jobs of all

There are higher-priority bugs to resolve at the moment, but I think it would
be worthwhile to try and reproduce it and figure out exactly what is going on.

 11 /bin/false
 18 /bin/sh
  1 /bin/sync
  2 /usr/sbin/nologin

None of the 11 users with /bin/false shells are in ldap. They all come from the
local password file.

loginShell: /usr/local/bin/sillyshell

$ getent passwd bd808
bd808:x:3518:500:BryanDavis:/home/bd808:/bin/bash

So loginShell in ldap does not seem to be the source of the shell for a user.
The string "bash" does not appear in ldapsearch output for my user. Magic?

visited"
   Product: MediaWiki
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: Unprioritized
 Component: Watchlist
  Assignee: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
  Reporter: spinningspark.w...@gmail.com
   Web browser: ---
   Mobile Platform: ---

Per suggestion at Bug 36763. Add a button for "Mark all revisions of this page
visited" on the history page. It is frequently unnecessary to actually open
the page to decide if any action is needed but the page still needs to be
opened to clear the highlighting. Sometimes it is clear that no action is
needed from the edit summary or the name of the editor who made the change.

[Bug 42325] prevent creation of items having the same sitelinks

While it would be nice if Wikidata prevented this, the more important issue
(and much simpler) is fixing the bug in the bot which created two identical
items.

My guess is the bot is running multiple threads and they are not coordinated,
and probably even competing with each other.

Adding the excellent Noto collection? (Sponsored by Google and Adobe, but
completely free fonts, under Apache Licence 2.0).

http://www.google.com/get/noto/

No more tofu, that whole collection can be a default base collection working in
stead of fallback fonts showing very little information.

The collection is high quality, fully hinted, with metrics adjusted for correct
display in pages using ultiple scripts ? Some scripts are available in two
styles.

Almost all world scripts are supported (most modern scripts, including Burmese
for which good fonts are very scarse or bugged). All Indian scripts are
covered, and most scripts for Eastern Asia.

Now it also supports the full CJK repertoire (with 4 linguistic variants, with
7 weights !). Full support of OpenType required features for each scripts)

Full support of Arabic script (both major styles).

There are only 2 missing modern scripts : Tibetan, Thaana for Divehi/Maldivian
(but work is in progress, with some issues in OpenType tables to discuss and
fix). Many historic scripts are covered. Most new scripts created in the last
50 years (for languages that were still not written, notably in Africa) are
covered, including experimental ones (like Deseret).

The goal of the collection is the full repertoire of Unicode (almost all
Unicode 7.0 is covered), including musical symbols, technical symbols, weather
and games symbols, emojis (soon color emojis too)...

[Bug 42325] prevent creation of items having the same sitelinks

2014-07-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42325

Sadly this still occurs on the site if bots submit the same new item twice
during a very small time span.

For example:
https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q17294561&action=history
and https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q17294560&action=history

In this case both items were created within the same second... I'm not sure how
to fix these problem. The only possible fix I can think of right now is to
build a create-lock mechanism that uses memcached during entity creation, but
that's going to be a lot of work for an ugly solution.

This is non-trivial technically as the URL to the original file might not be
immediately available. Maybe we could delay showing the icon until we have the
link; not sure if that's more or less awkward than the current solution.

[Bug 68196] New: HHVM crash loading San Francisco page

2014-07-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68196

Bug ID: 68196
Summary: HHVM crash loading San Francisco page
   Product: MediaWiki extensions
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: Unprioritized
 Component: Scribunto

  Reporter: bsimm...@fb.com
CC: bjor...@wikimedia.org, tstarl...@wikimedia.org,
vasi...@gmail.com
   Web browser: ---
   Mobile Platform: ---

I'm not 100% sure this is a bug in the Lua extension but all signals are
pointing at it.

Repro steps: Make sure the vps is running a Debug HHVM, then load
http://hhvm.256.io/wiki/San_Francisco?action=purge. You'll get a 503 and HHVM
will crash with: hhvm: .../hphp/runtime/vm/jit/unwind-x64.cpp:161:
_Unwind_Reason_Code HPHP::JIT::{anonymous}::tc_unwind_personality(int,
_Unwind_Action, uint64_t, _Unwind_Exception*, _Unwind_Context*): Assertion
`status == 0' failed.

Commenting out Scribunto in LoadExtensions.php makes the crash go away, and the
page renders with some broken templates as expected. I've done some tracing in
HHVM and it looks like this could be related to an exception being thrown out
of the extension. This log of unwinding activity right before the crash may
point to some relevant functions: http://pastebin.com/BkNguanT
