It was a poor decision on my part to ask for the implementation change like that after testing was over and we moved to make the feature permanent. I amended the patch and recapitulated Steven's point in my commit message: I had some misgivings about bumping the value up by a full second, but Steven Walling noted that our tests used a 3-second duration.
