That will probably workaround it, but the underlying problem seemed to be bug

--- Comment #10 from Matthew Flaschen  ---
(In reply to Isarra from comment #9)
> Sure, the colour-coded buttons according to their function are nice, but not
> everyone cares.

And yet someone complained about *not* having them at bug 47698 (see also bug
4, where this was brought up again and the colors were added to
non-Vector), because the alternative was gray.

Bear in mind that "no MW UI styles" at all may not always do what you want.
For example Special:UserLogin has a "Join $SITENAME" button. However, it's
really just a styled link, so if it's completely unstyled it will look like a
link.

So rather than debate between "no MW UI styles" and "current MW UI styles" for
e.g. FooSkin, I'd rather support people who want to make appropriate styles for
FooSkin (unless there's a broad consensus that FooSkin should have either "no
MW UI styles" or "current MW UI styles"; honestly not many people have voiced
opinion on which of the three).

> Is there any documentation on how to do that, or use the underlying
> framework? From where I'm standing it looks like the only option is to
> manually override all the styles, and when they keep changing and getting
> more complex, that's pretty horrible.

The basic tool is
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:$wgResourceModuleSkinStyles , along with
the discussion above about whether you're augmenting or replacing styles (that
is important re what I said about 'default').

Importantly, there are also mixins at
https://git.wikimedia.org/tree/mediawiki%2Fcore.git/e2e6f7767ef58659904422c36d390c230b59852f/resources%2Fsrc%2Fmediawiki.less
which you can use (note the mediawiki.less/mediawiki.ui directory, which has
mixins and variables). These can be imported with e.g.:

@import "mediawiki.ui/variables";

--- Comment #1 from John Mark Vandenberg ---
I can reproduce this with a custom family file I created for ofswiki (thank you
for reporting which wiki this occurred on)

The core problem is that httplib2
complains about this.

$ python
>>> import httplib2
>>> httplib2.__version__
'0.9'
>>> httplib2.Http().request('https://ofswiki.org/')
Traceback (most recent call last):

host ofswiki.org: {'notAfter': 'May 23 20:21:24 2015 GMT', 'subjectAltName':

(('commonName', u'www.iankelling.org'),), (('emailAddress',
u'REDACTED-AT-iankelling.org'),))}

compare that with httplib2.Http().request('https://en.wikipedia.org/')

And this works like a charm:

>>> httplib2.Http(disable_ssl_certificate_validation=True).request('https://ofswiki.org/')

The fact that it only checks the SSL certificate once is reported here:

https://github.com/jcgregorio/httplib2/issues/243

I cant quickly see an issue related to the certificate problem you are
experiencing.

Good, thank you! You can remove the line for "Most recent updates" in "Age of

Maybe this is something temporary, but TorBlock appears as #1 when (according

--- Comment #6 from Matthew Flaschen  ---
Deploying a new select box control everywhere will be complex.

It can't be done with just "normal" styling and the standard element (e.g.
) like textboxes were. I'm pretty sure it can't be done with even
tricky styling like the checkboxes (CPB doesn't use + tricky styling,
but a nested structure with multiple elements per option, built around ).

Also, CPB doesn't have to deal with the issue of actually submitting a
control.  Although it's an drop-down, you don't actually submit a form; you're
just clicking a well-styled link.

Other drop downs/lists in core (the preferences and special pages you
mentioned) do have to submit.

Thus, I don't think it should block setting the global to true.

In "Age of unreviewed changesets by affiliation" at
http://korma.wmflabs.org/browser/gerrit_review_queue.html, the popup window
shows the number of patches counted in the median for each affiliation.
However, many of the numbers provided are negative, which doesn't make any
sense.

I had already reported via email that those numbers looked very low considering
the amount of changesets uploaded every month. This was when the numbers were
still positive. Seeing negative values suggests that there is indeed something
wrong there.

OOjs-UI has some addEventListener calls (and removeEventListener), so it's
probably one of these.

Short term solution: Temporarily revert
https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/150086/ to explicitly blacklist IE8 again.
Long term solution: Replace the remaining addEventListener calls in oojs-ui
with $.on(), and hope that it works acceptably in IE8, too.

What is the bug?

The catimages code is:

try:
import Image# classic 'PIL'
except ImportError:
from PIL import Image # new 'PIL' fork 'Pillow' (fedora 19)

http://git.wikimedia.org/commit/pywikibot%2Fcompat.git/5dc246cd5f17aea47383de4e599977bfa3d37a07

I think compat tries to automatically install every dependency, so this bug
might be that PIL/Pillow needs to be added to externals/__init__.py

Or, it could provide a nice error message if it failed to find the package
after two imports.

Also it isnt not documented at
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Pywikibot/Installation#Dependencies

[Bug 70553] MV broken in Internet Explorer 8 on WMF sites

--- Comment #6 from Gilles Dubuc  ---
Fixing the addEventListener (which I'm about to do) is far from sufficient for
MV to work in IE8. Right off the bat, MV uses SVG icons, and IE8 can't display
them without a plugin. Then I'm not sure that OOUI fully supports IE8 yet,
which MV needs for "use this file".

IMHO the easiest thing to do is to go back to the status quo before our feature
check got polyfilled without us realizing: find another feature check (SVG
support, if that's event possible?) that will make IE8 not run MV.

Did it work previously? i.e. has the python package mwlib been uninstalled
recently?

Are you able to create a virtualenv on wmflabs and install mwlib in it?

$ [your_ve/bin/]pip install mwlib

(see

In Chrome and Internet Explorer it is perfectly possible to click repeatedly on

top, but you can also place the pointer exactly between the two words and get
the same result) the pointer won't change.

