I have no idea on the > implications here. Collation is fancy word for "way to sort something". Liangent was working on a thing to allow categories to be sorted multiple different ways (The "chinese-collation" branch). I'm not really sure what the status of that work is now, it seems stalled, but if we're doing that, it seems like tacking sort by date on to that work makes sense (Even if on the backend its implemented totally differently). [I should note: I say this without looking at the code and only vague memories of how the chinese collation stuff would look like] One potential complicating factor, is that sort by date is only efficient if we don't separate out into three separate sections for subcats, pages, and files (due to current db indexes), which might complicate an interface. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 70832] Improve JSONContent before releasing 1.24
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70832 Yuri Astrakhan changed: What|Removed |Added Summary|JSONContent::getJsonData() |Improve JSONContent before |should return an object,|releasing 1.24 |not array | --- Comment #1 from Yuri Astrakhan --- I will put all of my jsoncontent-related concerns here for discussion. * By default, data model should use [] <=> array, and {} <=> stdClass conversion, without forcing {} into arrays. This guarantees perfect round-tripping json->php->json, without breaking on empty objects. MW API has had suffered due to this, lots of complaints :) * Validation needs to be improved. true/false is not sufficient for validation, need Status object. Status supports notions of "parsable" (valid json), vs "valid" (passes domain-specific validation, e.g. json schema or custom code). Status also supports localized error reporting with more than one issue. * Separate storage and rendering. Content object is for storage, and when Content::getHtml() is called, its rendering should be done in some other class. * By default, lets not use visualize JSON as table - this might work in some cases, but it is not easily copiable (without hitting edit). I propose using ... if geshi is available, or otherwise. * JSON should be stored in its compact form, but edited and rendered as "prety-printed". * It should be possible to store invalid JSON (similar to how it is possible to store Scribunto's Lua code even when it doesn't validate). This is needed when JSON page is used as a template for transclusion into other pages. Example: {"key":{{{1}}} } <-- in this case we obviously skip all the "prety-print" conversions. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 69623] Graph extension security review
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=69623 --- Comment #2 from Chris Steipp --- The new vega library is an improvement, but I think there's a flaw in how they did the domain comparison: return vg.config.domainWhiteList.some(function(d) { return d === domain || domain.lastIndexOf("."+d) === (domain.length - d.length - 1); }); If "."+d doesn't exist in domain, lastIndexOf will return -1. So if d.length and domain.length are exactly the same length (but different), then -1 === -1, so the invalid domain would get through. I think you want to just take the substring of d which is the last domain.length characters, and then do a strict comparison. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

I think exposing an interface would make sense if we already have an interface for multiple collations. Thus I'm going to mark this as being dependent on bug 44667. [Bug 26411] Entries for non-existent categories should be deleted from the 'category' table
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26411 --- Comment #17 from Robert Morley --- I hadn't looked closely at the patch and thought he'd added both the automatic deletion functionality and the maintenance script. I see now that that was incorrect. For your first solution, I think your point about *NSYNC means that a default of acmin=1 would be an easy-to-write interim solution. I really feel that the second solution is the way to go in the long run, though. The category table never getting cleaned up is basically a resource leak, which is bad in its own right, but could also conceivably be used to expose unwanted profanity or sensitive data with no easy way to get rid of it. I was thinking about sometimes-empty categories, but even if a category is empty, it'll almost always have a category page associated with it (in which case it should be kept, as you mentioned). Even if it doesn't, I don't think deleting it will really matter. I suppose you might want it left as a category suggestion or what have you, but really, if that's what you want, you should be creating a page for the thing anyway. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 26411] Entries for non-existent categories should be deleted from the 'category' table
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26411 --- Comment #16 from Bawolff (Brian Wolff) --- (In reply to Robert Morley from comment #15) > Is it my imagination or has this not yet been published, despite being > noticed and corrected three years ago? It was noticed. It was not corrected. Dan proposed making a script that could be run manually to remove categories without any entries. I had some mild objections at the time. My biggest objection is that if we don't want such categories, we should have something automatic to remove them (ie not a maintenance script), where the comment 7 solution would require a human to press a button every so often to get rid of the extra categories. > > I've tagged this for the next release, but this is my first time doing that, > so if I did anything wrong, please correct me! Those tags aren't treated too seriously. Generally though I would only recommend setting target milestones if you are in a position to fix the bug. --- So possible solutions to this bug: *Have allcategories default to having the acmin parameter be 1. This is closer to the probable intent of users. Downside - will exclude pages in the category namespace that don't have any category members. However it should be noted that this is already the case. [[Category:*NSYNC members]] is a thing, but https://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?action=query&list=allcategories&acprefix=*N&aclimit=100&acprop=size doesn't include it. Another possible solution (perhaps more proper): Change line 3384 on includes/WikiPage.php to delete the entry in the category table iff. cat_pages = 0 and there is no description page for that category. If we did that, we would probably want to ensure that creation of a page in the category namespace creates an entry in the category table even if it has no entries. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. Certainly Wikipedia's "List of" categories show that the problem still exists. Out of the first 100, it looks like one is a redirect (List of Albanians) and none of the others exist at all. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?action=query&list=allcategories&acprefix=List_of&aclimit=100&acprop=size vs. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?action=query&list=allpages&apfrom=List%20of&apnamespace=14&aplimit=2 I've tagged this for the next release, but this is my first time doing that, so if I did anything wrong, please correct me! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
