If I have different roles to choose from but variables that are required for some roles only, the interface is confusing. Especially for people who did not write the puppet files themselves. (Wikidata example: I choose to install a repo, which is the fourth role in a list of four checkboxes. For this, I only need to fill in the 2nd out of four input fields.)