How complex would it be to compute "Date of submission of open changesets" by
the date of the last upload, instead of the initial upload? If it's not too
complicated, the data based on last upload would be more useful, because we
could clearly see the old stuff that is there, just rotting.

[Bug 57159] Flow: syntax highlighting doesn't work

Flow needs 2 things here. When rendering the original page, it needs to pick up
the resources and add them into the parser output, so they end up on the head.
Additionally, they need to be transferred in api results, preferably similar to
how action=parse does it for prop=modules.

This is probably closely related to bug 67540:

And specifically you might want to look at one of it's blockers:
Bug 51245, bug 58388 and bug 67515 which detail similar problems for VE..

I can't reproduce this, the variables are all sane for me.

This page title without namespace is 253 bytes, which is just within the limit.
I wonder why the links break.

[Bug 70083] configuration problems with windows paths with blanks/spaces

2014-09-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70083

--- Comment #5 from carcha...@arcor.de ---
Here some extracted lines from debuggin:
I used the following in LocalSettings.php

error_reporting( -1 );
ini_set( 'display_errors', 1 );
$wgShowExceptionDetails = true;
$wgDebugToolbar = true;
$wgDebugLogFile = 'MYPATH/MYDEBUGLOGTEXTFILENAME';

wfShellExec: "C:\Program Files\xpdf\bin64\pdfinfo.exe" -enc UTF-8  -l 999
-meta "C:\PHP\temp\phpDC.tmp"
PdfImage::retrieveMetaData: "C:\Program Files\xpdf\bin64\pdftotext.exe"
"C:\PHP\temp\phpDC.tmp" -
wfShellExec: "C:\Program Files\xpdf\bin64\pdftotext.exe"
"C:\PHP\temp\phpDC.tmp" -
wfShellExec: "C:\Program Files\xpdf\bin64\pdfinfo.exe" -enc UTF-8  -l 999
-meta "C:\PHP\temp\phpDC.tmp"
PdfImage::retrieveMetaData: "C:\Program Files\xpdf\bin64\pdftotext.exe"
"C:\PHP\temp\phpDC.tmp" -
wfShellExec: "C:\Program Files\xpdf\bin64\pdftotext.exe"
"C:\PHP\temp\phpDC.tmp" -

There is no "doTransform" within the logfile.

I tried to execute "C:\Program Files\xpdf\bin64\pdftotext.exe" (without quotes)
in command prompt and the result somehow crazy. Windows can't execute it,
rising the same error as in Comment 1.

Der Befehl "C:\Program" ist entweder falsch geschrieben oder konnte nicht
gefunden werden

Using quotes arround "Program Files" in commandprompt works. So I tried this in
LocalSettings.php

C:\"Program Files"\xpdf\bin64\pdftotext.exe

Getting this in my Logfile

wfShellExec: "C:\\\"Program Files\"\xpdf\bin64\pdfinfo.exe" -enc UTF-8  -l
999  -meta "C:\PHP\temp\phpDD.tmp"
PdfImage::retrieveMetaData: "C:\\\"Program Files\"\xpdf\bin64\pdftotext.exe"
"C:\PHP\temp\phpDD.tmp" -
wfShellExec: "C:\\\"Program Files\"\xpdf\bin64\pdftotext.exe"
"C:\PHP\temp\phpDD.tmp" -
wfShellExec: "C:\\\"Program Files\"\xpdf\bin64\pdfinfo.exe" -enc UTF-8  -l
999  -meta "C:\PHP\temp\phpDD.tmp"
PdfImage::retrieveMetaData: "C:\\\"Program Files\"\xpdf\bin64\pdftotext.exe"
"C:\PHP\temp\phpDD.tmp" -
wfShellExec: "C:\\\"Program Files\"\xpdf\bin64\pdftotext.exe"
"C:\PHP\temp\phpDD.tmp" -

Using this kind of path in command prompt works.

C:\\\"Program Files\"\xpdf\bin64\pdftotext.exe

runjobs.php no longer shows errors with this BUT looking at my testpage
unfortunatly is not showing a preview as before.

https://aquanautweb.de/testwiki/index.php?title=Datei:0003_1110_Technische_Dokumentation.pdf

Making a link to the pdf file on page

https://aquanautweb.de/testwiki/index.php?title=Test

results in this in my logfile

Linker::makeImageLink: Datei:0003_1110_Technische_Dokumentation.pdf does not
allow inline display

Note that the limit for file names (and thus titles in the File namespace) is
240 characters, not 255 as for other pages. No idea if that is the problem

--- Comment #6 from Tisza Gergő  ---
The wfShellExec debug output is correct, with quotes at the right places, so
maybe the runjobs.php error message mentioned in comment 0 is not related to
this issue? You can use [[mw:Manual:ShowJobs.php]] to see what jobs are stuck
in the queue, and runjobs.php --type createPdfThumbnailsJob to make sure only
PDF thumbnail jobs are executed.

At any rate, the Linker:: error message sounds like ImageHandler::canRender
(and ultimately, PdfHandler:retrieveMetadata) failing. Can you manually run the
pdfinfo debug line (without the wfShellExec: prefix, but including the quotes)
and see what output it produces? If the tempfile in the last parameter does not
exist anymore, you can just replace it with the path to the PDF file.

I wouldn't have picked this syntax myself but its how it used to work and one
of the goal of CirrusSearch was to preserve backwards compatibility. Its
not that people can't change how they work but there are tools in the wild that
depend on this funky behavior.

I'm going to resolve this WONTFIX - its a silly syntax but I'm intentionally
not going to fix it to preserve compatibility with whatever might rely on it.
Sorry!
