What you see is the result of the somewhat convoluted and slightly inconsistent way error messages are passed around internally. E.g. the Status class that is used to return the errors insists on escaping all message parameters, making it impossible to provide links. Etc. Several small fixes and some refactoring would be needed to make this work right.
